Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday farmhouse in Frankfort

Farmhouse, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

The Crockett House is less than ten minutes from downtown Frankfort, many restaurants and several shopping centers. It is five minutes from I-64 and makes a perfect rendezvous spot for family or friends. Surrounded by 53 acres of pasture and woodlands, the property makes a peaceful retreat. From the large screen porch, one can listen to nearby Armstrong Creek and watch deer and turkey move in and out of the woods. Parts of the two-story frontier home were built in 1825. It retains much of its original woodwork, including the staircase and board and batten doors. The entire house was tastefully remodeled in 2008.

About Sara and Jim Call

We are a retired teacher and mental health professional. We bought the Crockett House and farm at auction. We lovingly remodeled the house and planted a vineyard in 2008. September is harvest time. We sell our Vidal Blanc grapes to local wineries.

Sara and Jim Call purchased this farmhouse in 2007

Why Sara and Jim Call chose Kentucky

The farm is such a beautiful spot. We enjoy it ourselves and love making it available for others to enjoy.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The outside world seems far removed as you drive down the lane to the farmhouse. Deer are frequent visitors in the evening and sometimes a flock of turkeys can be seen walking by the creek.

Beautiful home for a wonderful vacation :)

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 recently stayed 4 nights at the Crockett house! Beautiful, peaceful place to come "home" to each night after enjoying day trips to the Ark Encounter, Creation Museum and Kentucky Kingdom! The house is just as described and more, beautifully decorated. Owners were quick to respond to questions. We also met 2 of the owners during our stay and enjoyed talking with them! Will be keeping this rental number and hope to be able to stay again some day :)

Wonderful vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a good time at the Crockett House. Jim and Sara were wonderful at communicating with us before our stay with questions we had and were so gracious to allow extra guests (our parents) to stay with us. The house is quite nice with plenty of extras, even down to the night lights, which is very helpful when traveling with children. The property is beautiful and peaceful. We all had a great time exploring the paths and the woods and our children especially enjoyed the creek. The binder and table of maps, etc that Jim and Sara have put together is very informative and considerate. We all enjoyed looking at the pictures of the house through the years and learning some of its history.

We found some great parks nearby, with our favorites being Cove Springs Park (nice trails and pretty waterfall) and Salato Wildlife Center. Frankfort is a pretty town to explore. We also had a wonderful time at Elements clay studio in Lawerenceburg. The kids each got to take a 20 minute pottery wheel lesson and make a bowl. She also has a you paint pottery area as well. Very fun shop and Susan was so great with the kids!

We are hoping to return again next year!

A very nice, well restored farmhouse with absolutely marvellous surroundings. Everything green and blossoming in Springtime, what a perfect place to spend a holiday! The house was clean and spacious and well-maintained, everything we needed was there. We would recommand this place to anyone!

Perfect for a quick weekend get-away

  • 5 of 5

Two friends and I spent the weekend here. It was cozy, but roomy. It was a very cold weekend in February, so we did not venture out. The property would be great fun to explore if the temps were more than 15 degrees and the wind something less than 10 mph! We did go to Capital Cellars and had a lovely repast--an unexpected pleasure. This would be a great central location for doing the Bourbon Trail. Waking up to snow-covered fields was a delightful surprise. The kitchen is very well appointed. The beds are all comfortable. We were very warm. We would definitely return!

Most Awesome

  • 5 of 5

This place was terrific. It is spacious and comfortable and everything the summary says. We were visiting because of a son's graduation. We were able to have the grandchildren over, with space for them to move around. We stayed in mid-December and the heaters etc kept the place warm and cozy. 11 deer came down one night to graze. Just a wonderful cozy place. Although we did not need them, there was male information about local attractions. You are "out in the country" yet very close to the city. We would definitely stay again. D.A.H.

Lovely vacation experience in a beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

We supremely enjoyed our trip here! We live busy lives in the city, and staying here was such a special treat. During the day, there are hardly any other buildings visible off the property and the main road is only visible from a second floor bedroom. We loved waking up to quiet peaceful mornings with deer grazing nearby. The house was very comfortable and clean. The location is perfect - the property itself has a rural feel, but restaurants, gas stations, and a 24-hour supermarket are no more than 5-10 minutes away. We also enjoyed learning a little about the history of the house & local area thanks to the thoughtful binder of information that the owners put together. I am already trying to figure out when I can come back here to visit again. I would recommend a stay in this exact property to just about anyone.
