About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom In A Great Location

Our duplex is located in an upscale residential area, seven minutes' walk from Meguro station on the JR Yamanote Line, seven minutes' walk from Shirokanedai Station on the Nanboku Subway Line. It is ten steps to Minato -ku.The first floor is refurbished. It is like a de luxe hotel suite.

It is also good for expats to stay for house hunting. An ASIJ bus stop is just two minutes' walk away.

Many restaurants, shops, supermarkets are within walking distance. Our duplex is much closer to Meguro Station than Sheraton Miyako Hotel. Ebisu Garden Place, Westin Hotel, museums and parks are in the neighborhood. Platinum Street like SoHo in NYC is five minutes' walk away. Beautiful neighborhood.

Japanese empress's birthplace , now a garden called Nemu-no-ki-no-Niwa open to the public is also five minutes' walk away. And nearby is a Japanese garden tourists never know.

Catering from many famous restaurants is also available

Great location, Wonderful Hosts, Comfortable Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful first time visit to Tokyo because of the great hospitality provided by our hosts Ryoko and Kelly . The duplex was just perfect for us and the location is ideal; it is very quiet given the proximity to the main roads. The main streets to the nearby restaurants, stores, museums, parks, and Meguro station (Yamanote line) are flat and there is a very short gentle slope to reach the Itoh’s duplex.

Ryoko’s hospitality is beyond compare. It is not always easy to find places in Tokyo even with the use of interactive maps on electronic devices. Ryoko provided very helpful tips and maps on how to get to places along with information on sites that we might enjoy visiting. She even accompanied us to the nearby town Kawagoe and arranged for us to have lunch at the Hatsuneya Garden restaurant - the table was situated in front of the enclosed garden and was quite lovely. She provided the use of 2 Suica cards to use during our visit; these were quite handy to use on the local trains, subways, and in some of the stores. Ryoko and Kelly even had recommendations on the Japan beers that we enjoyed!

The pictures of the duplex are spot on. The outdoor temperatures were cool during our stay but the room heating, floor warming mat by the kitchen table, and the Toto warm toilet seat made the indoors quite cozy. The availability of the clothes washer and dryer were also appreciated so we didn’t need to hunt down a laundromat.

We had a most enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again.

Owner's Response: Jan and Frank Thank you for your detailed and wonderful review. It was nice of you to keep company with me to go to Kawagoe. I always would like to see the places our renters see. It was the first time for me to go there. I had a wonderful time with you. And come back again. I will be able to give a nice tips about Kyoto, too. Ryoko

Very caring host

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week and my family was very happy. The host Ms Ryoko was very caring right from booking to our stay and check out. She intact, to our surprise, was waiting at the street corner to receive us. She suggested itinerary for our Tokyo stay and day trips, foods, transportation etc. The location of the duplex house was convenient and safe - Close to Meguro subway. Super market close by. So very good place to stay in Tokyo

Fantastic apartment in great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, well equipped apartment in a quiet situation, but very convenient for the station, supermarkets and a wonderful art deco museum. Ryoko was very helpful during the booking process and most welcoming on our arrival. We enjoyed our stay enormously.

Do not hesitate to book! Comfort, cleanliness & an amazing host

  • 5 of 5

After researching an endless number of hotels for our Tokyo trip, I finally found our perfect match. I was worried that we'd have to make a small hotel room work for three of us or need to get two rooms. It was such a relief to find this rental for my husband, myself and our 27 yr. old daughter. Our must haves were absolute cleanliness, comfortable beds, plenty of elbow room & easy access to the train. We got all of that and more! We felt very at home in a far away place which was only enhanced by the amazing hospitality, warmth and kindness of Ryoko. She lives next door with her husband if anything or any advice is needed and stocks the unit with items that you may very well use ( toiletries & kitchen items). With her prompt communication, patience in answering many, many questions and suggestions that helped with the trip planning -it felt like we had a friend before we even arrived! We ventured out everyday and could get anywhere easily and there are restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance if needed. After being out all day, the (quiet) space was very welcomed when we came back to relax for a couple of hours before heading out for the evening. Traveling to a place that you have not been to before (especially on the other side of the world) often consists of some degree of stress from the unknowns. Do not hesitate to book this property. Do yourself a favor and scratch off "where will we stay?" from your list of unknowns!

Wonderful property! Highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

What a great experience we had! My husband and I and our two girls, ages 11 and 14, stayed at the Itoh's for 9 days. This was our first trip to Tokyo and we travelled from Virginia, USA. I would highly recommend staying here, and should we travel back to Tokyo at anytime in the future we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The owners could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Ryoko responded quickly to all of our inquiries and went above and beyond to ease our travel. Tokyo's addresses are challenging to a foreigner and trying to find places based on address is somewhat perplexing--she provided us with multiple maps and extensive assistance regarding directions, not just to their home, but tourist sites as well. She even provided directions in Japanese that we could give to our taxi drivers to find the apartment! (That came in handy!). Her hospitality was remarkable--Ryoko met our taxi in the rain at the corner of her street to make sure we could find it!! Wow! It was thanks to Ryoko that we were able to watch one act of Kabuki--the websites were all in Japanese. She simply asked us where we would like to go and provided the assistance. She even walked us to 7-11 to get baseball tickets! Ryoko provided many books and much information on tourist attractions and local restaurants. She and her husband live upstairs and were always available to us, but you would never know they were there!

The property is a house, the rental apartment is on the bottom floor, and the Itohs live on the top floor. Importantly, the apartment was exceptionally close to the Meguro train station, a stop on the very well traversed JR line. Thus it was incredibly convenient and easy to get to anywhere in Tokyo! It was a perfect location. In addition, there is a park across the street. I am a runner and was able to use that area to exercise.

The apartment itself is huge by Tokyo standards. It has two large bedrooms, one with twin beds and a sofa, another with a queen sized bed and a side chair. There is a full kitchen and common area as well. The kitchen and bathroom are dated but fully functional. We did not cook during our stay so I cannot speak to the appliances. We were very thankful to have the space that we did, and for being in a city, the apartment and neighborhood were remarkably quiet. The surrounding area has multiple restaurants, convenient stores, shopping, anything visitor would want. My husband even found an American diner!

Owner's Response: Hi! Giniene Thank you from the same continent you are on. Now we are at our summer house in Michigan. I really appreciate your detailed review on our duplex. I just want our renters to have a wonderful time in Tokyo. I really enjoyed your telling me the things you wanted to do or see. Since I have grown up in the same location of the Itohs' duplex , I feel it is my mission to give wholehearted support to the guests staying here. Please come back again to see a baseball game! Ryoko
