Our home is across the bay from Chippewa National Forest and situated on a point where all windows except one face Wabana Lake. The dock is only steps from the deck so you can be on and off the lake in a flash. Our 3 bedroom 2 bath home has a fireplace, deck and fantastic screened in gazebo to enjoy wonderful summer evenings. There are two indoor living spaces, in addition to the three bedrooms, providing plenty of room for the whole crew. We have plenty of sleeping space. There's a Queen sized bed in the master bedroom, a queen in the 2nd bedroom, and a twin in the 3rd bedroom. If you need more sleeping space there is a pull out sleeper sofa. (MAX 10 People!) The large gazebo is an absolutely perfect place to gather the family and trade fish stories or share a glass of wine. Sorry No RV or Campers!

Grand Rapids, Minnesota, has been a favorite vacation destination for over 100 years. The area's renowned fishing lakes and beautiful forests provide the perfect backdrop for a family vacation, reunion, business trip, meeting & convention, or couple's getaway. Located in NE Minnesota, just 3 hours - 180 miles north of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, Grand Rapids is close enough to be convenient, but just far enough away to provide you with a real escape.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this beautiful home on Pickerel Bay. The view from the living room affords the opportunity to see beautiful sun rises and sunsets as well as loon and eagle watching. We woke up to loons every day and each evening we listened again as they called to each other to find their way "home". We saw a few eagles (or maybe it was the same one) over the course of our two week stay. Even watching the rain was enjoyable to us as we found it very relaxing. The water is so clear, we would sit on the dock and watch the fish. Hubby caught many bass, but the walleye seemed to stay in hiding. We ended up going to Pughole Lake and there he caught quite a few Northern Pike. We loved taking drives down the many dirt roads but found out that without 4-wheel drive it wouldn't be a good idea...and if the sign says "share the road" and there's a picture of a 4-wheeler, well, you may not want to venture down that road! lol We ate at Cedar Creek Grille and found the food wonderful, but mostly cooked at the cabin, either inside or on the gas grill. On rainy days we watched movies and took naps and did puzzles, but when we could, we were on the water! It was so nice having a dock as it would rain, then clear up and we could go for a paddle in the kayaks to watch the sun set...sigh...loved it! We paddled to Little Trout Lake one day and saw a Loon on her nest, then she dove into the water and we were able to see her swimming it was so clear. Another day we paddled to Trout Lake and we paddled to Bluewater Lake a couple of times. The water is a bluish green on Bluewater Lake and Little Trout...just like you're kayaking in an acquarium...can't say enough about it! We purchased wood from Greg up the road and had a bonfire one night and it got a little chilly another night so we actually had a fire in the fireplace, lol. All the accommodations were wonderful. I wonder, however, would you consider including the motor boat with the rental? :)
When we arrived at this lake home we thought WOW the pictures don't do this place justice.
The cabin was quite large, with plenty of room for us and our two grand son. The gazebo got plenty of use and kept the mosquitos at bay. Not knowing the lake we didn't catch any walleyes but we did get plenty of panfish. Grand Rapids is a relatively short drive away so we went there a couple of times. All in all it was a great week at a great cabin.
We stayed with members of our family (7 total) and had everything we could hope for a so much more. The fishing was excellent, ate lots of blue gills and rock bass, released the big fish, loved the chain of lakes, loved the clear water, very private with wonderful neighbors (thank you Stan & Mary). We will definitely be back as soon as possible!
Great place to stay. It was all that was advertised. Location on the lake was excellent and close to our favorite fishing spots. The only negative was the weather. Even with cool temps we still had a great time outdoors. The cool temps kept us from using the gazbo that has everthing for holding a family dinner. Getting ready to select a date for 2014. Caught all the bass we wanted with a dozen between 18 and 21 inches long, and more between 14 and 16 inches. All were released and we did keep a few in the 14 inch range for a Thurs fish fry. Would recomend this property to everyone.
We had a wonderful time at this cabin on Wabana. The cabin had plenty of room for our family of 6. Cabin was very clean and well kept. Great family room for the kids too. The yard is great with the gazebo being a place we spent a lot of time to be able to play cards or just enjoy the day without the bugs. The lake is beautiful! The water is clear, and the other lakes (Trout and Bluewater) have amazingly caribbean blue water. We swam in every lake! The cabin doesn't have a good swimming area but a nice sand bar is just a short boat ride away that we went to everyday. We used the fire pit for smores a couple nights too. The washer and dryer came in super handy too! With 4 kids that was a life saver! We found a great sunny hole on the lake and my husband and kids brought back lots of fish to eat and some to take home with us. Owner (Robert) is easy to work with and there is a rental manager a few houses away if you need anything. We had just a great time and hope to be back next year!
Very nice place, cabin sits on a point with a great view. Gazeebo was nice for enjoying the evenings. Very relaxing week. Actually had a pair of eagles land on the dock one afternoon. Everything the "up north" is supposed to be!
