This unit is great for persons looking for a relaxing holiday. Bridgetown: Sunset Annex is located so that you can walk to Kensington Oval, our cricket ground and into Bridgetown where you can shop for Duty Free items, sit at the Waterfront Cafe and watch the deep sea fishing boats bring in their catch. On your way out of town stop at the Cheapside Market, Saturday's are the best days, and purchase local fruit and vegetables for half the price of the grocery stores. On Saturday's the market is a hive of activity, get there before 10am to get the best picks, it is a great local experience, talk to the vendors who are happy to give out local receipes. Lots of fresh herbs are available as well.
Great accommodations for a couple that want to be near Bridgetown and the west coast yet in a private secure setting. Moments walk to local beach bar and restaurant that has entertainment nightly. We ran the AC at night but let the breeze flow through the room during the day. Small kitchen provided a place to cook fresh fish purchased from local vendors and breakfast. Nice landscaped grounds right on the beach with beach chairs provided. 50 feet from the water!
This was not our first visit to Barbados, but this was our favourite accommodation and we are already discussing dates to return. We had a lovely welcome from Mrs Corbin the owner who answered all of our questions - the studio is cosy, but bright and airy with a private patio looking over beautiful colourful gardens to the sea. We had use of the sun chairs and an excellent bbq to cook the fish we bought from the market. The area is unspoilt, the beach tranquil with wonderful swimming - this is a winner and we will be back.
I chose this because my needs were very simple and I was on a budget. This place is exactly as described. In fact, it is even more pretty - the garden is breath taking. I can confirm that you have access to a beautiful beach that is not at all crowded. The lovely owner, Barbara, lives in the larger part of the house and you have your own keys to your separate studio to come and go as you please.
It's a simple lodging with everything you need, plus beauty and relaxation. And wifi!
They kept an eye out for me (single women who travel alone will get attention at the beach) which I feel was both kind and friendly since I was the stranger. Also, since I was travelling over Easter and grocers were closed - they made sure I was set for food.
It's a very easy space to be in. You wake up early to the sounds of surf, birds in the garden, and an extremely friendly puppy (Barbados wakes up with the sunrise!) and you go to bed to sounds of surf and wind.
When I arrived I was offered a cool drink while the studio was being spruced up. And they arranged for transport to & from a grocery on my first night so that I could pick up my own foodstuffs. There is instant coffee and tea already provided. I would take precautions for mosquitos - and you may find there is some repellent and anti-itch product available in the apartment. I got bitten while I slept, but, I didn't let this affect my mood in this beautiful environment.
Thank you to Orissa at Rex Realty, And the Taxi Driver, David:
When I landed in Barbados, the Airport ATM ("ABM" or "Cash-Point") swallowed my debit card and I was unable to access a bank - they close at 3pm. Rex Realty, who had arranged for my transport from the airport to Sunset Annex allowed me pay for the taxi later - through Rex Realty - since I had no cash on hand. Then next day I was able to procure a rental car of my own (highly recommend for exploring on your own - Insist on a GPS!) and sort out my finances. I should have brought traveller's cheques!
