VILLA SEASHELL ~ Our oceanfront home is located in the gated resort of Coral Estate (24/7 security) on the west side of Curacao. It is the perfect place to stay with family and friends and enjoy the blue Caribbean sea, the warm sunny days and the starry nights.
The closest beach, with crystal-clear, warm, calm blue water, is only 200 yards from your doorstep (2 minutes drive or very short walk). It is perfect for diving, snorkelling, swimming, lounging, and tanning.
Here you also find the fine dine and lounge restaurant Karakter and a friendly dive school that besides offering PADI courses, also arranges boat tours and kayak rental.
THE EXTERIOR ~ the true key to our property is its West-facing position, and the absolutely amazing and huge back porch, and charming lower viewing thatched-roof cabana. It offers 8+ lounge seating, shade, a continuous sea breeze, the relaxing sound of waves, and a wide view of the ocean. There is always something to see: small fishermen boats, large cruise ships, pelicans, turtles, and because of the crystal clear water lots of tropical fish.
From the yard, you can walk to the deck above the Caribbean Sea. Here you can catch your own fish and enjoy the sunset.
The pool with a tiled sundeck and lounge chairs is an additional factor to enjoy...perfect for a dip when heading to the beach or out for a snorkel doesn't match your energy level.
THE INTERIOR ~Villa Seashell has an open floor plan with a living room, dining room, and a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen. Windows and shutters surround the villa and give panoramic views of the sea.
Since this used to be our primary home, our villa is not the typical vacation rental; it is filled with high-quality furniture, luxurious amenities, and architectural details.
Villa Seashell comprises 4 bedrooms all with en-suite full bathrooms. The two bedrooms on the first floor have two single beds, and the two bedrooms on the second floor both have a king size bed and entrance to a private terrace overlooking the Caribbean Sea. All bedrooms have air-conditioning and screens.

Hi, my name is Linda Lou Huiskes, I am the owner of Villa Seashell in Curacao.
Nothing is more rewarding than hosting families for their vacation of a lifetime. It is fantastic to see how our guests feel quickly at home and appreciate the attention we put into everything here. We are very often graced with fun and dynamic guests that make hosting Villa Seashell a great new experience each day.
Our family of four lives in Aruba. Your contact, Linda Lou, works as an artisan making beautiful jewelry and wall decorations from the treasures of the ocean. As the name implies, a lot of Linda Lou’s art can be found back at Villa Seashell.
We enjoy renting vacation homes ourselves. Our favorite destinations are the United States, Italy, and France. We’re avid snorkelers and mountain bikers.
Linda Lou Huiskes purchased this villa in 2008
Our family has always loved the tropics. We would travel the Caribbean to escape the cold Dutch winters. We felt in love Curacao; it has the best of both worlds, Caribbean with a Dutch flavor. The beautiful, warm, friendly people enticed us to make this place our home. We found this unique oceanfront villa with its breathtaking panoramic views five years ago and completely rebuilt it.
Besides going to one of the beautiful beaches, we like to venture out into the countryside and explore the rolling hills topped by plantation houses built more than three centuries ago, or visit the north coast, with its raw beauty.
On the northern side of the island, the rough sea has been smashing against the rocky coastline for centuries and has carved caves and little inlets into the rock. It is great to walk over the massive volcanic rocks and observe the wildlife, listen to the wind, and climb down into the caves to observe the waves crashing against its walls.
We also like to visit Willemstad, which is only a 20-minute drive. It has attractive stores, exquisite restaurants and rich architecture that tells a tale of its history.
Hato International Airport connects the island with the rest of the world, with direct daily flights to Europe, the United States and South America.
Our villa is not the typical vacation rental. It used to be our primary home, filled with high-quality furniture, luxurious amenities and architectural details.
The location of the villa is very unique; anyone going there just falls in love with it. The views of the ocean are breathtaking at all times of the year. Star-filled nights or a full moon shining across the ocean and lighting the pool for a night swim make this place a unique vacation spot.
The place we like best at Villa Seashell is the very large gazebo at the border of the ocean, with its 10-person lounge set, hammocks and dining table; and the wooden deck above the ocean where you can catch your own fish and enjoy the sunset.
This is a terrific house for a large group. Everything was just as the pictures showed. We had 7 in our group and everyone was comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the outside dining area was delightful. We used the chef recommended by the owner, Evelein Sipkes, and had a wonderful meal. Coral Estates has a good beach and dive shop and Karakter (the restaurant) is fantastic for lunch or dinner. Check in was a breeze and the house was clean and ready to go.
We snorkeled at a different beach every day. I would recommend trying to arrive by 10:30 as it did get busy as the day progressed. Some of our favorites were Playa Lagun, Klein Knip and Porto Marie. Porto Marie charges an entry fee but the beach is clean, there is a good bar and restaurant and the snorkeling off to the left was really good with warm shallow water. Three members of our group are cerified divers. They had several good dives and rented their equipment from the dive shop on Coral Estates.
I would recommend this house to my friends and relatives. Next time I will be sure to not come back to the USA via Miami! Customs was a zoo and it took almost 90 minutes to clear customs. The employees were surprisingly rude and the whole thing was very disorganized. Curacao customs were fine and friendly.
From the very start, Linda Lou was an excellent communicator - prompt replies to any questions we had and very welcoming. Would recommend D&D car rental for sure - pick up and drop off and easy process away from airport line ups! The pictures don't lie, they actually don't do it justice...you have to be there! Morning coffees on deck, glass of red wine at night in the cabana, watching ships cruise by in the warm breeze, swimming in the pool night and day, meandering down to Karakter to snorkel or have a drink by the sea all adds up to an unbelievable week of sheer paradise. Would return in a heartbeat!! A couple of things to bring that we didn't - water shoes and binoculars! Villa is fully stocked - it has eveything. Would highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay in Curacao. If you want a home with a beautiful location, this is the place to stay.
This is our 2nd stay at Sea Shell Villa. We love the view of the Ocean and especially watching the sunset each day. The house is absolutely beautiful and the pictures accurately show it off. It is so quiet and peaceful. We wish we could take this place with us everywhere we travel. I would definitely recommend this property to my friends and family. Linda Lou is a pleasure to work with, she is helpful in all aspects of the vacation. The property is well maintained and clean. If you are thinking of staying here, I would book now!
We have so many great things to say about our stay at Villa SeaShell and working with the property manager Petra and the property owner Linda Lou. They both went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and were always promptly responsive to any requests.
Linda Lou even had Petra go out an buy a baby bath prior to our arrival! great customer service.
The property was clean and well cared for. Our 2 year old LOVED getting to swim many times throughout the day. We feel the home worked very well for our family scuba vacation. If we return to Curacao for another dive trip, we will very likely plan our vacation dates around when the property is available. the location had dishwasher tablets, however I would remind you to bring a few 13 gallon trash bags while you are there.
the little annoying bugs you may experience on the back porch patio in the morning are really just that. annoying, but they don't bite, and it is just for a couple hours in the morning, and by the 2nd or 3rd day, you're pretty used to them. We had our 2 year old and our 5 month old baby out on the patio, and they didn't really seem bothered by the bugs either. My guess is, you will experience this anywhere on the island, so don't let that deter you from staying here. This place is amazing! had all the space we needed and more!
we spent most of our family time at the large table on the back patio. great views, comfortable temperature wise. wonderful.
There was no extra AC charge. everybody was comfortable without using AC in their rooms. We only used AC in one room downstairs where the baby and 2 year old took naps during the day. our usage did not exceed any limits, but would happily paid if it would have.
Secure location, often early mornings. I would be out walking with the baby watching the sun rise.
Great central location on the island and ease to the local dive shop just down the road (less than one mile away.)
The dive shop (Divers Replublic) had only bought that dive shop and had been operating it for a few months, so they even went out of their way to accommodate our group. They didn't have nitrox tanks in the volume we wanted, as we were 6 divers and doing the 10 tank (plus some more) packages during the trip. By about the 2nd day, they went and purchased new tanks for their shop, so they could serve us. Our group used 70 tanks during the stay there.
We loved Villa Seashell and Curacao. The house is beautiful and large (four bedrooms/five bathrooms.) It couldn't be better situated. It sits on a high cliff overlooking the churning surf of the sea. The kitchen has all the implements you need to cook in-home meals. The outside dining area has a table large enough to seat at least ten, possibly more and overlooks the sea. The extra bonus of a huge cabana next to the cliff's edge is a breathtaking place to cocktails and breakfast/lunch. The pool was well kept (very clean). And, there is plenty of snorkeling gear and flotation devices to take to nearby beaches. The carport is spacious for room for several cars, easily. Another bonus, there is a small fishing pier which juts out over the cliff. One of our traveling companions spent many hours fishing from this pier and caught enough for dinner several times over.
The house is about 25-30 minutes from Willemstad, a must-see for any visitor. The town's architecture, which is classic Dutch, boasts many restaurants, bars and stores. It's very lively AND affordable.
The house is also is about five minutes or less to the closest beach (Daaibooibay), which is an easy walk. And, within 25 minutes there are a dozen or more other breathtaking beaches. We went to a different one each day. Some charge a small fee (to enter or use the beach chairs), but all well worth the price. Most have places where you can buy drinks and food, too. Our favorites closest to the house were: Playa Portomari, Cas Abao, and Playa Kalki -- all provide some interesting snorkeling spots that are close to shore.
Petra, your on-site manager, is most gracious and took our calls immediately when we couldn't find out how to turn on the outside lights. The owner (Linda Huiskes) is very gracious and informative. Her 40+ page booklet on how to best use the house and things to do on Curacao is outstanding and sooooo useful.
Don't miss Shete Boca -- a national park that boast amazing views of the turbulent north shore, complete with blow-holes, natural bridges, water tableaus and caves.
If you gamble Holiday Beach Resort in Otrobunda (about 25 minutes away) has the best odds, if not the most glamorous.. We don't gamble much, but all of us walked away ahead of the game. It also is among the largest casinos in Curacao, 300+ slot machines. The Renaissance Casino in Willemsted is beautiful, but the slots pay-off rarely.
Curacao has become our favorite of the Caribbean Islands.
We differentiate ourselves from other vacation rentals in the area by providing our guests with excellent information on restaurants, things to do, hiking & biking trails, water sports and other activities. Should you have any upfront questions on this, just let us know.
