Big and beutiful
Very comfortable with great location near desert and hiking. But problems with showers in 2 of 3 bathrooms.
We stayed at this beautiful home for 11 days in March 2017. Each day we spent enjoying AZ by going to Spring Training baseball, taking short road trips to spots like Tortilla Flat and hiking on trails such as the Peralta Trail. We would then end the day making dinner in the big kitchen and enjoying meals and wine on the patio. The view of Flatiron Mt. from the patio is spectacular and we saw many a sunrise - and moonrise! - from our front row seats at the house. The bedrooms & bathrooms were comfortable and gave some privacy when needed. We had as many as 7 people in the house and everyone was able to retreat to a spot for alone time.
I feel compelled to respond to a couple of other reviews here that were negative. When we arrived the house was spotless. We did not experience the lack of communication with the owner. We have stayed at many VRBO locations and they all come with their own quirks. We do not go expecting a hotel-like experience with our every need fulfilled by the owner. We stay at a VRBO to get away from cramped, loud, expensive hotels. Sure the TVs are older here, the light switches are confusing at places and the patio furniture had thin cushions (that "problem" took us 15 seconds to solve) but overall we were extremely happy with our entire stay. We would recommend it highly!
Oh, there is a trailhead just a short walk from the house that makes for a perfect hike. And, for a fun local restaurant go the Handlebar in Apache Junction.
10 Star View - 2 Star House
Million dollar views. The house, unfortunately was far from it. Everything mentioned in Pamela D's review was bang on. The neglect in this house is evident after spending a couple of days there. Trash buildup, screens that are difficult to impossible to open, dishwasher not very effective (we washed all our dishes by hand), burned out lights both inside and out, not enough seating in the formal LR or family room, seats from kitchen and dining room different heights so that 8 people can't sit together, dirty patio and broken patio furniture littering the deck, not enough patio furniture for the amount of deck space, starter supplies were probably left over from previous guest. . . The price reflect some of this. If it's too good to be true, then. . . Very disappointed.
Spacious Home with Spetacular Mountain and Desert Views
My family had a wonderful 4 day stay in this home and truly enjoyed not only how spacious this home was but the absolutely beautiful views from the many large expansive windows throughout. The home was impeccably and thoughtfully decorated. Sunrises and sunsets were ones you write home about and wished a phone camera could capture all the brilliant colors. Eating out on the terrace in the cool evenings with the warm fireplace at our back was idyllic. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. With all this being said, there were some issues that could have made our stay a 5 star instead of a 3. Every house we ever rented before had a binder that contained information about the functioning of the home. This house did not. My only access to information was in an email attachment that was sent to me the morning we left to travel to the house. Finding this email and trying to open the attachment on my phone wasn’t always possible or easy. We needed information about how to work the complicated kitchen appliances, the TV’s (although there were only 2 that were hooked up) door locks, trash collections, where the linens were kept and which light switches go with which lights and fans (I spent more time each night trying to figure out which switch turned off which light and/or fan). The home had magnificent outdoor spaces but hardly any furniture to sit and enjoy the views, the pieces that were there were not very comfortable. Some other issues we encountered were not having any toilet paper in ANY of the 3 1/2 bathrooms, we had to send someone back out immediately to purchase what we thought would have been an obvious amenity to expect to have been provided, along with hand soap and paper towels (not sure if that was the cleaning crew or the management company that fell short of that responsibility). The trash was another HUGE issue. All the trash cans inside and outside were full to the brim. We did manage to catch the trash collectors and they kindly took all the trash we had put out to the curb. The last remark I will make is only an observation. We felt the tub in the guest bathroom in the bedroom wing, needed some sort of grip railing to hold on to as you climb in and out of it since It was so deep and a bath mat of some kind to keep from slipping and falling. Did we enjoy our stay? Absolutely!! Despite what I mentioned, we loved our stay and had a wonderful time. We would rent this home again if the issues mentioned were resolved.
Lovely spacious home for a large group
This was my first experience with VRBO. I found it confusing that the owner recommended that I deal with her directly rather than going through VRBO. In the end, it cost more but we felt more comfortable renting through VRBO. I was never able to talk with Dorothy directly but she was quite responsive via VRBO email.
The home is open and spacious with nice amenities, lavish appointments, and great views of Superstition Mountain and the desert. It was the perfect size for our family group of eight. Everything was clean and pleasant. There are nice gathering spaces such as the patio which has a gas fireplace--so warm and comfy in the early morning and late evenings. The kitchen also allows for fun family time together while cooking meals.
A few issues that could use attention are: the outdoor furniture is a low quality and uncomfortable, several of the sliding screens on the doors did not work, the hardware on the doors is very difficult to operate (closing door, locking door, etc.) There are good quality kitchen appliances but they are a little complicated to operate (we wound up going online to look up instructions) . The outside garbage cans were almost full leaving us little space to place our trash.
Overall, however, we had a wonderful time at this beautiful home. We stayed for six days and were all sad to leave. The home fit our needs very well. Thanks!
Paradise at the foot of Superstition Mountain
The home was beautiful, situated at the foot of Superstition Mountain with the back yard backing on to the national park. The home was beautifully designed, spotless and extended the inside of the home to the beautiful outdoors. Sunrises and sunsets were outstanding. We also enjoyed watching wildlife - birds of all kinds (quails, cardinals, hummingbirds), javalinas, coyotes and more!
We had the best nights sleep ever on the IronMan recovery mattress in the master bedroom.
If you love to walk or run this is a beautiful spot. If you golf there are some amazing courses near by.
Dorothy was amazing to work with.
We would highly recommend renting this home.
