A Work of Art, Walk to Canyon Road, Two Master Suites

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,100 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 5

Hidden on a quiet Eastside back street, in a neighborhood recalling the days of old Santa Fe, Artesano is a romantic two bedroom home completely remodeled in 2012. As soon as you step inside you will know the ordinary has been left behind. You will be living in a work of art - every aspect of the home has been handcrafted with remarkable attention to detail and harmony with its Southwestern surroundings. All within a short 10-minute walk to the galleries, shops and fine dining of Canyon Road and a 30-minute walk (1.6 miles) to the historic city center the Plaza.

The living room and kitchen began as a 1930’s adobe, and feature the original vigas above and new red sandstone floors below. A lovely wood burning fireplace awaits you in the living room. Relax comfortably in the living room on the colorful Afgan kazzak covered couch and Monterey chairs or put together an intimate dinner in the kitchen appointed with century-old hand-carved wood facings and new luxury appliances. Dine on a colorful mosaic table of lapis and other semi-precious stones beneath 200 year-old hand-painted wood columns and ceiling panels. Sip wine on the patio while watching the sun go down over the Jemez Mountains in the distance as you listen to the gentle burbling of the courtyard water fountain and hummingbirds buzzing overhead.

Begin and end your days in bedrooms decorated with beautiful imported carpets in each room, wood doors and hand-painted chests from the 18th century, ikat and hand-stitched suzani fabrics, scraped wood floors and coved adobe ceilings supported by hand-carved beams. Enjoy the new sub-floor forced-air central heating and cooling system, or open the windows to the cool mountain air and snuggle under hand-embroidered comforters. Each bedroom has its own full bath, with floor, walls and ceiling covered by original mosaics of brilliantly colored tiles collected from around the world, as well as hand-carved antique wood panels and soapstone latticework.

About Wendy Kapp

A note from Wendy Kapp- Owner of Two Casitas Santa Fe Vacation Rentals

Having been raised in Chicago, my soul longed for the massive blue skies and mountains I first saw when my mother, well-known watercolor artist Phyllis Kapp of Waxlander Gallery, introduced me to this magnificent area when I was 6 years old.

While returning west in 1975, I came through Santa Fe and fell in love with Northern New Mexico once again. I found the people here, especially back in '75, to be the most authentic people I had ever met and I decided to make Santa Fe my home. My extensive knowledge from living here for since 1975 makes me the perfect, local hostess to give you tips on making your stay memorable. I hope you come to love Santa Fe and, in-turn Two Casitas, as much as I do.

Wendy Kapp purchased this house in 2013

What makes this house unique

When you stay with Two Casitas you stay like a local, not like a tourist, and experience Santa Fe like you live here. Who knows, maybe you will someday!

Two Casitas , an experience in itself.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed three lovely nights in Santa Fe. Our casita couldn’t have been more perfect. Quiet location, clean well managed with great communication . Two Casitas is a experience for the senses with the beautiful mosaics and antiques incorporated into a piece of art all on its own. Walking distance to canyon road shops and restaurants . Highly recommended!

What a great departure from the norm! Minutes from everything, and off the main road. We loved the decor, and the reclaimed wood furnishings. The tile work in the bathrooms is beautiful. We just loved the whole atmosphere of the place. Nicely done!

We enjoyed a most amazing time in this wonderful home. The artistry and workmanship are remarkable. Truly, like living in a work of art. In addition, everything was super clean and well organized. The welcome gift and personalized note made us feel right at home! Wish we could have stayed much longer. This is the best place to stay in Santa Fe!

Immaculate Casita

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect, amazing. We enjoyed everything from the comfort of the beds to the beautiful kitchen. The house was immaculately clean. This home is very warming and just around the block from restaurants and shops, even hiking trails. We had our small summer family gathering and every one was so pleased with the house. Most definitely we will return next year or even this winter.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review! There is no shortage of attention to detail in this wonderful home that takes you to far away lands with its amazing assortment of imported architectural detail in every room. It is a cozy space to gather with others both inside and outside. Close to Canyon Rd. its a beautiful walk to restaurants and the many galleries in that area.
