You are away from the city, but yet so close! You will be able to get in and out of Manhattan in a wink. It takes approx 15 minutes to be in the heart of Manhattan, so you can enjoy the city all day, but you will be able to come back to a quiet place. By staying in this house, you will be able to enjoy the best of both worlds. The quietness of this area will be much appreciated after being all day in the noisy streets in the city.
This was by far one of the best experiences of our trip. The home is beautiful and very clean. The beds offer the best nights sleep you will ever have. Just minutes away from historic Hoboken NJ and only 3 to 4 miles from NY city. Owners are very kind and very helpful with any need or want and were accessible any time of day or night. Neighborhood was very nice and safe and close to any need you may have from groceries to gas or shopping. Several options for transportation right there at home. Our kids would have been happy just staying there at the house as there was plenty of fun and entertainment with pool table, movies, and eateries at your fingertips. We had 7 guests on our trip but could have easily had twice that with plenty of room. It was equipped with essentials for travel (towels, toiletries like shampoo/conditioner and even bodywash, plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, and extra bedding) that make it so convenient and cost saving. There is everything you need to cook with and even host a formal dining event if you need to. I can't speak highly enough about this property and its owners. I would highly recommend it. It is well worth the price and would happily stay there again! The decor is just awe inspiring and with three full bathrooms we had NO problems getting 7 People dressed and ready to spend the day in the city. Thank you Mrs Ruth for an amazing experience!
Ruth's place was perfect for what we were looking for on our trip to NY. Her directions, instructions and communication were spot on. Ruth is helpful, made us feel at home.Definitely would stay again, thanks Ruth
Our group of 15 ( 7 adults, 8 kids) traveled from New Zealand to spend a few days in New York. This home was amazing and met our needs really well - three floors over which to spread out, two kitchens for food prep/storage, lots of comfy beds and towels and wifi included! We really appreciated the airport pickups that happened after midnight due to airline flight changes (cheers to Manny and Henri for those!) the airconditioning units in every room and the local transportation and neighborhood amenity details provided to us prior to our arrival. We took the "chicken bus" each day into/out of the city and found it a really quick, easy commute into the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The location was easy walking to pizza places, groceries, liquor outlets, bank machines etc. The porch off the second floor was a great place to end the day with a quiet beverage. We will certainly stay here again if we are lucky enough to travel through to New York again in the future. Thanks Ruth, Henri and Manny!
Our family decided it would be nicer to stay together for our daughter's wedding in the City. This was the perfect place! The home was large enough where we weren't "all over each other." Our grandsons could play without waking up the others. There were many rooms where we could go "shoot pool" or listen to music without bothering the others. The home was wonderful, and I am sure, is filled with history. Henry, one of the hosts explained the architecture, which we found rather interesting. The stained glass throughout the home was amazing!
The home was clean, with plenty of towels. The neighbor was safe, with the full moon especially beautiful. NYC is very close, but as we all know, depending on the traffic, the ride can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour...but that is the city for you! The "chicken buses" are only a block away. Our children used them, and loved them. The family opted to use car service to get to our venues, which worked out well, as Ruth and Henry also own a car service. They picked us up from the airport and drove us to most of our events. We were a large group, so their van worked out quite well for us. Their driver, Manny, was the best (and Henry himself also "chipped in" on a few rides, and he was great). They also were great at helping us "sightsee" as we drove! Manny can tell you the best places to eat!
I would stay here again anytime. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well. Thank you Ruth and Henry!
We traveled from Australia and met up with friends from Scotland in New York for a week. We were lucky enough to stay in this truly unique property in New Jersey.
Ruth and her husband are a lovely couple - they were incredibly helpful and solved any minor issues as they arose. Ruth even sends you a welcome pack before you get to the property with a lot of detail on how to get around New York from their place. - for example, it is a really easy 15 minute bus ride for $3 to Manhattan.
We had a great time in this property and would highly recommend staying there to anyone needing "space" while in New York. Most hotels and apartments are tiny - this one is not! The property was clean, the beds were comfortable and the neighbourhood is varied and safe.
When staying on the New Jersey side make sure you visit Liberty State Park - I think you get some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline from here and a great view of the Statue of Liberty. There is also a restaurant in the Liberty State Park which was superb - great service and great food. It is a little more expensive then other restaurants on the Jersey side but when you consider the spectacular view it is well worth it. Enjoy your time in the Big Apple!
