'Island Breeze' enjoys an elevated location over 100 meters above the Caribbean sea on the Vuemont lifestyle estate. Guests enjoy breath-taking views of the west coast and lush gardens and rolling landscapes of the surrounding St Peter district. Our large private patio is brushed year round by cooling breezes which also cool the entire villa.
‘Island Breeze’ villa is 1,560 square feet (145 square meter) and furnished to the highest quality with our personal touches and artwork, providing a Caribbean island feel throughout. The open-plan, fully equipped, spacious kitchen links through to the dining and living areas, patio and garden.
Island Breeze sleeps a maximum of 6 guests. The main bedroom with king size bed has an en-suite with bath and shower. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have a queen and two single beds respectively, sharing a large bathroom with walk-in shower. There are ceiling fans, air conditioning and ample hanging and clothes space in all bedrooms. In addition there are several stand-up fans for use around the villa as required. Towels including those for beach use and abundant linen are provided, along with a cooler and plastic drink-ware for trips. You also have full supplies of cleaning materials, household requirements including toilet tissue and soap, tea and coffee and a well-stocked spice cabinet.
There is a phone for local calls; you have broadband access, also TV, radio and a DVD player. Our property manager will greet you and can provide a range of additional services and advice. We can accommodate children under 10 years age with prior agreement. There are no steps at 'Island Breeze', all access is via ramps, which is the case throughout Vuemont Estate.
For groceries, there is a supermarket 2 minutes by road from Vuemont, while in nearby Speightstown there is a fish market and other shopping. Fresh fruit and produce is also found at road-side stalls and at weekend markets.
There are three pools at Vuemont. The infinity pool and heated jacuzzi are located at the clubhouse, a short stroll from our front door on level ground. Tennis enthusiasts can enjoy two floodlit tennis courts, also close to 'Island Breeze’. There is a fully fitted gym and walking routes on the estate.
Vuemont, including ‘Island Breeze’, is fully wheel-chair accessible. Our drive has space for at least two vehicles. Security is provided by Vuemont estate and we have grills on bedroom windows and the front door to provide additional security.
Diverse water and other sports, country walks, tours, sightseeing, history, culture, music shows and festivals, great cuisine - can all be part of your visit to Island Breeze.
We are 20 minutes from Bridgetown and 15 minutes to the rugged north and east coasts. Nearby Holetown and Speighstown offer a wide range of restaurants, bars and excellent shopping should you need a night out or local retail therapy.
You are recommended to rent a vehicle for your stay. Vuemont provide a free return bus service several days a week to west coast locations. The local beverages are excellent – but designated drivers are advisable.
Claire, husband Malcolm and their family are Caribbean nationals who have lived and worked in several West Indian countries including Barbados, Jamaica and the Commonwealth of Dominica. Our diverse backgrounds reflect in our lifestyle. We enjoy the island way of life, culture and history and the long hours of daylight year round; wonderful climate and food. Our many 'roots' are firmly Caribbean!
Claire Hendry purchased this villa in 2012
Having lived in Barbados before, when the opportunity arose to own a home again we jumped at the chance. Here we enjoy a quiet, relaxed lifestyle on the beautifully landscaped Vuemont estate with pools, gym and tennis courts; cool breezes through the patio and villa year round, and with little effort, access to the great array of choices that Barbados offers it's visitors - a visual, cultural and culinary cornucopia!
'Island Breeze' is furnished as if we live there - it is our island home. We are happy to share this lovely slice of Caribbean island life with like-minded visitors.
We bought 'Island Breeze' for many reasons. It is spacious and stylish, and because of it's elevated location enjoys cooling breezes year round, which form a pleasant contract to coastal areas. The lovely views, privacy, excellent facilities and landscaping, amenities and security at Vuemont help to make this a wonderful vacation location.
Island Breeze is a short stroll to the estate's infinity pool, gym and tennis courts. We enjoy uninterrupted views across one of Barbados' famous gulleys (dry streams) and the cane fields to All Saints Church in one direction, and the Caribbean sea in another.
With all this, we are just 20 minutes from the capital Bridgetown, still closer to west coast beaches, and to the many island attractions. With so many roads, we can easily access all parts of Barbados.
Our home is your home. Come and enjoy. Please treat it with the same love and care!
Island Breeze is an amazing rental. Stop looking around at others and just book this. You will not be disappointed.
It is on the quieter end of the Island away from Bridgetown, but still offers very quick access to all major sites and attractions. It is a short drive to the beach, inland and rugged east coast. It has a fish market that is about a 10 minute drive and a shop that has all your needs at the bottom of the road from it’s location. Although you don’t absolutely need a car, it would be highly recommended.
Perfect. Every last detail has been thought of. My wife and I rent vacation houses often (5-7/year). The big things for us are comfortable beds (which this has) and good kitchen utensils…which this also has (knives are sharp, cook wear etc). We have 2 children less than age 4 so we spend a lot of time cooking as opposed to going out. The kitchen was perfectly stocked for this. They also provide the stuff that you don’t want to have to think about when traveling (basic spices, cooking oil, salt etc). The only thing I might add would be a measuring cup and some measuring spoons (it may have been there and we just didn’t find it). The house is beautifully decorated with a lovely back porch that is enclosed. With small children this place was fantastic because there was not much that they could get into and the porch railing is locked in so they could not get out. My wife and I where able to relax around the house with the doors to the patio open, not having to worry that one of the little ones would be out creating adventures of their own on the property.
The ground are stunning with very well maintained pools and extremely clean. There are security gates (although I never felt that we were in any danger) and the estate feels very safe. There is also a gym and tennis courts on the premises. The grounds are immaculate with beautiful gardening and a calming atmosphere. The monkeys also provide intermittent entertainment when they walk through the woods line at the back yard.
The property is very quiet. If you’re looking to have a rowdy time with lots of partying and late nights this probably is not the place for you. If you are looking to relax with access to beautiful views, stunning views, calming west indy breezes and a peaceful retreat…look no further. I would highly recommend this. We just returned on Saturday and I’m looking forward to our next trip back!
We stayed in Island Breeze from 18-29 January as an extended family, the youngest was Oscar who is just 2! Claire and Malcolm were there to welcome us and show us around their fabulous Villa, which far exceeded our expectations. As well as being in top condition, there was also a good stock of provisions, including food and drinks to set us up for the holiday.
Everything about the Villa is as described, and the Vuemont development is delightful. The clue is in the name of the Villa, Island Breeze, but the breeze is very welcome in 29 degree temperatures.
The choice of swimming pools and the Clubhouse close by are a real bonus. Just down the hill is a supermarket, within 10 minutes there is Speightstown with a good range of restaurants, a mile further north is the beautiful marina at Port St Charles, 20 minutes will get you to Holetown for retail therapy, but a car is essential.
Thank you to Claire and Malcolm for taking such good care and attention to our needs for our Grandson, who was delighted with the monkeys in the garden in the morning! We had a fabulous holiday with memories to cherish. We will definitely visit Island Breeze again. The Myers Family.
I recently spent a week at ISLAND BREEZE , which was a very pleasant and
relaxing experience. ISLAND BREEZE is located in the gated community of
Vuemont to the north of the island and sits in a a beautifully landscaped
development housing several villas and apartments. This villa is very well
equipped, all you need to do is show up. The nicely landscaped three
bedroom unit has a very large balcony overlooking the gully and the open
fields. The constant breezes which flow through it ensures that it always
remains cool even when the rest of the island is hot. Island Breeze and
Viewmont is located within 12 minutes from the coast and the lovely shopping
area of Holetown. Its hosts Claire and Malcolm are on hand to give you any
tips on Barbados to make your stay enjoyable. It was indeed a very
pleasurable week for me.
Wow!!!! Our first trip to Barbados and we couldn't have hoped for a more beautiful, relaxing place to spend our time on this characterful and friendly island.
Island Breeze is aptly named, as the cooling breeze sitting on the delightful verandah was the perfect way to spend an evening after a day in the sun, or to enjoy breakfast whilst watching the humming birds in the well kept garden.
The villa itself is as good, if not better, than the pictures and Claire the owner has very tastefully and lovingly decorated it throughout. It is a beautifully airy and bright home.
We arrived later than we had planned, as our plane was delayed but Franklin was waiting for us and happily showed us around the property.
Both Claire and Malcolm, the owners, went out of their way to help while we there, even giving us tips on routes and places to visit.
We would highly recommend 'Island Breeze' for a most relaxing place to stay.
We stayed at the villa for a week in January . It's a lovely spacious 3 bedroom villa in a Gated community with 2 big communal pools , tennis court and a gym. The villa itself is well appointed and enjoys the "Island breeze", which provides a welcome respite from the heat on the coast.
Both Accra and Sandy lane beach are only a short drive away . We usually went to the beach for the day and came back to the villa to have a relaxing swim and watch the sun go down.
After the hustling and bustling of the west coast, we found it really relaxing to come "home" to the spacious villa .
You do need a car to get you around. But driving it's not too difficult around the island
There is a small supermarket not far from from the villa.
We would definitely recommend this property
We had a most enjoyable stay made on the beautiful island of Barbados. The villa is well equipped and is on a tastefully planned complex of villas and apartments. Relaxing on the back verandah enjoying the cool breezes, the view and a drink after a day at the beach can certainly be recommended. The main swimming pool was a very short walk from the front door and there was also a well equipped gym and 2 tennis courts. Franklyn of Churchfield was great, met us on arrival at the villa and ensured we had an enjoyable stay and Claire stayed in regular touch with us before and during our stay to make sure it all went smoothly and we had a good time.
Highlights included the El Tigre cataraman and swimming with turtles (strongly recommended), St Nicholas Abbey, Heywoods beach (only a few miles away) and Paynes Beach (public entrance down side of 1 Sandy Lane), various restaurants in Holestown (about a 25 minute drive) and a drive down the east coast all the way to Crane's Beach (but beware the strong waves and undercurrents). We did not make it to Oistins for the Friday night fish fry, which many recommend.
A car is a must but everywhere on the island is in easy reach, although the signs and maps leave a bit to be desired especially on arrival if driving from the airport!!!
Overall a fantastic holiday and above everything else I recommend the people of Barbados for making us so welcome and a truly enjoyable holiday for me, my wife and 2 teenage children. I am sure we will be back!
Island Breeze provides you with easy access to the magnificent white sand of west coast beaches including Mullins, Paynes Bay and Sandy Lane, also, the spectular scenery of North Point, the east coast and Bathsheba.
St Nicholas Abbey - a carefully preserved plantation estate, steeped in history with guided tours featuring sugar and rum production is 15 minutes from Vuemont; so too, is the Sir Frank Hutson sugar museum and Arlington House, an 18th century 'Great House' museum. Codrington College on the east coast - and the Barbados Museum in Bridgtown also provide great insight to island history. The Barbados Wildlife Reserve and Flower Forest show off the animals and plants of the island. At the reserve, if you do not see them in the wild, you will find the Barbados green monkeys. Harrisons Caves offers a comfortable tour of the world beneath your feet.
Top class golf courses including Royal Westmoreland, Apes Hill -which also houses polo - and Sandy Lane, are all in easy reach.
Should you need a culinary treat, eating options can be found a short ride from Vuemont along the nearby west coast, from homestyle 'Bajan' cuisine to international fare with local ingredients and menus.
Barbados has sailing, boating, surfing and wind-surfing, fishing, scuba diving, submersible dives on 'Atlantis', international music festivals, polo, cricket, horse racing, art galleries, duty free shopping, museums, sports bars, night clubs featuring local and regional music, the ‘Cropover’ festival which marks the end of the sugar cane season…..and so much more.
We and our property managers will be happy to make suggestions if needed on things to do and see, to assist the enjoyment of your visit to Barbados and 'Island Breeze'.
