We are an eclectic urban couple -- we love city life but also enjoy getting away from it all. Irvington is the perfect getaway.
Irvington has a special blend of charm and sophistication that is not often found in small towns. It's a fun and friendly place.
The town of Irvington is relaxing and laid back while still offering upscale amenities. This house has an interesting history, including ties to a Hollywood Starlet -- ask us for the full story! We enjoy eating at local restaurants, sampling fresh local seafood, visiting vineyards, antiquing, and the great outdoors. We live full time in an area where we can walk to everything and love that we can do the same in Irvington.
We stayed for three nights with another couple at David & Laura's beautiful house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved everything about the house. Laura was great at communicating and getting us the information we needed for check-in and recommendations for groceries, food and wine. We liked how each bedroom had it's own bathroom. It was perfect for two couples. We enjoyed hanging out and eating on the back patio and had a perfect view of the meteor shower that was going on while we were there. The neighborhood is very quiet. We didn't check out any of the local places in Irvington, but did have dinner one night at Northern Neck Burgers in Kilmarnock. The rest of the time we just ate at the house. All in all, it was a great stay and we'd stay again!
We enjoyed our week at the Blue House! We had a great time walking in the town of Irvington and a delicious dinner at the Tides Inn! The house was nice and clean. We enjoyed the patio with the solar panel string lights! Very romantic! We had a lovely, relaxing week!
Laura, thank you for your help with providing us with helpful historical sites! We enjoyed visiting Stratford Hall. Thank you again for making our time at the Blue House a wonderful experience!
My husband and I stayed at The Blue House the first weekend in August. We absolutely loved it. The town of Irvington offered us the laid back feel we were looking for. We enjoyed walking around the town and visiting the shops and restaurants. We also explored the nearby towns of Kilmarnock and White Stone and even took a drive over to Williamsburg. The house was just the right size for the two of us and we enjoyed sitting out at night on the porch and relaxing with a glass of wine! Definitely would spend another weekend in Irvington and stay at The Blue House!
The Little Blue House is so charming and delightful. From the moment I booked the home, I felt as ease. Laura was so kind, giving me lots of advice on places to go (Merrior, Dog and Oyster) and plenty of advice on how to make this a memorable and stress free vacation.
Irvington is a super little town with tons of personality and charm. My husband and I loved all it had to offer.
The home was clean, beautiful and perfectly located where you could walk to restaurants, museums, a winery and bar.
We will definitely stay at the Blue House in the future.
Thanks Laura for giving us the most relaxing vacation in years.
Charming and full of personality, nicely located for easy walking to downtown, community tennis courts or strolling to The Tides Inn. The Little Blue House is well appointed and comfortable for a small family. Lovely, helpful owners make this a terrific place to stop and getaway!
My friend and I were attending a wedding at the near by Tides Inn. We wanted to stay close to the venue but away from the resort. I found this little beauty here on VBRO. The home is a beautiful little cottage, nestled just outside of 'downtown' Irvington. We arrived to the home and were instantly surprised. This cottage may seem small on the outside, but it is much bigger than you'd think. The homeowners are very communicative with any questions or problems you may have, as well as recommendations for food and attractions.
This was my first trip to Irvington and when I return, I will be staying here again!
This was our 3rd stay and 2nd Christmas at the Blue House in order to celebrate with elderly parents living at RWC, a wonderful retirement community in Irvington. Easy to decorate the mantle with local pine cones and a few snips of holly for a holiday feeling inside. Holiday treats from local specialty shops like Carried Away (Kilmarnock) or River Market (White Stone) made meals at home easy and festive. At the Tides Inn down the street you can experience an old-fashioned Christmas. A recent upgrade of high speed internet including Netflix streaming upstairs or downstairs. The round dining room table made playing cards fun and comfortable for all from the 92 year old to the twenty-something. The owners are very responsive should you have questions. With the crazy warm weather this year, the patio was usable. A cozy, comfortable, clean and well appointed house with lots of style. Happy New Year!
