Written in The New York Times, Staten Island, St. George is the Safest neighborhood as there is the 120 police station 2 blocks away and always FREE parking in front of the garden wall below the front of the house. The view from the front windows is of the year round flowering garden and beyond (the new 4 story parking garage) is the Hudson Harbor with a skyline view of New York City, the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. In summer there is a 8,000 BTU air conditioner to cool the apartment and in winter is a wood stove space heater. Everything is fresh and clean, newly renovated with comfort and beauty in mind for your pleasure. The living has a full sized sofa bed and a flat screen cable TV. Wifi is free and consistent.

Very private, located in a old Victorian home but an entirely separate apartment. The neighborhood is safe and extra convenient to all public transportation. Only a 10 minute walk to the free ferry to Manhattan but there are bus stops near the house so taking a bus to the boat is easy.

Enjoyed our visit

My wife and I stayed here for a quick visit to NYC. We enjoyed our stay though we weren't there much beyond the time required to take a shower and sleep. Apartment was clean and very convenient in terms of location! 5-10 minute walk to the ferry. From front door to midtown via ferry and subway was 40 minutes. Save yourself some money, and enjoy the view from the ferry as you have your morning coffee.

Great stay and fabulous owners!

Our youngest had a track meet at Ocean Breeze Athletic which is what brought us to Staten Island. We wanted to make the most of our trip and planned to also visit NYC while we were there.

We're a family of four: two adults and an 8 and 10 year old. The apartment was snug, but comfortable for us. Any more than 4 people may be very tight though.

The kitchen had everything we needed: 2 burner stove, full size refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee maker, microwave, pots/pans, utensils, etc. Some basic supplies were also provided such as coffee, spices, napkins, paper towels etc which was nice because we overlooked picking them up when we bought groceries. The apartment had cable tv, dvd player and free internet. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal for us since we spend most of our time sightseeing, but we were extremely grateful for it when we were snowed in one day and our kids were kept well occupied. :-) (We picked up movies at a Redbox the day before!)

The location was perfect. We were within a short walking distance to the free ferry to NYC which we used almost every day we were there. We also rode the bus to Cloves Park to go sledding. The bus stop was just across the street.

The owners are fabulous. Robin is a sweetheart! We've stayed at a number of vrbo's in the past and this is the first time we've had an owner make such an impression on us that we actually missed her when we left. She treated us more like friends than clients and offered advice and help throughout our stay. She was easy to get a hold of and responded to our questions right away. Best of all, she helped steer us clear of making "out of towner" mistakes.

If we are ever in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Classic, cozy New York home in convenient location

This is a very cozy apartment in an old, but well maintained New York home. Note it's only for those who can handle stairs. A nice alternative to expensive hotels because you can shop and cook on your own. All the basics are included in the kitchen & bath, plus TV and free WiFi. It's walking distance to the Staten Island Ferry so it's easy to get into Manhattan and you get a picturesque view on the way. Ferry terminal also has eating options, a post office, etc. Street parking is easy if you have a car, but best to leave it there during the day or come in after 7 at night when the commuters clear out. Neighborhood is safe, one block from the police precinct. Owners Robin and Stan are great!

Cute little place to stay

My mom and I were in town for the week and enjoyed our stay here. Right around the corner from the bus that takes us right to the ferry to Manhattan. Quaint little kitchen was great to heat up left overs. Wonderful owner who chatted us up a few times. Quiet area with no reason to feel unsafe.

Oasis from NYC

This apartment was a great oasis from New York City. It was rather hot & humid during our trip. The air conditioners were wonderful and it was great to know that we could count on them to cool us off from a long day of sightseeing.

The apartment was just like the pictures and is beautifully decorated and very comfy. It was so wonderful to have room for the 4 of us to stretch out and have our own personal space.

The FREE Staten Island Ferry is a 10 minute walk from the apartment. I am frugal and always looking for ways to save money on our travels. The ferry was a great way to save some money. It is a beautiful ride into NYC with amazing views. We rode the ferry at night on our last day and were treated to some spectacular views. Please take advantage of this!

Robin was absolutely wonderful to work with and was easily accessible by e-mail and phone during our stay. She made everything run very smoothly and was very much appreciated.

The only negatives of our experience- parking and neighborhood litter (neither of which could be controlled by Robin). Parking during the week was crazy. Weekends were much better and there were several spots near the house. We eventually found a spot in front of the house and didn't move our car until our trip was over. If you are like us, do your grocery shopping when you get there and then take advantage of the ferry, no need to drive. This is also an extension of the city and people are litter bugs, which drives me crazy. I just had to pretend I didn't see it. Even though it wasn't the cleanest neighborhood, we always felt safe in the apartment and walking to/from the ferry.

One evening we walked across the street and went to a Staten Island Yankees game. We met some very friendly people who gave us great advice on sightseeing. It was a fun night for a great price.

I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to friends traveling to the area. Robin has done a great job creating a special place to spend some time in NYC. We would be happy to return to Robin's property if we ever find ourselves in New York again.

Wonderful little apartment

The apartment is little as indicated but served our purpose, very clean and neatly organized. The free ferry is a close 5 - 8 minute walk which is important because this was our daily transportation to and from the city. It was sad to see the construction across the street from the apartment because it does block your view of the City skyline. I recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere to sleep at night and want easy access to the city. Robin is very responsive to any texts or emails. Enclosing a great place for the price.

Owner's Response: I think this guest meant Endorsing not Enclosing. Yes the view is gone due to EDC's stupid insistence that the New York Wheel have 930 parking spaces and that they should be contained in a 4 story cement 'bunker', but that will be completed by next year, 2017. If you come to stay in 2017 or thereafter you will have great proximity to the tallest Ferris Wheel in the USA plus a great new outlet mall.
