H51 is located in the great geothermal town Hveragerði only 40km away from Reykjavík.
The house is modern and bright 2,210 sq ft / 205 sq m with an open living room, dining and kitchen area with seat for 10-12 people. There are 2 sliding doors to the garden from this family room. The garden is wonderful and the terrace is spacious and marvellous for an outdoor enjoyment, including a hot tub, a grill and garden furniture. It has 3 spacious rooms (sleeps 6-8) and 2 bathrooms, a laundry room with a washer and a drier. Also there is a Garage, which we are not renting out but there is a parking place in the front of the house for 3 cars. The master bedroom is big and has walk-in closet and bathroom with shower. The other rooms have a double bed and two beds. Also we have to more beds to put in the rooms if there are more than 6 people staying in the house. The neighbourhood is peaceful and beautiful with nice houses and Mountain Views all around.
When travelling (40 km) from Reykjavík, Hveragerði can be seen from Kambar, the edge of the mountain. Hveragerði is known as the greatest hot springs capital of the world. Strokes of steam rise from the earth all around and in the middle of the town is a geothermal park.
Hveragerði is also known as the flourishing town. Green forest areas are all around the town with very nice walking paths.
I was born in Reykjavík and have always lived in South Iceland. I am married and have 3 grown up children and 6 grandchildren.
Kristín purchased this villa in 2007
My family of 5 (three teenagers) stayed for 14 days and it was perfect. The home has everything you need and could not be in a better location to explore Iceland.
Kristin, thank you so much for sharing your amazing home with us. Brian, Jen, Emily, Ben and Jack (Encinitas, CA)
We were a group of 6 friends visiting Iceland for 2 weeks in July 2016. We stayed 9 nights in this property. The house was excellent with a really nice big open plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen. The outside space was excellent with our own hot tub. Bedrooms were of a nice size and the bathrooms super. The owner could not do enough for us even staying up late to welcome us on the first night and buying us groceries for the first day. The house is in a small town to the east of Reykjavik and is superbly positioned for exploring all the highlights of the south west and central areas of the country.
We had a fantastic time in Iceland. Kristin is a fabulous host. The home is modern comfortable and warm in a great area outside of Reykjavik but an easy drive (25 min) from the city. Couldn't ask for a better place. Would return if the opportunity presented.
We have just stayed for a week. The house is fully equipped- a home from home. The location is ideal for exploring the highlights of the Golden Circle ", nothing seemed more than a short drive away. Kristín is a great host and the house had everything we needed, the communication prior to arrival was prompt and told us everything we needed to know. Our party consisted of 3 generations and everyone enjoyed both the country and the accommodation. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay. Thank you Kristín for letting your house to us we have all had a fantastic time in Iceland.
The property was very nice! The manager was helpful and gave us a tour of the house and features. The kitchen had all the necessary equipment for cooking and serving.
The location was perfect to accommodate day trips to some of the most popular sites in Iceland.
The town is beautiful, quiet and everyone was very friendly.
This is a very comfortable stylish modern base from which to sightsee the Golden Circle. You will need a car but it is well worth it as a lot of the main attractions are 45minutes to one hour away by car. The accommodation is top class with hot tub ideal for relaxing after a day out. The standard of accommodation is very high and very clean with all amenities. Could not complain at all and Kristin was a very helpful and accommodating host who went out of her way to help us. Would happily recommend this to anyone. Only point to note this is a small town and the garage and supermarket do not open until 9 and 11am respectively but there is a super home bakery which is open early which sells some basics as well.
H51 is in the green geothermal town Hveragerði only half an hour drive from Reykjavík. Hveragerði is located in middle of most interesting places in the south Iceland. Kerið, Þingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir are less than an hour drive (The Golden circle).
The Blue Lagoon, Hekla Volcano, Eyjafjallajökull, Jökulsárlon, Landeyjahöfn the ferry to Vestman islands, Waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss are all about an hour drive from Hveragerði. The geothermal, hot spring area in the city center is open every day during the summer. There you can go for a clay foot bath and soak your feet in one of the hot springs, or just boil eggs in one. The river, Varmá lies through the town and is one of the best trout fishing rivers in the south Iceland. Also it is nice to watch the trout jumping up the waterfall Reykjafoss.
There are great walking, biking and riding trails in the town, all around the town and into the mountains valley where you will find warm natural pools and rivers for bathing. The geothermal heated swimming pool at Laugarskarð is open all year round. It has beautiful surroundings, with hot baths, whirlpools, a natural sauna and a fitness center. The bank, supermarket, bar and restaurants and the swimming pool are only 10-15 minutes walk from the house. A beautiful and interesting 9 hole golf course in Gufudalur Hveragerði is only 5 minutes drive from the house. Also there is a another small 9 hole golf course at Hotel Örk only 100 metres from the house.
