|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This apartment is a sweet, small space at the back of the house, limiting the street noise activity. The house is an old 1910 frame building, with layers of history, normal wear and some recent updates. It is a family-friendly building, owner-occupied, with another family on the 3rd floor.
The kitchen is tucked in an alcove, but open to the dining/living area. All kitchen appliances and fixtures are modern, with a granite counter and copper back-splash.
There is a large entry closet and a smaller closet in the bedroom. The bathroom has a standard tub with shower, dual flush toilet and stainless industrial sink. All linens (towels and sheets) are provided. This apartment offers two places to sleep, both accommodating double sleepers.
The living room/dining area windows face north and west; allowing a lot of indirect, natural light. Most of the furniture is minimal, modern style.
Although there are sleeping accommodations for four, it is really best for two adults (and two children).
With an architect/artist owner, it is a work in progress. Please do not expect hotel-level finish, but instead an interesting dialogue between materials, spaces, furnishings.
**This is a Non-Smoking unit**
Check in is at 4PM and check out is 11AM. I try to accommodate all individual arrival and departure circumstances
As mentioned in the rental description, I am an artist and architect. I am currently self-employed and most of the projects I do are residential or small businesses, although I have a lot of experience working on institutional/medical projects.
I was born in Ibiza, Spain to American parents and moved back to the States when I was 11. My parents are also creatives, working in architecture, art and fashion. After receiving a 4-year degree in History from Boston University, I decided to pursue architecture and attended my parents alma matter Pratt Institute. Afterwards, I completed a Masters degree in sculpture at Hunter College.
Frid Branham purchased this apartment in 2007
I love the friendly, safe neighborhood. It is slightly divided off from South Slope/Park Slope, creating an enclave of its own. There are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants to try; many of different regions of the world.
The school system is very good and my kids can safely walk around the neighborhood unattended by an adult.
I live in the building, and make myself available to any and all questions, needs and concerns.
Only good things to say about Frid and her apartment!
Frid answered very quickly to all my mails (1 hour maximum). She lives the apartment downstairs, which is practise in case of need.
She is flexible, friendly and excellent hosts who cares about her guest, she tell us good spots, events.. Thanks to her we tasted perfect pizza just in the corner and last but not least example, we saw Obama in official visit in Brooklyn!!! We also enjoyed the delicious bread that she left for us, in addition to essential foods to start our sojourn.. Really greats attentions!
The apartment has all the comfort expected. It was better than on the pictures..
Clean, spacious, really quiet (no noise in the building and outside, which is really surprising in bk), good bedding.. we spend great time in this place!
Almost, it's in a good and safe area, not so far from Manhattan and easiest to enjoy of all the "beauty" of Brooklyn!
I would recommend without hesitation Frid's apartment and definitely keep this contact for another stay in New York!
This sweet place was comfortable, the owner was kind and thoughtful, and the neighborhood was safe for parking our van. There were also good choices for eating out and groceries.
We would definately return.
The flat is situated in a quiet and very accessible part of Brooklyn. It can be a bit noisy at times (upstairs neighbours, construction work in the street etc) but these are city noise. The bedroom is of a good size, however the mattress was a bit too soft for my taste. (but I like very hard mattresses). Kitchen was fine and the shower was powerful and hot, great after a long day of walking in NYC. A beautiful park is a few blocks away and it is fantastic if you are a keen jogger. Frid came up the first morning after our arrival and was very friendly and helpful in explaining how to get to the subway station. She was also very nice about allowing us to leave our luggage in the hallway of the house so we could enjoy another relaxed morning in NYC.
Our hostess was flexible and available to help us check in and get familiar with the flat. She even offered to arrange for airport transportation when we departed. The location is great for seeing sights in Brooklyn (the Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park - just to name a few). Local restaurants were a treat from morning coffee and bagels to Mexican. Great neighborhood to walk and explore. A walk to the subway takes you to the sites of Manhattan / Broadway / shopping. We were very pleased with the value and amenities. The flat was very clean and the bed super comfy!!! Definitely a recommendation :) Mahalo, Frid!
The flat was clean and well kept. There was plenty of space for our family of 4. It was very hot during our stay, and the air conditioning in the flat worked great to keep us comfortable. The kitchen was stocked nicely, all the linens were provided, and the bed was super comfy! The neighborhood was quiet, and there were plenty of local groceries and pubs within walking distance. The subway at Prospect was also within walking distance, and we took the R train from there to get to everywhere we needed to go. Frid was friendly and helpful. When our flight was delayed, she was flexible with the time to meet us to let us into the apartment. She was helpful in suggesting places of business in the neighborhood and in understanding the transportation system. We very much enjoyed our Brooklyn stay!
We are a family of four (two adults, two teenagers) and we stayed at this apartment for five nights for a family trip to New York. The apartment is comfortable; the bathroom is nice and the kitchen has everything you need for making breakfast or dinner. The beds are comfortable--we all slept well. We loved the neighbourhood and really enjoyed our time there. There's great coffee and groceries within easy walking distance. It was the perfect home base for our visit and we would recommend it highly.
This apartment was perfect for our family of 4. It was close to restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, transportation and a beer garden! We had no trouble finding a place to park our car and it was very quiet at night. The queen bed was very comfortable and our kids said the futon was as well. We did t really use the kitchen but it appeared to have anything we would ha e needed. We will definitely stay here again!
South Slope/Greenwood Heights is directly adjacent to Park Slope and in very easy walking distance to Prospect Park and Historic Greenwood Cemetery. Within the immediate area there are a large number of restaurant, bars and cafes from which to choose, including: Lot2, Southside Coffee, Toby's, Giuseppina's, Seawich, Corzo, Roots, Sidecar Restaurant, and the list is endless of good choices. BAM, Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Barclay Center and Brooklyn Heights Promenade are just short subway or bus rides away.
