This home is close to Chicago,Just take the train (Southshore) into the city and other places in this wonderful area. I can Fly into South Bend Airport and bring the South Shore train to Ogden Dunes station and be right here on the Beach.
We had a great time at this house in Miller Beach and highly recommend it.
First of all, the house was great. It was 2 blocks from Randolph beach, with easy access. Second, the house had everything you needed. We really didn't need to bring anything in terms of towels, kitchen supplies, paper towels, etc. It really had everything you could want. Plenty of space with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a bonus basement area that the kids could take over. The outdoor space was nice and we often ate meals on the lower deck. Neighbors were nice and the area was quiet.
Miller Beach was great. It's not very touristy and sometimes i wished for an ice cream shop... but the beach is beautiful, the train to Chicago is easy, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is right next door, some good pizza and a couple restaurants you can walk to... Movies, grocery, Marquette Park and other necessities are close by. But the beach is the draw! Feels like an ocean but with fresh water. Kids can swim as the bottom is sandy and shallow.
Albert was easy to work with, flexible and very helpful. We hope to come back and would definitely stay here again.
My family I recently stayed 5 days, 4 nights and had a great, relaxing time. There were 4 adults, two children, and a teenager and there was more than enough room for all of us. The house was very clean and was stocked with all but food. We arrived Sunday before official check-in time, and Albert was fantastic and let us check-in early! We dropped our bags off and made the short 5 minute walk to the beach. The beach was GORGEOUS!. Soft sands and crystal clear water. On the ultra clear days, Chicago skyline is very visible from the beach. Since the house is located in a community, you also get the benefit of the beach being private!. Monday-Thursday, there were literally only one or two other families on our stretch of beach! The Indiana Dunes and Marquette Park are each a definite must, as both offered amazing views of the lake from the top of a dune. If you are looking for a place that was vibrant nightlife and places to go each night, this will not be the place for you, but if you are looking for a quiet relaxing time with all of the necessities, then this will be perfect. I would definitely stay again, as essentially having the beach to yourself, on a hot sunny day, with nothing but the sound of your kids and the small waves hitting the shore, is priceless. Small bonus, there is a Doe and her two fawns that live in the wooded area behind the house, we got to see them multiple times. :)
Our family of 6 had a wonderful week at this house. There was more than enough room. In fact our 4 boys never touched the 2 extra bedrooms. They preferred to have the downstairs all to themselves. The house was fully stocked with everything....except a pizza pan. We bought 2 & left them for future renters. Really all you need is food. The walk to the beach is a very short walk. The beach itself is beautiful. Soft sand and clear water with a giant sandbar. No worries about small children going out too far. Albert is a fantastic person & will go out of his way to make your stay wonderfu. Highly recommend this house!
This cottage is nestled in a quiet neighborhood, 2 blocks from a beautiful sandy beach. Most days the sky was clear enough to see the Chicago skyline. We took the train from the Miller station into Chicago to see the sights. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed for a great stay, including awesome beach chairs! There was even a ball for our kids to play four square on the perfectly shaped concrete patio outside. Miller Beach is a well kept secret. The manager of the rental was friendly and helpful. We met many friendly people and enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!!!
Just wanted to say that we reserved the house for a week, and due to unfortunate events had to cancel a couple of months prior. I received confirmation my deposit would be promptly refunded. I've had excellent communication with the manager, and would absolutely rent from him in the future.
My family and I have stayed here while in the area for a family reunion. It was perfect for us: 1) plenty of space for 6 adults and one adult sized teen, 2) easy walk to the beach with chairs and ice chests in tow during the day, and 3) home cooked family dinners by the kitchen table at night.
We hope to stay here again for the next reunion.
Catch the South Shore Train to downtown Chicago or go the other direction for the large discount Mall and Casino in Michigan City. Heading east, train stops at South Bend Airport. Also The Casino is close to Michigan City..You can get off at the Ogden Dunes Station just about 3 miles away.
