Our Ranch Home Offers A Quiet Los Angeles Experience In A Great Neighborhood.

This is a family home experience for an executive away on vacation or moving into the area. The four bedroom home is very comfortable and updated in a top school district with award winning, El Camino Real High School. The area has long term, upscale residents due to its proximity to Warner Center, area colleges, and the local beauty of the Santa Monica Mountains and beaches.

The home is a vacation style rental starting at $350 to $500 night up to eight persons. The home rents from 4 nights to 28 nights at a time with special rates for films and events with larger parties. Longer periods may be available for corporate or insurance needs upon request. The house features lots of natural sunlight, tall vaulted ceilings, spacious rooms and expansive windows. It has the mid century modern feeling of walls of glass overlooking a sparkling pool as you enter the voluminous entry and living room. The flooring is largely bamboo wood, all the counters are stone and the finishes have been recently upgraded, including three remodeled bathrooms. The decor is contemporary Pacific Rim style and relaxed to give you a private resort ambiance.

The backyard of our property is perfect for barbecues, sun bathing, wine tastings and dining by the pool. The pool is 40 ft long and ideal for swimming laps and having fun with the kids. The pool is naturally heated by our sun-filled days but we can use a pool cover if you require extra heat in the pool. This is a suburban family neighborhood and perfect for walks in the evenings or strolls around Calabasas Lake. The area also has lots of fine dining, area malls and easy proximity to shopping.

The activities in the area are abundant with local Malibu and Central coast wineries as well as the beach just 15 minutes away. We are also thirty to forty minutes from Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. Some great day trips would be to Santa Barbara, Malibu Wineries, Magic Mountain, The LA Zoo, Universal Studios, Disney Land and Knott's Berry Farm. There are ALWAYS film openings, live music, art galleries and concerts with numerous local venues. We also have a Saturday Farmer's market in Calabasas and a nice Old Town area with a biker's bar. You will never be without something fun to do!

I worked in the Los Angeles real estate development community as as Project Designer and Design Manager. My goal was to work in the vacation rental business where I could own and manage my own properties while also seeing the world. After many, many years that is what I am doing!

Why Sarah chose Los Angeles area

This property is very nice because of its mid century architecture and location close to area beaches and parks. The open feeling with lots of natural light and its expansive pool view is very calming and filled with good energy.

What makes this house unique

The pool views to the backyard from all the major rooms gives you a sense of outdoor living, imbued with light. The neighborhood setting on a large corner is also very tranquil. This location has easy freeway access so you can get anywhere quickly.

Sarah was an amazing host for letting us use her home for our vacation. This house was very spacious for the 7 adults who were on the trip. I loved the master bedroom,the shower and jetted tub were simply amazing. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a get away!! Thanks Sarah,I will be using your home again in the future!

Beautiful, in and out!

My family and I stayed for the 4th of July weekend and absolutely loved this property! The backyard area and pool are beautiful and definitely give you the summer vacation feel. The inside was very comfortable and all the rooms were super cool! Unfortunately, we didn't get the use of the bath tub in the master bedroom because it was broken when we arrived. Also, there were some lights in the dining room that didn't work, maybe needed new bulbs, and there were still personal items like clothing and such that were left inside the house during our stay which didn't bother us but I haven't stayed in a rental where that was done before, haha. But other than those things, I would have given this place 5 stars =] we really enjoyed it! Beautiful place, inside and outside. And the pictures on the site don't do the home justice!

Nice property but plumbing issues need addressing

A nice home, we were greeted by the home owner upon arrival, very nice pool and garden area.

Unfortunately there are plumbing problems, known issues of blocked or overflowing toilets that have not been rectified (toilet paper not allowed in main bathroom toilet and second toilet known to backup and overflow (which it did).

Overall a nice stay but the plumbing issues definitely need to be addressed.

Owner's Response: Thank you for selecting the comfort of our our property over local hotels. Since this is an older home, we do experience drain problems once or twice a year as is normal. It has never seemed to bother anyone else, since a plumber takes only 30 minutes to correct the blockage and we maintain the property very carefully and no issues were apparent to our cleaning staff prior to this guest's arrival. This guest did, however, go out of his way to kindly use a plunger. It's a shame this upset his visit since, there is so much the property has to offer- such as the enormous pool area, new floors, nice pool furniture, new upholstery, movie screen, high end speakers, barbecue, large rooms and location near area attractions and Santa Monica beaches. This guest was here to enjoy his daughter's wedding and not to have to worry about toilet paper, so we will certainly check our plumbing lines in advance for future guests!

Nice place in the valley with a really nice pool.

The house was great - very California ranch house kind of feel. The pool was big and rather deep, actually. Once it was a diving pool, I think, but the board has been removed. The two master bedrooms look out on the pool, as well as the main living room. There is a dining room, but we never used it as we ate all of our meals at one of the many tables on the patio.

The house was very clean, and well maintained. We had a few issues on check in, but the manager was very responsive and sent a housekeeper to deal with all of them rather quickly, so we can't complain there.

The only small issue we had was that the advertisement is for a 4 bedroom, but the small print in the ad clarifies that it's actually a 3 bedroom, and the 4th bedroom is available as a suite addition. I can see why she did it this way, as the HomeAway website does not really lend itself to that kind of precision in the search algorithm, and she obviously wanted tomake it clear that it had 4 bedrooms for those looking for a 4 bedroom. We paid the extra for the extra suite and used it - but to be honest, the suite is only separated from the main house by a pretty thin door, so if you actually get double booked with someone in the suite... you're gonna have to say hello to them every now and then - especially as they share the pool and patio.

All in all, a good bargain, and a good experience.

Yes, this pool was once a diving pool but was recently remodeled so it is over-sized at 20'x40' on over a quarter acre lot. We are getting away from offering the three bedroom option, as privacy seems to be the over-riding factor in booking a private home as a vacation rental. We wanted to offer a more cost friendly option, but for this type of rental, it really has not the main concern. Again, thank you for your time in providing this review!

This is a great location in the west San Fernando Valley and close to Warner Center. The area is easily accessible to downtown Los Angeles, local beaches and area attractions. Residents enjoy the area due to a more quiet, suburban setting with upscale communities, great schools and many local parks and beaches.
