Welcome to Casa Verde Florida! This vintage house in historic St. Petersburg is not a typical rental property. This is our home that we have worked tirelessly to modernize and restore to the tropical oasis you see. For now, our careers are taking us to Corvallis, Oregon for a few years to complete graduate school. Please come and enjoy our home – the way we have – while we’re gone!
Features include two newly designed and custom- built bathrooms, the main with Italian travertine and cedar, and the guest bathroom with Indian slate tile. The kitchen was recently remodeled with new fridge, stove, tile, and paint. Two main furnished bedrooms include new paint and window treatments. Front and rear living areas are “Florida tropical” themed with new paint and lighting. The bonus room is a versatile space, with a queen size bed, workstation, hi-speed internet access, extra sleeping space, and room for indoor games and play time on those (rare!) rainy days.
Recycling and composting stations are available for the eco-minded traveler.
The highlight of the house is the outside living space. The spacious patio area, which includes a private hot tub surrounded by tropical foliage, is the idyllic way to relax. This area makes for perfect dining al fresco.
Our home is located minutes from beautiful downtown, waterfront, and the historic St. Petersburg Pier. A wide variety of restaurants and bars are nearby with outside seating and waterfront views. Daytime activities such as shopping, movies, and museums are all available downtown. Local beach access at North Shore Park is a perfect swim spot for children or leisurely stroll for couples. Coffee Pot Bayou Park is a great place to take kids, launch a boat, and watch wildlife. St Petersburg Beach, with sugary sand and turquoise-blue water, is just fifteen minutes away. Restaurants, bars, and a coffee shop are all within walking distance from our home.
Please feel free to email or call us with any questions about the home or surrounding area.
We bought this house after meeting during graduate school at the University of South Florida. Susie is a marine biologist, and if she could, would spend every day in or near the water. Joe is a mechanical engineer, with a penchant for vintage car restoration. Despite our disparate career interests, we both have loved working on this house since the day we moved in. This house has been our retreat from workaday stress and the starting point for many day trips.
Our favorite activity is riding our bikes from the house, along Coffee Pot Bayou, and into the downtown area. Here, we’ll stop for dinner or meet friends for drinks. We also love to bring a picnic dinner out to Pass-a-Grille Beach, swim in the warm tranquil water, and watch the sunset.
Joe Piacenza purchased this house in 2005
This is not a typical rental. This property was purchased as our home and we have treated it as such. We wanted something close to the water with easy access to the beach, shopping, and entertainment. It has a lush tropical back yard, fenced in for privacy. This is perfect for relaxing in the hot tub or having fun with the kids.
Renting a house is very practical if you are traveling with a large family. With laundry facilities, new appliances, two bathrooms, private hot tub, and sleeping for 8, it makes for a comfortable stay that is much more affordable than a hotel suite. In addition, it is a short walk to several restaurants and coffee shops such as Starbucks, Applebees, Red Mesa (authentic Mexican), PDQ, and World of Beer.
The house don't have the handicap accessibles for my sister. No handle bars in the bathroom and no ramps for wheelchair/scooter either doors. Why put handicap icon under the amenities.
My sister got hurt so bad. This is an inconvenience for the handicap.
Other than this. We are okay with the house.
Was nice, clean, and exactly what we were looking for! Hot tub was a great bonus!
4 of us came out from Colorado for a training in St. Pets. Joe the property owner was awesome and extremely friendly. We loved our stay in every way!!!!
Our family is traveling from many parts of the US for our dad's wedding and when I came across this listing I knew it was the perfect place to settle down for a week with family to celebrate a joyous occasion. After contacting the property owner Joe responded almost immediately to advise us that the house was already rented for part of the time. I went ahead and booked the first part of our trip with Joe's assistance. After making the reservations our family decided it was best and easier for everyone to rent a home closer to our destination and renting a home for a week would be a lot less stress on everyone. I contacted Joe of our family's decision and we would need to cancel our reservations. Joe was very accommodating and canceled our reservations and refunded our deposit immediately. I will definitely keep this house in mind next time we visit Florida for the true Florida experience.
Me and my band were touring through Florida and had a few days off. This place had plenty of beds and room for the six of us to be comfortable. It's close to many restaurants and a grocery store. The back yard was nice to relax and read. A quick drive to the beach and a $5 dollar Uber ride to the St. Pete nightlife area. Everything we needed to have fun and recharge.
Three high school classmates and spouses shared this lovely 3 bedroom, 2 bath typical Floridian bungalow for 4 days while attending 55th reunion activities. The neighborhood is a quiet residential street. We loved the house and all the thought put into the remodel. Modern conveniences with old world charm. Breakfast on the patio and relaxing in the hot tub every evening. Convenient location to downtown and the beaches. We enjoyed working with HomeAway and with the owners, Joe and Susie Piacenza. They were very accommodating. We will definitely be back and highly recommend a stay at Casa Verde
