Exceptional apartment

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a week with a family of five (older teens). The apartment was spotlessly clean, and very roomy. Comfortable beds for 5. Appliances all worked well and plenty of dishes/cutlery supplied. Abundant towels also. Location is excellent with easy walks to many attractions, restaurants and shopping. Burkni was very accommodating and quick to respond to questions. We have stayed in many rental apartments over the years and this was certainly one of the best. Thank you Burkni!

Lovely Apartment in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for three nights in this lovely flat right in the heart of Reykjavik. The flat was immaculate, the beds were perfect. Walking distance to all of the best restaurants, shops and sites. Slept 4 of us very comfortably.

Wonderful flat in the heart of Reykjavik

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this wonderful gem of a home last month. Accommodated the 4 of us comfortably (two couples). We loved the décor and artwork. We all commented on how luxurious and comfortable the beds were. But hands down, the best feature of the flat was the unbeatable location-- right in the heart of Reykjavik. You could walk anywhere! We rented a car for the week-- but you really don't need to. Burkni was a great host and answered all of my e-mails promptly. I would highly recommend this flat and definitely stay again if we ever make it back to Reykjavik!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this lovely, artistic apartment with my friend and three teenage boys. We were able to park our car in a convenient location, and found it invaluable if you like to avoid bus tours. Restaurants, the grey line, the harbor, and park (with lively bands) were all within easy walking distance. Burkni was a wonderful host and was generous with his time and information. Not liking lamb or fish, I fully expected to lose weight in Iceland. Wrong! The restaurants were wonderful! I better hit the gym hard before making my next trip!

Great apartment, great location.

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous apartment, full of character and some amazing artwork. Burkni was easy to communicate with throughout and was there for our arrival, explaining everything about the apartment and giving his time to answer all our questions about Reyk. Our family of 4, inc 2 teens were very happy here and we will hold fond memories. It's a little gem and I'd recommend it without hesitation.

Comfortable and spacious apartment in the heart of downtown Reykjavik

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with two friends last September (one in her 40's the rest of us early 60's). This apartment is located in the very heart of Reykjavik and is extremely well placed for sightseeing and shopping and just about anything else you might want to do in the city. It is a few steps from a really cute little pub and just two streets over is a very nice and inexpensive fresh fish place called "Fish" -- we liked it so much we ate there twice. Also the harbor (with tons of seafood restaurants) is just a couple blocks away. The Grayline bus tour headquarters is just a block away if you wanted to do a bus tour. I highly recommend their tour along the south coast. The apartment is on 3 floors with steep steps so if your legs are feeling wobbly, you might want to take the bedroom on the main floor. It is very secure and I felt quite safe walking to and from the apartment even in the dark evening. As others have mentioned, the Icelanders party hard and one of the party places is nearby, but I had no trouble sleeping through it. If you are sensitive to noise I recommend the bed at the back of the house on the 3rd floor. As far as technology is concerned, here is our experience (we were visiting from the US): We brought one converter with us which was able to recharge all of our electronics except laptops, but we were able to keep those going by recharging a powerpack and using it to run the laptops. I would recommend having a second converter if at all possible. Burkni was a wonderful host and will give you lots of recommendations with map directions. Thank you Burkni! Our stay was great and I would highly recommend this apartment! One added bonus is the black cat that lives next door pops out of his little door to greet apartment residents as they come and go! Oh, and if you do not plan to rent a car, it is easy to get from the airport to the apartment with either tour company -- if I come back, I would definitely use the Grayline company as it would get people to the apartment faster since their headquarters is so close. Although, there is not a stop for the apartment, there are lots of guesthouses in the same area and you can just ask to be dropped at one of them.
