About Jamie Zito

Deb Zito has owned and operated Cactus Jack's Trail Rides LLC for the last 5 years in Ocala, Florida. When the stables at Rock Springs Run Reserve became available for a new horseback riding vendor, Deb and Jamie Zito decided to take on this beautiful new location. Along with the horseback riding, the Hammock House rental seemed like a great addition. We have always had customers ask 'Is there a romantic place to stay?' Now we can offer this amazing home to riders, and non-riders.....everyone will enjoy it!

Jamie Zito purchased this house in 2013

Why Jamie Zito chose Central Florida

This home is all made from pecky cypress. It was originally a rancher's home. It sits in a 14,000 acre park and is right on the Wekiva River.

What makes this house unique

It has a barn/stable for guests to bring their own horses, or they can go riding at the riding stable in the park. Hiking is encouraged and wildlife is seen daily.

Hammock House review

  • 2 of 5

The location was beautiful. It was also easily accessible. The property manager was easy to contact. However, the house itself was generally rundown. It was also dirty when we got there and lacked complete stocking of included necessities. For example---one washcloth for 6 people. Bedroom blinds were either partially missing and/or inoperable. Light fixtures needed bulbs. No lamps in bedrooms. The dishwasher had been loaded but not run. (full of dirty dishes). We had to wipe down all the counters and table before we could use them. There was one dish towel. The water pressure in the master bathroom was very low. It's a shame that they are allowing such a beautiful property to become so run down.

Owner's Response: These women demanded 4 sets of towels in ea bath. We purchased extra just for them The maid arrived and gave them more towels They said there were dishes in the DW There was a clean cup in the back. They left a tip for the maid and commended her on the how clean the house was .Then at check out they demanded a refund or they would write a bad review. That's what this is about. I have noted them I won't be held hostage Shame on them Hammock House Ha

Beautiful location!

  • 3 of 5

The house is on a beautiful piece of property on the Wekiva river. The owners were very helpful and Brandy, the housekeeper, was very nice and considerate. While our stay was nice, there are a few things that could have made our stay better. Firstly, the well water appears to be untreated. It smells horribly to the point that none of our party wanted to take showers or cook with it. A water treatment system would make a world of difference. The beds were pretty uncomfortable. One in particular had an issue where you would roll into the middle of two people slept in it. The cell and internet services were lack luster at the house, but that could be a blessing to some ;-).

The grill was awesome as were other amenities like the canoes onsite and the fully supplied kitchen. The scenery was gorgeous as well!

We had a very nice stay even with these concerns.

A few updates to the property would go a long way!

Oh, and beware of the bugs. There's some fairly aggressive bugs on the property that left me itching for days. Don't forget the bug spray!

Great family getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 8 enjoyed the weekend at hammock house....the perfect weather helped! The house has plenty of space and pans and utensils for cooking. There is a huge new grill which unfortunately ran out of gas as the previous renters had left the gas bottle on. But that got fixed and we grilled all 3 nights. We had 2 fires in the fire pit and took advantage of the available canoes to explore the wekiva river. We loved the back deck overlooking the river. Hammock house could be a five star experience with a few small upgrades....many lights were dim or burned out so the house is not as pretty at night as it should be. The pool room really needs more light and the laundry room after dark is downright scary! Basic window washing and vertical blind repair would also help. But we had a ball. Played corn hole and bocci and visited the horses...we will be back.the kelley family, kissimmee

Highly recommended - nature at its best.

  • 5 of 5

Our family is so large we don't fit well just anywhere but this home worked well. We had twenty something people, toddler, baby and three horses. We did use living quarters horse trailer there as well for extra sleeping area. Rented extra horses at the stable so everyone who wanted to got to go on trail riding. Enjoyed the Wekiva River in kayaks right from the backyard everyday as we had perfect weather. Great nature hikes yet only short drive to mall and grocery store. Many good family memories which are cherished forever. Great place to get away from it all yet convenient.
