Too expensive for what you get.

  • 2 of 5

This apartment, with it's uneven floors and vintage -meaning old - kitchenette and bathroom, has a certain charm. But the building entry is shabby and there's a fair amount of street noise. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were thin and cheap. There were inadequate towels (one bath towel and a hand towel per person for four days), no microwave, a broken down coffee maker, not enough utensils or plates. Everything was old and well-used. The arrangements were prompt and on time, but requests for minor things were met with a shrug and a "no."

We found a number of less expensive hotels nearby that were newer and served coffee and breakfast snacks. (I checked out a random room, and it was perfectly modern and fine.) Also, I'm glad it was May, as I think it will get quite hot in there as the season progresses. If you want a lot of privacy, this might do. But it's too costly for what you get.

Great location, bare bones inside

  • 3 of 5

I wanted a place that would put me within walking distance to much of the LES's historic locals. This apartment fit the bill, and for that reason I was satisfied. I was, however, hoping to be able to do a bit more cooking at home to keep costs down during my week in NY, and that proved more challenging.

The description of some of the amenities is a bit misleading. The listing includes "microwave" and "toaster" as kitchen amenities, but neither of them is in the apartment. Only 1 out of the 4 burners would light, making cooking more challenging.

The linens were provided and were clean, and the wifi was easy to connect to with a strong signal.

Overall, the price was a steal and you get what you pay for. I would just suggest that the list of included amenities be updated to reflect what is actually there as well as getting the range fixed.

Owner's Response: Hi Megan ALL of the burners work, you probably just did not take the time to figure out how to work them, you have to turn the knob all the way in one direction so the pilot kicks in. There is a LARGE toaster in the middle of the kitchen next to the coffee maker, there is no microwave in the apartment because i do NOT have one advertised in the listing, so to say you saw none is a misleading review. thank you

Excellent Location and Price

  • 5 of 5

The property is well-maintained and clean, as expected for the neighborhood and price-point. Comfortable for two people. The property is a little slight on the amenities, 1-roll of toilet paper and too few towels. Could benefit from the addition of a couple of dish towels, and a bath mat, at least, but there was enough to make do with, and we were comfortable. It would just be a little better with the addition of those linens. There was a large rug stored in the only available closet. It limited the storage space there, but we were still able to fit our bulky suitcases and hang clothes despite the intrusion of the rug. The kitchen amenities are bare minimum, but doable for cooking... however, like most visitors, we weren't spending much time cooking with the abundance of delicious eateries just steps away. Overall great place, great location, and the elevator was a must-have after hours of walking the city!

We loved the location. As advertised.

  • 5 of 5

We loved that there was a nice little ramen place across the street and we were in easy walking distance to Chinatown and little Italy. Fun area to explore and close enough to the more touristy spots (Broadway, times square, central park etc) to make a long walk, hop in a cab (or Uber), or take the subway. It wasn't a luxury apartment or anything but it was convenient, comfortable, and as advertised. The only slight negative was that we weren't able to coordinate how to pick up the key until the day of which made me a little nervous but that was as much on me as anything else and also worked out very smoothly once we coordinated. No complaints at all.

Good location on Lower East Side

  • 3 of 5

Overall this was satisfactory but there were a few glitches. Though I booked months in advance, it seemed it was VRBO's policy to not release the exact address until shortly before my arrival date. Communication was not the greatest between all parties involved. When there was somewhat of an emergency in the apartment, there was nobody in the building who could provide assistance, and the manager could not come to help until the following day, which would have been unacceptable. I had to ask for more towels (only 2 towels were provided for 6 days for 2 people) and a sheet so that we wouldn't have to sleep under the too-warm quilt. No sheet was provided even after my request. You couldn't open a window but there was A/C. The kitchen supplies were an odd choice - why provide muffin tins but no teaspoons? Nobody is going to bake muffins while on vacation in New York! The TV had minimal cable channels but did have Netflix and Hulu. Location was great - near subway and tons of eateries. Street noise was to be expected (sirens). Nice hot shower even if tub is old.

Owner's Response: The above guest stayed at the apartment with her husband, pre arrival it appears she did not bother access the reservation manager for the complete address. The emergency the guest had was her not being able to turn the knob to cut the hot water off, when her husband came home he simply turned the knob off. This leaves me to believe she struggled to turn the knob the opposite direction. The knob turns on and off the same way it has for years with no issues. They did request more towels and more towels were delivered right away. The apartment was left in fair condition.
