Very nice restful place. Great location for seeing Iceland. Margret was very kind and helpful.
Very nice restful place. Beautiful house. Great kitchen and bathroom. Location was perfect for seeing Iceland. And I loved that it was by the ocean.
Great place by the sea, surrounded by lava fields
The property is a lovely place close to the sea, in amongst the lava fields on the Reykjanes peninsula. You'll need your own transport to get there, but it isn't far off the main road between the airport and Reykjavik. Despite being convenient for the main road, there are only about four or five houses within sight of the house, then nothing but rocks and sea as far as the eye can see. This is definitely a place to get away from the tourist crowds.
Margret was very helpful before we got there and her clear instructions made it very easy to find. After showing us around, she left us to it, but was only in the property next door, so easy to get if we had needed anything. We spent the period between Christmas and New Year here and couldn't have asked for anything better! The lounge has long, tall windows, and being away from the lights of the big towns means that sitting in the lounge with the lights off is as good a place as anywhere to look for the northern lights. The house has under floor heating and two log burners, so while it was around -10°c outside for much of the time we were there, it was always nice and warm inside.
Very warm and inviting home.
The four of us really felt at home during our stay. We enjoyed the hot tub and saw the Northern Lights!
Great house and location for our trip!
The house was a wonderful launching off point for our Iceland vacation! The house was well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay, even during an 8-hour winter storm during our trip. Margret was a wonderful host and was very flexible as our plans changed due to the storm. The location on the ocean was peaceful and far enough away (but close enough) to all that we wanted to see. We even saw the Northern Lights from the house over the ocean. The location is well suited between the Airport in Keflavik and Reykjavík. Per Margret’s suggestion, we also enjoyed the restaurants in nearby Vogar. We did not use the hot tub as it was very windy during our trip, but it was available.
Beautiful view, has everything you need,
The house was clean and all amenities were provided. Lots of space and nice to have two bathrooms. The view of the surrounding landscape and ocean sets this place above others. Hot tub was yellow... might be due to the sulfer content but we weren't used to the colour so we didn't go in. Not a big deal to us though as we thought overall the house was well worth what we paid. Definitely need a rental car. Margaret was lovely and accommodating and went out of her way to provide us with extras for our little one, very much appreciated.
Beautiful house and location, had everything we needed. The owner was very attentive.
We stayed for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. Saw northern lights at night!
