Beautiful lakefront stone cottage located on a large sandy beach formally known as Char-Nel-Shores! The home has two or three bedrooms, two full baths and large private sun room with pull out sofa that is used as a third bedroom. Enjoy plenty of beach walking and swimming. Entertain with three patios, fire pit, and relax every evening watching wonderful sunsets from the double swing ,the full size carosel horse , three tables or the abundant beach chairs. .From the yard and beach you can see several islands,many species of birds such as eagles,blue herins, white egrets, duck families,sand pipers. and diving terns. From the back yard you can walk almost a mile east and west in knee deep water with a sandy bottom. .

About Joh Rader

We were born and raised in Findlay Ohio and have two children who live and work in the Port Clinton area along with our two grandchildren that love playing and swim at our cottage. My wife and I have sold real estate for thirtysix years and own the Re/max for Ottawa Co. We moved to Port Clinton 15 years ago and have had a great experience with all the opportunities and amenities the area has to offer.This is our personal home 8 months out of the year and in the summer we move to Lakeside where our grandchildren also enjoy.This is a wonderfull place to visit while vacationing in our area as it takes you back to the ways we lived in the 1800s.

Why Joh Rader chose Ohio

We always wanted to own a house on the lake but we though we could never afford it and then a twist of fate gave us a chance to own our little piece of the lake through a real estate partnership that included converting an old hotel called char-nel shores into residential lots which we have since sold.Our house is all that is left from the original property.We have added a garage and 4 seasons -bedroom,new granite kitchen,2porches,shower,new walls and carpet.The furniture is not what you would expect to find in a rental as we have many amish pieces with upscale beds .new refrigerator,dishwasher,and new washer and dryer.

What makes this cottage unique

Not only does our house have a sandy beach but we have great views of the beautifull sunsets. We are also just one mile from Kroger and Wal-Mart. We also have over 100 restraunts in the summer within a 10 mile area.

This house should be taken off of home away!

This past weekend, my family and I stayed in this house, and were treated terribly by the owner. He lied and said that the house has a dishwasher and washer and dryer, which were broken when we tried to use them, causing stale stinky water to flood the house, leaving us with no towels for the weekend. When I called to explain we needed some more towels or something to ameliorate the situation, he told me that if I didn't like it, to leave! Well, that's not easy to do when you have three small kids, and people taking time off of work for vacation, and far away from home....we wished we could have! I don't think home away should represent such awful people that treat customers this way.

Great location

Pros: This house is close to the ferries, Marblehead, restaurants, shopping, etc. The view of the lake is lovely! It was nice to have a private beach in front of the house. We were even going to have a fire one night but it was too windy.

Cons: The house could use some deep cleaning in some parts. You can tell it had been surface cleaned and didn't smell but I could tell needed some scrubbing in some places. The dishwasher didnt work so we had to wash dishes in sink. One night when we let the water out of the sink, the water leaked all over the floor...running clear into the bathroom. I called and texted the owner and he came the next morning. He is a very nice gentleman and said he would work on it when we left...but I think it's nice for people to know this house needs some updates.

Overall: Nice place for sure. What you're really getting is a great location with a nice view and okay amenities. House needs some updates and deep cleaning but is functional and nice.

Comfortable and convenient lakefront house

The beds and couches were comfortable, the kitchen convenient and Lake Erie just a few steps from the sunroom door. Very peaceful and quiet yet Krogers and Walmart just minutes away. The owner, John, was friendly and gracious. We look forward to returning.

Fantastic Stay

The house is very comfortable and beautifully situated on the lake. My family came up to stay for my cousins wedding. My grandfather was able to navigate the house easily, and extended family we able to stop and visit him before the wedding. The house has easy access to a Kroger, the ferry, Sandusky, and Marblehead. There is also plenty of parking. I loved being able to drink coffee on the porch watching the lake and having a fire in the evening. We all agreed we would stay again.
