Peaceful local Irish Cottage location

  • 5 of 5

The local surroundings of the lovely cottage is peaceful. It worked well to rent a car and visit tourists sights and return to a local restaurant in Adare for for dinner, as it is a short drive back to the cottage. Privacy is yours while having helpful and friendly Martin nearby.

We would highly recommend the cottage. Martin and family stayed true to the classic thatched roof style we learned about at Bunratty Castle & Folk Park. Well, maintained and renovated with beautiful wood on a quiet country road. Wake up to the sounds of cows and birds.

Lovely mix of traditional and modern

  • 4 of 5

This is a spacious property with most of the modern conveniences you would want on holiday. Everything listed on the website was accurate. Communication with the owner was excellent and on arrival he was very welcoming. The cottage is situated in the countryside so I advise that you need personal transport to get about. We were able to visit most of the major tourist attractions in the area. We particularly enjoyed our Photographic Workshop with Dingle Darkroom, where we were taken around the Dingle Peninsula's out-of-the-way photographic locations and given great photographic tips and tuition.

We (two couples in our 60’s) stayed at Martin’s lovely cottage for the best part of a week in early Sept. It was the first trip to Ireland for all of us and we all feel that our visit was definitely enhanced by spending a portion of our time in the Irish countryside. We were often awakened by cows mooing at the farm just across the street.

The cottage itself lived up to its online description and photos. It was extremely comfortable and all of the necessary amenities were provided, and then some. Our very hospitable host had stocked a good supply of food basics, including eggs, milk, break, coffee, etc. and even met us with a home cooked breakfast upon arrival. There was a good hairdryer, coffee maker, dishwasher (somewhat temperamental), fridge/freezer, travel brochures, plug converters, numerous TVs, etc. The layout of the cottage is ideal for two couples as the bedrooms are at each end of the house, separated by the great room, and each has a very nice and modern private bath.

We had some slight difficulty finding the cottage on more than one occasion (would recommend bringing a GPS), but the location is pretty central to allow for covering a good part of Ireland. In the 5 days we were there we toured Bunratty Castle, the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, Blarney Castle and Gardens, and did a day trip to Galway. Late in the week, we drove to Dublin to spend our last few days there (the drive to Dublin was also quite easy and only took a couple of hours).

We would highly recommend this rental based upon the facilities and the wonderful hospitality of the host. We were all awed by the beauty of Ireland and its friendly and welcoming people.

Lovely cottage, friendly hosts

  • 5 of 5

Sadly we were only able to stay one night in this gorgeous character cottage but we will definitely be back. The house is clean, cosy and well equipped and the hosts were friendly and helpful recommending places to eat locally and even preparing food for us on our arrival. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into ensuring that guests feel very welcome while staying at the cottage and have everything that they could need to enjoy their stay. We stayed with our toddler and the additional living room was great for us to be able to pop him into bed and sit and relax without having to worry about waking him. The upstairs living room would also be great if staying with another couple or teenage children where everyone might appreciate having their own area to relax on an evening.

Exceeded our expectations by miles- lovely cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed one night here whilst travelling around Ireland with friends. Martin was a great host- very welcoming and friendly. The cottage completely exceeded our expectations- it's huge, very beautiful, filled with everything you could possibly need and the stocked fridge supplies and soup/sandwiches were a delightful surprise on arrival. The cottage has two good sized bedrooms, two bathrooms, two lounge areas and a large kitchen/dining area with its own fireplace. Martin had lit both fires for our arrival too which also a lovely treat. When our fire went out and we had trouble restarting it, Martin happily came over to relight it for us- very much appreciated! I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this cottage to others and I look forward to staying again in future! Thanks Martin.

Met All Our Expectations Plus!

  • 5 of 5

Martin and his family know how to offer a true Irish welcome. He was always generous with his time and hospitality. We had food in the frig, a hot meal welcoming us and goodies shared with us throughout the week.

The cottage was lovely and roomy enough for 6 people to have both privacy and shared space. It was spotless and enhanced by a fire that was lit for us each night. All amentities were as described.

The cottage was on a quiet country road about 10 min from a major highway and other roads that lead to major areas, i.e. Adare, Cashel, Killarney, Cahir, Limmerick, the ferry to county Clare, Galway, Cork, etc. There is also a town about 10 minutes away with a selection of supermarkets, restaurants and a pharmacy among others.

It was great to be near but not in the middle of a bustling tourist area. It gave us the ability to see the sites and still have the quiet of the countryside.

Not only would I recommend the cottage, I would look forward to staying again.
