Hike, Explore, Relax and Enjoy Long Range Views Of Mt Mitchell from Front Deck

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,100 sq ft
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

A romantic weekend or family time with long range views and privacy.

Roaring Fork Chalet is named after the 200 ft. waterfall directly behind the chalet. In the winter you can hear the waterfalls and the relaxing effects are something only Mt Mitchell can bring to your soul. In the summer you can escape the heat and cool yourself off in the high mountains of the Great Smoky National Forest which borders the property line.

The chalet has a loft master bedroom with a locally grown and built red cedar king size log bed. In the mornings you wake up to a beautiful view of Mt. Mitchell and the huge valley below. Sip your coffee as the clean cool mountain air gently wakes you up.

Hike some of the local trails which are everywhere. Wade in the mountain creeks and rivers in the cool mountain water. Visit some of the most scenic waterfalls in the world as there are three very close to the chalet. Roaring Fork Falls, Setrock Falls and Crabtree Creek Falls are all less than ten minutes away. If you're up for a mountain hike you can hike from the chalet Roaring Fork Falls behind the chalet.

Come spend time in total peace and quiet away from your daily routine.

About Ron Mashburn

I live outside of Asheville, NC. I love to hike, ride mountain bikes, play with my chocolate lab Nellie and orange tabby BB, cook and enjoy entertain family and friends. I thoroughly enjoy talking about these old mountains and all they have to offer, so please don't hesitate to ask me any and all of your questions.

Why Ron Mashburn chose Burnsville

I bought this chalet in order to get away from it all. Getting back to nature, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and enjoying a round of golf every now and then was a priority.

What makes this chalet unique

I enjoy the peace and quite. The fresh air and there's always a gentle cool breeze blowing. Sitting on the front deck and looking at the peak of Mt Mitchell has always relaxed me as well as my family and friends.

Very Accommodating!

  • 5 of 5

Had an awesome time staying here! Also, Ron was very accommodating with allowing us to check out late due to weather conditions.

Amenity-Rich, Cozy Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

I Took my two boys, 14 and 20, to Ron and Darlene's Burnsville cabin so they could see the Blue Ridge Mountains for the first time. The thing that was most noticeable and very much appreciated by me was the hosts' impeccable attention to detail. Want coffee? We have drip and Keurig - you pick. Oh, and you didn't remember to pack Keurig pods? No problem, we have gourmet, organic coffee here for you. Did you forget to bring your favorite pot or pan? No problem, we have steel-handled calphalon non-stick cookware. Plus . . . a huge electric, nonstick frypan and just about any type of pot you need to accommodate your cooking plan. Leave your Henckels chef knife at home? Not to worry, there's a set of professional knives right on the counter for you. The list kept going on and on. The whole experience from initial communication to ultra-precise instructions for everything to ease of checkout was phenomenal. I am only apprehensive to continue raving about this charming retreat because it may mean it will become more difficult for ME to book again, but suffice it to say whatever your vision may be of the perfect A-Frame cabin, it will come to fruition here. And on a personal note, Ron, you have great taste in movies! I and my boys thank you both for being model hosts.

Just as advertised! Perfect getaway from the city!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my family really enjoyed our stay at the chalet. Everything was as advertised in the property description. When we weren’t enjoying the nature and suggested hikes and waterfalls near the home we were on the deck enjoying our view and star gazing. Would definitely recommend and visit again! Even the ride up to the chalet was beautiful and it was close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway which is a must see.

Beautiful cabin, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We only wish we had more time to enjoy it. Our plan was to take a day and hike to the summit of Mount Mitchell. Only after we arrived did we realize we were just a ten-minute drive from Black Mountain Campground, the perfect starting point for our hike.

Good property in great location

  • 3 of 5

We stayed for three nights at Roaring Fork Chalet, and it was a great base to explore the local area - although some more detailed information regarding local hiking trails would have been helpful (couldn't find the one that was supposed to be only 20 feet from the back door!)

But it is a lovely property, very relaxing, and the master bed is extremely comfortable. There was a problem with the washing machine in that it could only wash with cold water, and it would be useful to have had more instructions on how to use it, where to plug it in, etc.

Would be nice to come back in the summer when the weather is better!

Owner's Response: Thank you David for leaving your review. The chalet is a heavenly place and your time there was very much enjoyed I'm sure. I apologize for the washing machine being unplugged as the contractors where there the day before installing a new tankless water heater and they forgot to plug it in. The hiking trail is impossible to miss as it is literally twenty feet from the back door. It's not a well worn trail and it's a short trail but a lot of fun. I hate that you missed it. I look forward to your next visit!
