Casa Colinas was the first model home built in the scenic Hollywood Riviera section of Redondo Beach, CA. The 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath, 3100 square foot home was built in the late 1920s using one of old Hollywood's famous architects and the finest craftsmanship of the era.
Hand stenciled wood ceilings, amazing wrought iron work, original lighting fixtures preserve the character of the original design, while a major renovation adds the comfort and technology of today.
Hollywood Riviera was started in the 1920's by Clifford F. Reid. This ocean-view hillside development was intended to attract the film stars and producers of the 1920's to come live at the beach. It was named Hollywood Riviera because the climate and the hillside views reminded Reid of the French Riviera. The stock market crash of 1929 halted the development and for that reason, there are only 14 original Spanish Revival homes scattered throughout the area. This home was one of the first and affords a prime location in the Riviera.
The living room has a dramatic wood ceiling with original stenciling and hand hewn wood beams. A step down through an arched doorway leads to the professionally designed home theater with a 100' projection screen and incredible surround sound. On the other side of the living room is a step down to the dramatic fireplace room and continuing to the 'secret room' hidden behind a bookcase that was used during prohibition.
Stepping up from the living room and through an arched hallway leads to the dining room with original stenciled wall panels, decorative moulding and a wood-paneled ceiling. Walk out the french doors in the dining room, and you can experience the serenity area with wrap around seating, bubbling fountain, and Moroccan lanterns. Relax and enjoy the view of the bamboo wall and bougainvillea climbing up the original ironwork.
The full chef's kitchen has a 48' professional stove, drawer dishwasher in the island for glasses, regular dishwasher, warming drawer, prep sink, custom African mahogany cabinets, Carrera marble counter tops and a Verde Fantastico granite topped island. There is a sun filled breakfast room off the kitchen.
The fully landscaped backyard has a comfortable seating area with gas fire-pit , 8 foot antique mirror, dining table, lounge chairs, BBQ , fountain surrounded by an herb garden, lemon and lime trees, rose garden, and a sunken hot tub.
There are three bedrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed and bathroom ensuite with a rain shower, side jets, handheld, and regular shower heads. Upstairs has two bedrooms, the master bedroom with a king bed and a ocean view balcony. The second bedroom has two twin beds and large flat screen TV . These two rooms share a bathroom with a steam shower, rain shower and additional side jets. There is also a luxurious separate tub room with a deep free standing jetted tub and an ocean view. The theater downstairs can also be converted for additional sleeping arrangements.
The home is fully automated and has speakers in every room and outside with a large library for music, satellite radio, and an iPod dock.
We are conveniently located three blocks from the beach and less than two blocks to Riviera Village to enjoy world class restaurants and shopping.

My husband owns a home automation and lighting company and I am an interior designer and real estate agent.
The Owner purchased this house in 2007
Hollywood Riviera is one of the most beautiful spots on the Southern California coast. We love being close to the beach and close to LA and all it has to offer.
3 blocks to the beach and two blocks to Riviera Village. Hollywood Riviera is an interesting neighborhood to walk through. There are also woodsy trails that lead up into Palos Verdes and to the beach.
The house is lovely and spacious. The location was perfect to the beach and all our activities. We missed having central ac. However, the morning breeze cooled us down. I would definitely come again and recommend to anyone looking for a rental in Redondo beach.
This home seems like it was decorated by a professional. I later learned that the owner is an interior decorator. The decor and the original architecture make this rental feel like a model home. The lighting system takes a few tries to get used to, but it's not a problem.
The home was closer to the beach than we thought, and there was a festival in downtown Redondo Beach. There is a grocery store about four blocks away, which was very helpful.
I kept walking around the house admiring all of the original details, and how all of the wordly decor meshed together. This is not a place that we will ever forget.
We rented this gorgeous 1926 Spanish Mansion for the weekend while in town for a wedding. We were amazed at the sheer beauty of the property and the attention to detail of the amenities. Fantastic layout, great backyard, close to everything. The outdoor living spaces are a dream and excellent to hang out at night after dinner. I would highly recommend this property. Our host, Angi, was very accommodating and really easy to work with. She was only a phone call, email, or text away. Thanks for the great memories!
We had rented this house for a family vacation to Redondo Beach/Disneyland. It was the perfect place to bring Grandma, Grandpa, Teenagers and 25-30 somethings. We had a couple of bbq's at the house and our family and friends were all impressed. It is walkable to the beach and had a beautiful back yard! I left a necklace at the house and the owner even sent it back to me! I would rent here every time I come to town!
Very nice place and people.
The location was great to the beach and resturants
We were so very fortunate to find this amazing, gorgeous, incredible house and then even more fortunate that the owners allowed us to have our small wedding here. The pictures do not do the house justice. From the moment you walk up to the front door, your breath is taken away from the character and detail of it. It is simply stunning. We never wanted to leave! The owners were so awesome and accommmodating, and we will forever be grateful to them that they let us celebrate our special day in such an incredible house. Everyone was in awe of it. Its location is perfect too. Lots of shops and restaurants to walk to. I can't recommend this house enough and would love to be able to come back and stay again someday. Thank you so much, Angie and Michael! :)
three blocks to the beach and 2 blocks to Redondo Village with shops and restaurants.
