Easy access and comfortable
6 night stay in July.
First the fair warnings and suggestions:
Unfortunately there is construction at every turn in this city so no where is completely quiet, but it was reasonably quiet here. You also do hear some footsteps above as this is a basement apartment. Natural light is limited to one front window. If you read the property description carefully those potential issues are evident. As others have noted, the bed is low and a tight fit between the armoire and wall, and despite a few creaks it is comfy. The second bed is small and with the dual-entry bathroom setup and the “window” in the master main door the place may not be ideal for 2 couples, but a nice setup for a family. Air conditioner is loud, but cools things fairly quick so no need to run it for long. The nearby Atwater Metro station and surrounding park seems to be a prime spot for homeless but they are not bothersome. A clothes drying rack in the apartment and some chairs to sit outside would be a nice addition! Also, you need to update your emailed info for dining suggestions, I think a couple have closed for business.
Retired couple, no car, were able to metro or walk to everything we cared to from here. Apartment is spacious on a charming block. It is clean and comfortable and Faye was very easy to contact and VERY accommodating. Great shower with instant hot water. Well equipped kitchen for our needs. The apartment was just as advertised and expected, no complaints. The Atwater station leads to a section of the underground city as well, so there are lots of options fairly close for shopping and dining.
Perfect flat in Montreal!
We loved this flat; it was much more charming than shown in the pictures and the perfect jumping off point for our Montreal adventures. We walked most everywhere but two metro lines were a very easy walk from the flat and there were great restaurants nearby.
Unfortunately, our check-in process did not go smoothly; the "details" page gave a check-in door code that didn't work and the lock freezes for 15 minutes when you enter the wrong code. After 3 attempts (and 45 minutes of waiting and trying to contact the owner) we logged into the VRBO site and found a message with a code that worked. In addition, we had been told that there would be a designated parking spot in the back of the building; unfortunately, the owner forgot to move their car so it took us another 45 minutes to find parking. We received an email from the owner the next morning apologizing for the inconveniences and letting us know the parking was now available.
A few other items to note as you consider this flat;
1. Although the bed in the den could hold two people, our teenagers found it too tight of a fit. One ended up sleeping on the couch, which worked fine after we hung a blanket over the window (the curtains were sheer).
2. The main bedroom door has a super cute glass window; lovely for ambiance but didn't offer much privacy (didn't bother us but good to know).
3. The single bathroom was spacious and nice but could be accessed by the den and the bedroom (again, not a problem for us but worth knowing in advance).
4. The kitchen was well appointed and had all of the basics for preparing simple meals.
5. You have to walk around the block to access the parking spot; again, it didn't bother us at all since we walked everywhere but something to consider if you have small children or the weather is bad.
Although the check-in was super frustrating after a long day in the car, overall the benefits of this flat outweighed our arrival and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
It was not clear on the description that we would rend a basement appartement with a low ceiling and low daylight. It was a quiet place except when the owner who lives upstair hosted a party. Though offered spontaneously a refund for that one noisy night, I would rather have been informed about parties which are not allowed by the house rules...
Conveniently located apartment near metro and shopping
Basement apartment in quiet street with historic houses. Really liked it that everything is within walking distance or reachable by metro (Atwater station is nearby). Lots of restaurants. This part of town has a lot of construction, I really hope they leave this neighborhood intact.
PERFECT LOCATION & FABULOUS HOSTS
The apartment is very cozy and much nicer than the pics show. I am a Chef and was able to cook a few meals for my family with the kitchen being stocked with basics. We stayed for 5 days and the space was comfortable for us. 2 adults and 3 kids. The location was perfect and there was ample parking. Thanks Faye for being so accommodating 🤗😍
Great Location to explore downtown Montreal
The apartment was nice, clean and has the basics but is sparsely outfitted when compared to other places we have rented. Easy walking distance to subway, buses and downtown. Not a view apartment if that's what you are looking for.
The bed is way to low but is comfortable, the closet is poorly located beside the bed making it difficult to use. Foot traffic can be heard from upstairs reminding you its a basement apartment.Hosts responded very quickly to questions we had.
We have given it 4 stars because for our needs it worked out just fine and negatives are minor not major concerns. Our trip to Montreal was very enjoyable.
