Big Pine Key is one of the largest Keys and home to endangered key deer. You will often see them roaming freely throughout the island. Much of the island is federally protected wildlife habitat, off-limits to development. A close-knit, small-town community works conscientiously to protect the local environment, and people are drawn to this area for its unspoiled beauty. It's the perfect place for sight seeing, exploring nature, relaxing and fishing. At the end of our street is a marina with a place to dock your boat, arrange for charter boats, and rent kayaks.
The lower keys are known for excellent fishing and snorkeling. Big Pine Key is the closest point to the famous Looe Key, known for it's fabulous coral reef, and a great area for snorkeling & diving! You can take dive tours or glass bottom boat rides over the coral reef. Miles of beautiful coral reef are waiting to be explored!

We are also located just thirty minutes from Key West where you can enjoy shopping, night life on wild Duval Street, historic tours & sites, and fine dining. Our family lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and we have enjoyed visiting family and friends in Big Pine Key, FL, for many years. We love vacationing at our oceanfront home in this beautiful area on the Ocean.
This is a quiet serene place to enjoy nature. The ocean breeze at this home makes it a pleasure to sit on the covered porch and relax. Snorkeling is fantastic at Looe key, which is a short kayak ride away. With the private dock and fish cleaning table, this home is a fisherman's dream!
My husband and I booked this place for Thanksgiving and I can't say enough about how wonderful of an experience it was. First of all Big Pine Key itself is incredible and unique. We rented bikes from Wooden Bridge rentals a block away. It was fantastic to bike around and see sunrise and the Key Deer roaming around. We also rented a boat which was very affordable. Big Pine Key is special because of the Key Deer and it's flat so biking is fun. My husband fishes so he was in heaven as well. It's secluded and peaceful, but a short drive from restaurants, Winn Dixie, Walgreens, and many restaurants. No Name Pub is walking distance and a lot of fun. Plus it's easy to get to Key West and Honda Key if you want a day trip snorkeling. Key West has a great day trip to Dry Tortugus Island... a MUST do. It is also a short drive to Marathon Key which has the Turtle Hospital and Dolphin Experience. This is why I feel the location is perfect.
The house we stayed at was amazing. We were greeted by Key Deer ever day. The last morning of our trip we were sent off with 11 deer on our porch!!! The house was cozy and fully equipped with anything you needed to make your own meals. It was only my husband and I, but there were beds for three more if you had a bigger group. There is also a room where you can store rental bikes equipped with towels and beach chairs. It is nice and quiet and a bike ride/ walk away from no name key where you can watch the sunrise over the bridge. There would be lot's to do here if you had children.
I highly recommend this place and Big Pine key!
We had a wonderful stay. The house is super secluded and the yard would be filled with key deer every morning and night. We loved how convenient the house was to great lobstering areas and only a short drive to Key West. I would definitely recommend bringing a small fan. The house stayed around 78 for us but we the eastern facing windows are drenched in sunlight in the morning. We purchased a small one at Walgreens and it worked perfectly. We will definetely return!
We had a wonderful family vacation at the Ocean Breeze Cottage! The accommodations were exactly as advertised, and the cottage had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The location is quiet and private, with endangered Key Deer visiting the property daily! What a treat! The sunrises were spectacular. We launched our kayak right from the dock and spent every day on the water. I would highly recommend the Ocean Breeze Cottage.
We enjoyed our stay at this rental and would definitely consider coming back. The house is so nicely decorated and clean. We loved being able to fish on the property and even caught a baby barracuda....(released it back to the water of course!).....We had lunch at NO NAME PUB which was a short walk from the house. LOVED seeing all the Key Deer everywhere...and they are not scared at all.
This is a beautiful, clean home on the water in a nice quiet part of the keys. The owner was very thorough and everything was as described. I stayed a week and regret it couldn't be longer. The decorations are very tasteful, and the furniture/bedding is nice quality. It was exactly what I wanted, with no disappointments at all. Thank you!
This was the our first time in the Keys but it wont be the last. We absolutely lucked out when we rented this house. Our good friends from Ft. Myers came down to meet us and brought their boat. The accommodations for the boat were superb. And there is a marina one block down the street to launch the boat from so we could drive it back to the house. The house had everything we needed during our stay and ate most of our meals there. We fished almost daily and caught plenty of fish to eat. Bistro 31 was our favorite restaurant on Big Pine. You can take your fish filets in with you and they will cook them anyway you like them and furnish soups salads hot bread and vegies all for $12 per person. It was a great house for 2 couples in our late 50's and early 60's to sit on the patio in the evenings for drinks and pet the local deer that would come out of the mangroves to visit us. The house is located in a very quite neighborhood with very little traffic and the neighbor's were very friendly. One week was not enough. We will want to come back again and again.
Walk down the street to the Marina for boat rentals, Short walk to a famous popular restaurant 'No Name Pub', See endangered Key Deer, See the Blue Hole, Minutes to Bahia Honda National Park, Explore natural preserved areas, 30 miles to Key West!
