A Sophisticated Vacation Home

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,800 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Custom Log Lodge, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

What do you call this new, architecturally designed, two-story log home nestled in the foothills of the Trinity Alps, and set on twenty-five acres of pine, oak and Manzanita? You call it Shasta Lake Lodge, your dream vacation home far from worldly cares… or the center of activity with four telephones and cellular reception.

It’s your call.

A truly great room is the main floor’s dog friendly “Great Room,” where you look up to a soaring 30-foot ceiling of enormous handcrafted sierra pine and cedar log beams and perlins. Six massive windows with western exposure face professionally landscaped California native plants and panoramic mountain views. The stylish furnishings are sturdy tables and chairs as well as comfortable sofas outfitted in colorful native textiles from Chile, Argentina, and Peru. Entertain with cable/satellite TV, a DVD and CD player, a VCR, and music and video libraries.

Downstairs, the fully equipped dream kitchen was carefully planned to include maintenance friendly concrete tables, countertops and floors. Appliances are stainless steel. A pantry (!) provides ample storage for meals served in nearby eating and living areas.

Also downstairs is the ultra-private large master suite with queen sized bed, well appointed bath, and extra large closet.

Upstairs, you’ll find a carpeted loft with a fold down couch and two other spacious bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and the other with two twin beds and extra large closets.

Sleeping in any of the bedrooms rivals a fashionable city hotel because of the 600 thread count cotton sheets and down comforters.

Plan on sleeping six in three bedrooms, or eight if you use the fold down, or even more than you thought possible if you include the downstairs couches.

Picture your family and/or guests gathering on a 270- degree, west facing patio of 1,000 square feet protected by an overhanging roof. Wine and dine them after barbecuing on the two grills. Challenge them on the regulation horseshoe and Bocce Ball courts. You’ll have room for an RV/boat/trailer as well as parking for approximately 15 vehicles on this three and one-half acre property.

Do as little as possible on vacation or engage in such activities as golfing, biking and hiking. Or, find boating and other water sports, as well as fly fishing, available at Shasta Lake—a mere five minutes away. Travel 20 minutes to the Upper and Lower Sacramento Rivers, or 90 minutes to the Trinity, McCloud and Applegate Rivers. The Klamath, Eel and Fall Rivers are only two hours away (along with many lakes and creeks).

Winter visitors can snowmobile, cross country or downhill ski at Mt. Shasta Ski Park. Wine mavens will enjoy the area’s numerous wineries

Some points of interest located in Redding are: the amazing Calatrava 'Sundial' Bridge connecting the Turtle Bay Exploration Park and the McConnell Arboretum; the Sacramento River Trail; the Shasta Dam and Shasta Caverns; and, of course, the spectacular 14,161-foot Mt. Shasta. Railroad buffs can even find a railroad museum located near Dunsmuir.

It’s your unforgettable vacation house… just the way you want it. It's your call.

About Managed by Mt. Shasta Vacation Rentals

We are Diane and Al. Diane is a financial consultant and Al, her loyal sidekick, is a judge and raconteur. We chose the Lake Shasta area to build our dream home because of its natural beauty, fabulous fly fishing and myriad outdoor activities.

Managed by Mt. Shasta Vacation Rentals purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Managed by Mt. Shasta Vacation Rentals chose Lakehead

The lodge location was chosen because of its unique combination of a restful, rural setting, yet close proximity to Interstate 5 and the amenities of Redding. Diane and I enjoy the outdoors, fly fishing and a restful get-away from the bustle of San Francisco.

A peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

This home is spectacular! You feel like you are in your own world surrounded by trees but in reality you are only 10 minutes away from the highway, Shasta Caverns and Holiday Harbor. The beds are really comfortable and the decor is beautiful. The windows provide a picture perfect view. We ate all but one meal here and cooked on the BBQ. They have everything you need including charcoal! The bocce court is so much fun especially because it's lighted and you can play at night. Our family loved this home.

Excellent location isolated yet everything nearby

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were excellent. The kitchen is fully appointed and we made most meals here. This house was great for entertaining and had plenty of outside seating in the shade. We had great views of the mountains and a sliver of Shasta Lake. The temperature outside was very hot (105 deg C) but the inside was able to stay quite cool and comfortable with the large ceiling fan, portable fans in the upstairs bedrooms and the air conditioner in the great room. The Bocci Ball court and horseshoe pit were lots of fun in the morning and evening cooler hours. This house is about 5 minutes off Hwy 5 on a nice country road. A grocery store and breakfast and coffee shop are 10 minutes (1 exit) North and Shasta Caverns and boat rentals and other restaurants are 10 minutes (1 exit) South. Satellite TV was nice to catch up on some Giants Baseball as well. Highly recommended.

Cozy Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Great decor and I love the cement stamped flooring! Our only problem was getting or boat onto the property. We couldn't fit through the gates! We had to back down the road in reverse and got stuck in a ditch. We had to hire a tow truck to get us out!

Owner's Response: Hi Jennifer: Bummer about your boat not fitting through the "Montana Gate". You must have a very large boat as the clearances are quite commodious (9'6" height and 15' wide). Otherwise I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come back. Best, Al Knoll

Comfortable, relaxing location

  • 5 of 5

The Shasta Lodge is in a serene, beautiful location. The house has well styled, comfortable furnishings and linens that suited our group well. The twin beds in one room were so appreciated by our young men! We especially enjoyed the lighted bocce court, and the covered deck with the views. We had several deer visit us in the morning and evening. A bonus for us was hearing the band from across the lake on Saturday night. It was definitely not loud enough to disturb, just a pleasure from the back deck. The windows and the large ceiling fan make the air conditioning virtually unnecessary. This trip we had wake boarders and tubers that wanted to go out several times throughout the day, making the location the ONLY negative. The Lodge is about 30 minutes from Sugarloaf or Antler's Marina.

Beautiful stay

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my group of friends for Labor Day weekend, and truly enjoyed my experience. There were 6 of us, and we were very comfortable. The views from the living room are gorgeous - it is worth every penny to just sit outside on the patio and enjoy the breakfast with the stunning views. The host (and property manager) were very responsible and easy to work with prior to and during our stay.
