King-sized beds in each bedroom, plus a den with 2 sofa sleepers. Plenty of space to cook, visit, grill, or chill make this town home ideal for family time. See the sights, visit the museums, then come back for dinner before heading back out to catch the memorials by moonlight - no organized tour required! Or stroll along the waterfront, just three blocks away.
We loved the house. Amazing location and overall perfect for our party of five. Gorgeous quiet street that gave us more flavor of the city than hotels ever could. Ten minute walk (or less!) to SW attractions, Metro, bike share, grocery. Deborah is lovely - quick to respond to questions and easy to work with.
This place is fantastic. House is huge and extremely comfortable. It is immaculately clean. Neighborhood is quiet. Owners are very accommodating. Parking is a plus. Subway (Metro) very short walk. Hope its available for next years visit.
I must apologize for the lateness of this review, because both the property and the owner are amazing. First, the owner. Deborah really makes you feel as if you are long lost family members. She is precise, timely and gracious in her responses. She has a lot of helpful, up to date tour books in the unit, as well as lanyarded metro passes.
Now the townhouse. Clean, spacious, beautifully appointed. The kitchen had everything ( even a corkscrew which is useful after a LONG day walking) My exchange student kept exclaiming how soft the bath towels were! And what a joy to be so close to the National Mall as well as a CVS and a Safeway Supermarket. It has already been noted by other reviewers that we are in close proximity to a major Metro station (D'Estaing). But we are also within a 5 minute walk of a Virginia Express train station which can get you out of town to historical locations such as Manassas and Fredericksburg. My only caveat for some guests is that you are in a residential area; you will have to travel intracity for a restaurant. But so what? We ate our breakfasts and most dinners in, ate light lunches at some of the great museum cafeterias (try the one in the Museum of the American Indian, it is incredible!), and splurged one night at the new Wolfgang Puch restaurant, the Source. Then we walked back to our home away from home.
One final note. Having reserved parking right around the corner was such a benefit. I was so grateful, I actually cleaned off the light snow from a neighbors car! And it feels like a neighborhood, with plenty of jiggers and dog walkers. I can not wait to get back. Thanks for everything, Deborah!
The listing description was quite accurate regarding location, layout and amenities. Basically had everything we needed, and it was clean and well maintained. The owner, Deborah, was incredibly responsive and provided terrific customer service, we would definitely recommend the property to others. Was a perfect match for our family. Lots of room to hang out together, and then plenty of privacy in the evenings. One of the best aspects of the property is its location, super close to many of the main tourist attractions on the Mall. Even in the cold weather, we walked to many great spots. But with the metro close by and parking steps from the home, lots of transportation options. Would highly recommend to anyone coming to DC for a great stay. Elliot
As I ate breakfast in the dining room I was sitting where John Adams may have been reading his paper, looking out by a gas lamp and cherry tree over the safe residential streets. After soaking up the charm, we went off to see the sights. This is a very relaxing way to see Washington, because you can bustle until you are tired out then escape to a neighborhood. As a senior I liked the ability to walk to the store or Mall safely. The property was immaculate and very convenient, stairs were good exercise.
After our short drive in from the Reagan airport, we parked the car in our designated spot, and it was quick and easy to settle into this comfortable home. I have recommended this to several friends here in San Diego, who like to take their grandchildren to Washington, as I plan to take mine. The house has plenty of room for both family activities and separation. With the WiFi and printer, we could be connected as much as we wanted with the outside world. The house was clean and neat, passing the white glove test, and the beds were comfortable. A bathroom on each floor was handy. The mixture of old world charm and proximity to the National Mall and waterfront neighborhood make this an excellent destination for business or pleasure.
Had a lovely stay in mid-November. The owners are so responsive---I asked for a specific key code for the front door, and they came and changed it for me---so no worries about remembering it! The whole house is very clean and well-furnished---including some food and snacks, which certainly makes for a relaxing first day. Anything else I wanted was available at the nearby Safeway with underground parking. Can’t think of anything not provided…I even used the ironing board. The large beds feel quite luxurious, and the neighborhood is quiet and charming. I liked the glass block shower in the top floor master bath. I loved being able to walk almost everywhere, or take the Metro (the owners had provided some passes!!), but I had a convenient parking spot for the car. Getting to and from the airport (DCA) was so quick and easy—and scenic! I could see the floating fish market and the USS Sequoia (the former presidential yacht), which I hope to check out next time. It would be great to stay there in the spring and see the huge cherry tree in bloom in front of the house! How nice to look out onto the patio, too. Highly recommend this place to all; I was on a business trip, but it really makes sense for a family to stay here so they can really enjoy the Capital in a most convenient and comfortable way.
Walk to the Smithsonian museums on the National Mall, where you can catch tour buses or Metro to see the capital. Restaurants line the Marina, and a Capitol Bike Share station is just across from the new grocery store at Waterfront station.
