About Bruce Varney
I relocated to Asheville from California to be closer to my daughter in 2010. 2 days after arriving in Asheville I met my wife Darcy and fell in love immediately! Since getting married in 2011, our love for the beach took us to St Croix, USVI where we decided we were too far away from our 4 children. In 2017 we moved back to the states and landed in Hilton Head SC. We visit Asheville regularly and love the mountains as much as we do the ocean!!
Bruce Varney purchased this House in 2009
Why Bruce Varney chose Arden
This property is where Darcy grew up so it holds a special place in our hearts. It is perfect for a quick getaway or an extended stay. It is located in the small community of only 5 homes so has privacy yet is just minutes away from the fun Asheville has to offer! The location is AWESOME!! Close proximity to south Asheville, Biltmore Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, French Broad River and Airport. This property offers off the main path privacy yet is smack in the middle everything! The perfect combination for a vacation getaway!!!

Best place to stay in Asheville
Ivy Cottage is the best house where we have stayed! it is lovely, homey, well appointed, quiet, in a great location! We will stay there every time we return to Asheville if we can!!
Clean and comfortable!
Very clean, spacious, and comfortable for my husband and I. All the amenities as described and felt like home. Easy access to all that we wanted to do in the Asheville area. I would definitely recommend the Ivy Cottage to others!
Nestled off the road
Nice place, very clean. It was very comfortable and spacious for the 2 of us. Nicely furnished. I personally felt the bed to be way too firm. Others may not. I should note that this is half the house, with the other half also occupied. O don’t recall that being mentioned in the listing. We did not experience any issues with that though. I would recommend this place.
We enjoyed being at Ivy Cottage! It was very clean and spacious. Now that we know it is there and close to the breweries in Asheville, we’ll be back!
The place was extremely nice, I loved how roomy it was as well as how quiet and peaceful the location was. But, it was a short car ride to shopping, restaurants, etc. We are looking forward to staying at this property again. It was a perfect place for a weekend or week hiatus. S.P.
Loved our stay at the Ivy Cottage
I normally don't share my opinion on reviews, even though I always use them when deciding where to stay. I can't say enough about the Ivy Cottage. Great location and very spacious. The King bed was very comfortable and we would stay there again. If you look for a home away from home then this is a great pick! Also close to several shopping options and great restaurants off of 191. Our favorite breakfast spot was Biscuit Head. We had never been there but loved the buscuits..they were actually made from scratch! Cool area all together!!!!
