Wonderful location but the house needs repairs and improvements. The owner was slow to respond.

We come in for the Snaffle Bit Futurity every year. This year I needed a house for guests. I knew this area well and even though there were some negative reviews about a smell and no extra toilet paper or paper towels, I thought we would give it a shot because I really like the area. The booking and payment ahead of time was easy through VRBO.

I messaged the owner via email a few weeks before arrival and asked for more details since I had booked about 6 weeks before the stay. I wanted to know the address and how to pick up the key at arrival. The response took a few days and when I read it, I was kind of shocked. "You will get the information 1 or 2 days before arrival. Tanks." I was really worried I was going to be scammed, out $2000, and scrambling to find a place. I tried to communicate that to the owner about a week before arrival but received no reply. On the Friday before the Sunday arrival, I wrote again and got a reply with address and instructions for the key late Friday evening. So he did keep his word. When we arrived, we did notice a weird, garlic-like or pungent smell in the house. I was not very bothered, but one of my guests thought it was horrid. We did supply our own extra TP and paper towels. There were no tissues, so we bought Kleenex.

The furnishings are very dated, the microwave door handle is broken off and the A/C does not cool of the upstairs rooms, especially the master. The kitchen does have some dishes and plates, but it is a hodge podge, especially the flatware, where we could only find one small spoon. Pots and pans were there, but everything looked and felt dirty. Nice big coffeemaker, but looked unclean and was old. Took forever to brew. Upper level living room window was broken and taped up, partially.

The third upstairs bedroom with the twin beds has huge teddy bears, a bit scary, as well as taking up space need to lay out stuff since there are no available closets. Almost all closets and the entire garage were locked up for the owners use. The sinks in the upstairs master don't drain well and are missing the closing mechanisms. The toilets don't flush great and the downstairs one is malfunctioning. I got the flush mechanism rehooked onto the handle, but it makes some funny noises.

As I said, the neighborhood is great. The back yard is beautiful. The hottub cover was broken and I doubt it works. We were so busy that it did not matter. I hope they fix things.

Ok home. Big backyard.

There was not enough toilet paper for us in the house. We ran out 2 no day in. and the ac was difficult to maintain in the house. The house was very warm. No fans for circulation. Beds were comfortable.

Would definitely stay here again. The house is a little dated, but has everything you need for a great stay. Very convenient to shopping, restaurants, etc.

Nice and cozy house in a nice neighborhood!

  • 5 of 5

Very well located in between Reno (20min) and Tahoo (1+ hours). The bedrooms are awesomely furnitured with comfortable and clean bed/bedding. We enjoyed the pool table and barbecue in the backyard, which is also awesome and very well taken care off! ...I'm already planing to go back some time!

...I can't think of anything to complain! It was just perfect!
