Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)
About Paul Penniman
Hi, I am a lifelong educator, currently running a non-profit organization in Anacostia for high school students and graduates.
Paul Penniman purchased this Condo in 2002
Why Paul Penniman chose Bethany Beach
This property is close to the tennis center and has a great view of the woods from the deck, which stays cool during the summer afternoons. The condo is NOT close to any bus stop. That is its one incurable defect. The condo is downstairs, so just the two steps from the parking lot are needed to get inside.
What makes this Condo unique
There is a collection of bikes in the storage shed. The bikes are not luxurious, but they are reliable.

Perfect family getaway
The entire trip was perfect for our family. We enjoyed the private amenities and the new kitchen was great (although I am the only one who could work the microwave lol). Thanks for a great stay!
Vacation & Value = Much needed family time!
The property itself has a recently renovated kitchen which was great. I had a one day AC problem which was handled quickly and the owner went beyond my expectations to correct that issue. The grounds had so much to offer, Indoor & outdoor pools, indoor & outdoor basketball courts, arranged family sports, bonfire, plus close to OC, Maryland and many other beaches plus mini golf, outlet shopping, & dolphin watching boat trips. Walked a lot, fished, played on the beaches, and had so much fun. Relaxed and enjoyed and will hopefully get back there. Loved the Bethany Diner. Three times. You, as noted, pay extra for use of the amenities but still the best deal around and very much worth it. I always like to put a few things I would change so that others can be assured the review is real: I would simply add a new toaster and get rid of the toaster oven which was the only not new thing in the kitchen, plus I think they're dangerous. And I would add a bunk bed with a full bed bottom in the guest room as opposed to the trundle bed. The trundle is difficult because it takes up too much room and makes it hard for the person on the bed to get off. Otherwise, so very happy with this vacation, owner, accommodations, and trip!
the location and the property were fantastic, the owner of the property was great. It was our first time to this area but plan to return next year.
Lots to do in area
Paul was super great at quickly responding to me running late to get here. There is a ton to do rehoboth beach and ocean city around 25 to 30 mins away easily went to both great spot in the middle of the 2. Outlets really close also for shopping.
My group and I arrived at this location, under the impression that the property would be a little bit older and out of style. We hadn't planned on spending too much time here anyways as we had a full itinerary. However, we were taken back by just how bad this rental would be. When we stepped in, we were struck by the smell. It smelled strongly of a mixture of mildew, mold, and wet dog food. It was pungent and seemed to follow us everywhere. When we went in to our respective rooms, we noticed that a large duvet had been covering the bed and that, once removed, there were no linens underneath. Only matresses whose covers had been ripped open over the years. We were forced to go out and get our own, we were under the impression that the beds would be made, as nothing in the description had suggested that we should provide our own. When we returned from linen shopping, we discovered a number of sticky notes strewn throughout the property with a number of messages on them from the owner, stains on the duvet, blankets and pillows that had been provided, and the large dripping bubble above the kitchen sink. We were also aware of how dirty the middle bathroom was and the stains and dirt in either bedroom carpet. The water pressure was incredibly low, so much so that we ended up showering at the SeaColony fitness center . We also found a spare pair of pants and some ace bandages hidden throughout the dresser in the master bedroom. Our party agreed that this was certainly a 2/5 star place and had it not been for the fitness center provided through Sea colony, it would have definitely been a 1/5. At the end of the day, we were all disappointed that the owner had offered us an opportunity to waive the cleaning fee if we agreed to clean up after ourselves only to find that the property wasn't clean upon arrival. If you decide to stay here regardless of what I've said, please bring some linens and your own blankets, a pair of nose plugs, and don't expect anything to be clean. Also make sure to bring your own toilet paper and paper towels as the owner won't provide any.
I am disappointed that Bryan and his group were unhappy with the condo. He and I had exchanged a signed agreement, as I do with all guests, stating that linens and towels are necessary to bring.
To try to keep costs down in the offseason, we ask guests to clean up after themselves and to leave supplies for the next group. If this was not done adequately before Bryan's arrival, he may have suffered as a result. I would like to offer him restitution, but he has not responded to my latest email to him.
I want to also point out that VRBO's relatively new platform (technically, the platform of Homeaway, the parent company) makes it difficult for guests and tenants to communicate effectively, but I am hoping we can do our best as Homeaway continues to work out the kinks.
Home was older and nothing fancy but clean and conveniently located. Can easily walk into downtown Bethany. Ideal for a few days at the beach for New Year's.
