2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6
Island Vacation Properties
Hideaway, Old Florida style house
We loved this unpretentious little house from the 50's!
The beds and sofas were comfortable. The kitchen included everything we needed for the minimum of cooking that we do while on vacation.
The large patio was wonderful! We had breakfast, happy hour and read there.
The house is right on the beach and since we stayed during the first 2 weeks of December the beach was very quiet and many of the surrounding homes were not occupied.
However a few things disappointed us. The glass front door did not have any blinds or curtains and you could see right through. Also 6 windows did not have curtains or blinds or even a valance, which gave the house a little bit of a neglected look.
We were not impressed with the rental agency (Island Vacation Properties). The man who handed us the keys was anything but friendly. For a $ 140.00 cleaning fee more care should have been given to the inside of the windows. I realized that the salt spray is constant but the inside of the window over the sink was so dirty and moldy that we cleaned it ourselves. Also the rental company was very cheap with the supplies: only one roll of toilet paper per bathroom. We had to go buy paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent. That never happened to us before in 9 years renting with VRBO. We had to go to the office to ask for a 2nd garbage bag and were told that laundry detergent does not come with the welcome kit.
Overall we loved the house but are not planning on doing business with Island Vacation Properties again!
Thank you for your feedback so we can provide the best vacation experience. We have shared your review with the owners. At this time we are working with them concerning additional blinds and curtains for Anna Maria Escape. We are sorry you missed the arrival information regarding paper supplies and needed to come to our office for a Welcome bag.
We apologize for failing to meet your expectations for friendliness, supplies and unit privacy.
Anna Maria Island is still a great place for a vacation. We hope you plan a return visit in the future.
I booked this home somewhat last minute and was very pleased with the location. The main reason we booked this home is its location on the Island and peaceful beach location. While on the beach there was no one 100 yards in either direction...in July...the home itself has a nice large living area and great back porch... bring a 12 x 12 canopy tent if you have one and plan to spend time on the large back porch grilling or socializing. Yes the home is out dated and older but for my family, the 6 of us, what we really cared about was location and beach. We really enjoyed our stay.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay at this “Old Florida” home. The location in the city of Anna Maria offers a more tranquil tropical location. The deck is a great place to relax at the end of the day and view a glorious sunset. Thank you for telling us about your experience at Anna Maria Escape.
Loved the location
Great location and beautiful views of the sand and beach. You can walk to the main shopping area. This house is fine for 4 people as far as sleeping. The pull out sofas are not comfortable. Maybe they are okay for children, not adults. The bathrooms are very dated but functional. It's pet friendly, so I get it, you don't want to have pets in a pristine home. Bugs, mainly roaches and ants.were an issue,. But this is Florida, and that's something you deal with sometimes. We did enjoy our stay.
We're glad you enjoyed the private and tropical patio surrounded by native Florida plants with the beach views. This spacious and charming "Old Florida" two bedroom, two bath Gulf front home is decorated in bright, festive colors and Mexican tile floors. Sorry you encountered some bugs in the home despite regular pest control treatments. The day after you reported the pest issues, another treatment was completed. We hope you will consider returning to Anna Maria Island in the future. We can assist you with finding a home that would accommodate your family without sleeper sofas.
Wonderful beach family retreat
We enjoyed staying here specifically for being right on the beach. Though I was surprised at the walking distance to the water but it was not a problem for us. But then the house also sits very close to North Shore Dr. which has a regular stream of traffic passing by and the front bedroom I found a bit noisy and lit with the passing headlights. Also, the height of the front door threshold was bit of a challenge for my older parents, it almost needs a step there. Many of the mini-blinds are broken and hard to manipulate, and the back door to the patio often got stuck. But overall, it's a sweet, comfortable and accommodating house (in need of some TLC) with an open floor plan convenient for our family and friends that stopped by. And it was equipped with everything we needed. Knowing all these things, we would definitely stay there again. We love Anna Maria Island!
We are happy that you had an enjoyable vacation on Anna Maria Island. This home is a great place to get away from it all. You can stroll on the beach for miles in either direction!
I am sorry you had some issues during your stay. Our goal is to resolve any issues in a timely manner. All the blinds are being replaced. We measured the step at the front door. It is the normal rise of a step. The back door was checked. There is a traditional dead bolt and vertical lock system. The locks must be completely disengaged or it will cause the door to stick.
As part of our property inspections, the owners are replacing the living room furniture. All dining chairs have been recovered. Painting has been completed in needed areas.
We are glad to hear you would choose this charming beach home for a return visit.
