The lovely Ince Kas House is a heavenly refuge in the heart of Beyoglu. The great property with four bedrooms offers space for up to 8 people. It is especially suitable for families, groups of friends or business travelers who are traveling together and like the comfort of a central house instead of a hotel. The house is spread over three floors. The entry floor with a fully equipped American kitchen is followed by a dining and living area and also small cozy patio garden. Living Istanbul purchased this house in 2013
The neighborhood is quiet and seems quite safe, there are very useful shops ( grocer, produce, 3 bakeries, alcohol shop within 2 to 3 blocks on very quiet street that leads out to a major street ( Talarbashi Road). The metro is not really that close and taxis are often unwilling to accept a short distance fare; there is a bus stop not too far away on Talarbashi road if walking is not a problem for anyone and you are brave enough to act like a local and use the bus system.
There is also an excellent newly opened kebab place right next to the grocer on your way back to the apartment. There is a tiny coffee shop for locals who are friendly to visitors.
The apartment itself is "minimalist" but functional. We were missing many lightbulbs, and some basic amenities for the kitchen were lacking ( salt, sugar, paper towels, napkins, kitchen towels, hot pads) and the bathrooms did not have any bath soap.
The furniture is awkward and not very appealing although comfortable. There is very little artwork and the walls are mostly bare. We bought flowers to brighten up the place. The beds are comfortable and the linens clean.
Very helpful is the washing machine and the place had a good heating system; I suspect in hot weather that the ventilation is good and that it is comfortable without air conditioning.
Great location, walking distance to the main pedestrian street and subway station. Nice kebab place, bakery, and grocery store very close. The three floors in the townhouse gave enough common areas and also separations for our group. We used public transportation to reach Old Town;Istanbul cards were provided with the keys, we just had to load money in them.
The place was exactly as described, and it was clean, the wifi worked great. Very nice stay in Istanbul. I would recommend the place, and use it again, when our travels will bring us back to Istanbul.
Ince Kac House is the best place to stay when visiting Istanbul. It's only 10 min to walk from the Center of Beyoglu. It’s a beautiful house cozy and tastefully decorated. We felt completely at home and it was the perfect place to relax after walking around the whole day. Gülriz, our host, was totally sweet. She took care to organize the pickup from the airport and back although we traveled with two groups. We didn’t miss anything. Even free table water & charger cables were available.
We loved it and will come back very soon.
This house is a real find. It is located on a quiet residential area, and is within easy access to the main pedestrian street. It is also a quick taxi ride to all of the city's key attractions.
We loved the house because it is large, comfortable, and the back yard patio is perfect for relaxing after a long day sightseeing. The pictures are very accurate. The beds are comfortable, there is lots of space, and the bathrooms are spotless.
Many small shops nearby make it easy to live like a local.
Jens replied to all of my emails almost instantly, and was a true professional. I highly recommend the airport pick-up as it can be stressful to figure things out, and the private driver made all go smoothly.
We look forward to returning to Istanbul, and will certainly re-book the house.
Many thanks for a great holiday!
My days in Istanbul were amazing. In my opinion it's one of the most interested citys I've ever met. One reason, why I had such a perfect trip was the beautiful house in the center of Istanbul. The position is perfect, you can reach the most beautiful places in a short time. The accomodation is perfect for a family or a group of people, it's very roomy and lovingly furnished. There is everything what the heart desires. And if somithing is missing, or you have a few questions, you can ask every time and you will be helped immediately. The Highlight was the little garden, were you can sit together and drink vine with your friends.
So if you want to go to Istanbul and live in a lovely house than I think this will be the perfect choice for you.
The district of Aynali Cesme (translation: “fountain with mirrors”) is part of the historical core of modern-day Beyoglu, formerly known as “Pera.” At the end of the 19th century, a devastating fire destroyed most of the traditional wooden architecture in this neighbourhood but was completely rebuilt afterwards. Oddly enough, thanks to this catastrophe, the district offers a unique and complete collection of the architectural styles from around the turn of the 19th/ 20th century. Old Greek buildings with oriel windows overlooking the narrow streets are characteristic of this part of the city. Thus, with a bit of knowledge, a stroll back home equates to a stroll through a crucial time in modern Istanbul history. Our apartment in Aynali Cesme are a far cry from the neighbourhoods of tourists and carpet-sellers. Surrounded by locals conducting their daily affairs and children playing in the street, your base in Istanbul is easily compared to a Turkish village rather than a contrived tourist attraction. Nevertheless, you’re in the heart of Istanbul from where you are only minutes away from the famous pedestrian boulevard ‘Istiklal Caddesi’ which leads you directly to Taksim Square, the transportation hub of modern Istanbul. From there, all major attractions, such as the Sultanahmet district with the world famous Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, are in close reach.
