Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + double pullout, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Don't be misled by area rentals charging more and offering less, with rocky shores and poor swimming. Watch the Long Lake sunset over our secluded bay as you roast brats over the campfire. Along with an extensive play area for kids of all ages, we offer a private boat ramp, and safe, secure breakwall/jetty mooring for your boats & jet skis. We have 300+ feet of frontage with 3 fish/swim docks, and a sand beach dedicated swim area with parent observation & supervision docks. We DO have a Pontoon plan rate that provides unlimited pontoon boat use for the entire week. There is a queen bed in one bedroom, full in one bedroom and a double in the living room. Over 6 occupants requires inflatable mattresses + surcharge.

About MooreFun LLC - Doug Moore

I am a U.S.C.G. licensed captain and retired public school teacher. My wife, Adele and I have over 30 years of rental housing experience. We winter at Fort Myers Beach, FL, and run fishing/shelling charters from Boca Grande to the Dry Tortugas.

MooreFun LLC - Doug Moore purchased this cottage in 1994

What makes this cottage unique

Deer, mink, racoons, martens and bald eagles are frequent visitors to the waterfront here. For the fisherman, Long Lake is one of the premier smallmouth bass lakes in MI with several tournaments each year. There are also Northern Pike, perch, and the walleye and bluegill fishing has improved every year since implementing cormorant control in 2005. Long Lake is primarily a limestone rock & ledge lake with scattered weed beds which offer the best fishing. Maximum depth 20-25', and this IS an all sports lake.

Peaceful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

First we would like to Thank Doug and Adle for making us feel at home. My husband and I help care for our parents and work 40hrs a week. So needless to say, we needed some quiet time. We stayed at Doug and Adle's cottage the last week of June. Arriving on a Sunday, We pretty much had Long Lake to ourself until Friday when people started to arrive for the weekend. The Cabin is small and quaint. Very Clean. The water front is beautiful. We enjoyed grilling and the fire pit. But the highlight of our trip was the Pontoon Boat floating on the water and just relaxing. My husband caught Pike, Walleye and Small mouth Bass. If your looking for a nice place to get way we would Highly recommend staying at Doug and Adle's.

Perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

So sorry we never found this before!!.

The cottage was quite clean and well stocked with basic essentials, very peaceful setting, great fishing. Perfect for us having family in Alpena, to visit, hang out fishing, horse shoes, play on swing set. They didn't want to leave. Such a nice change from staying in a hotel.

Doug and Adele are very nice people, it was nice having them close by with any questions and as others have reviewed gave us our space. Doug was so kind to fillet the fish we caught.

Seriously thinking of doing this again next yr.

We didn't want to come home......

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived (in the pouring rain) Doug and Adele were there to greet us. They were very accommodating with anything and everything..... From introducing our 3 girls to fishing, addicting all 5 of us to the game of Lazy Mans Horseshoes to just being there for conversation - they truly welcomed us and helped complete our family vacation. They have thought of everything in their rental..... Firewood, BBQ grill, lawn chairs, paddle boats (the power paddler kept the kids occupied for hours - that thing was AWESOME), even board games for those rainy days, and of course we cant forget the pontoon. That was just the icing on the cake.

The cottage itself is on the smaller side but who cares when there is the great outdoors to enjoy, including a private beach. It worked for our family of 5. The yard was beyond immaculate and relaxing. There have been minor upgrades in decor since these pictures were taken, but everything is very accurate..... AND CLEAN!!!!!

I would highly recommend anyone to stay here - you won't find that kind of hospitality any where else!!! We were all sad when it was time to leave.

Thank you Doug and Adele.

Beautiful Lake Front

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect! The owners, Doug and Adel were both so accommodating. They truly thought of everything in their rental...just bring your fishing pole! The cabin was clean and comfortable with just enough privacy. I will be saving this place to my favorites and visit again! Thanks Doug and Adel for a terrific stay!

Beautiful Lake Front Property

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Sunday afternoon to a lovely note from Doug and Adel, welcoming us to the cottage. The accommodations were just as expected with a beautiful view. Doug and Adel were there if we needed anything from directions to the best fishing spot or places to eat. They truly thought of everything in the cabin...just bring your fishing pole! We rented the pontoon boat for an additional cost and it was worth every penny! This rental will definetly be saved in my favorites to rent in the future...next time I will take my grandson too! Thanks Doug and Adel for a great week!

Best Fishing Ever

  • 5 of 5

My fishing buddy and I were searching for a new lake to fish that was closer to where we live in Cincinnati. After some research we chose to stay at Doug and Adele's cottage. It could'nt have worked out any better. We found everything to be as promised. The cottage, modest in its furnishings, is very nice, clean and well maintained. There is a boat dock, firepit, and use of a boat among other things. There is a nice lakefront restaurant nearby for those times when you don't feel like cooking in or grilling out (gas grill provided).

Doug and Adele were more than gracious. To us they were more like great neighbors, never underfoot, but always there if you needed something or just wanted to chat

And now for the best part. We have fished a great many lakes both north and south. This was our best trip ever! The smallmouth bass fishing was the best we have ever experienced.

We highly recommend this cottage and plan on returning in 2013.
