|Minimum Stay||1 - 3 nights|
Do you need to get out of town and get-away from it all (job, phones, noise, traffic, people), but camping just isn't your thing?
Our newly constructed 600 square foot casita is just an hour southwest of Roswell, New Mexico. We can promise you little to no traffic (maybe 4 or 5 cars a day…if you're lucky), no cell phone service (unless you walk up to the top of the hill), wifi available nearby. There is an abundance of wide open spaces to hike or bicycle (horseback riding is available at $39.00 an hour/per person with a 2 hour minimum, by appointment only with Kim), loads of peace and quiet, and an occasional visit from the local wild life. Feast your eyes on the cattle and sheep grazing on the distant hillsides and savor the beautiful New Mexico skies that spread like a canopy over it all. The nights are spectacular as a blanket of stars unfolds, unhindered by intruding lights.
The warm and welcoming casita has a fully equipped kitchen plus a barbecue grill (charcoal or gas). Feeling adventurous? There's a campfire cooking area where you can grill a cowboy sized steak or toast a marshmallow! Just don't forget your food…it's a long drive to the grocery store (steaks or other available cuts of 'Chesser natural' beef or lamb are available for purchase)!
After a long day, the comfy queen-sized bed beckons and promises a restful nights sleep. The loft area has two twin beds, and the sofa turns into a queen sized bed to accommodate more guests. The casita has a full bath and a washer and dryer to meet your needs. Relax on the covered porch and enjoy the outdoor picnic table.
Biscuit and Gravy, our border collie and corgie will be here to greet you and will be happy to keep you company in case you get lonesome.

Kim, is a lifelong cowboy from a long, family ranching tradition. He was born and raised on this ranch and not only has a love of this way of life but a greater love of people. His wife, Patricia, is also a native of New Mexico and has used her decorating talents and gifts making the casita a true haven of retreat.
Kim has lived on this ranch his entire life and Patricia their entire marriage, since 1978. After diversifying the ranch in 2003 to a working guest ranch, there were many calls wanting to rent the guest house (people not wanting to stay in town or in a hotel. In 2010 they decided to build the 'casita' with a full kitchen for overnight, weeklong or monthly guests. Their first rental was a snowbird from Minnesota the entire month of January. She had beautiful 70 degree weather while she was here!
The simple, peaceful country life is what we live and enjoy and desire to share with others. Our beautiful New Mexico skies are the topic of conversations the world over. No intrusion of city lights, traffic, sirens, telephones, etc. just pure peacefulness. You will hear an occasional bawl of a cow and calf or ewe and lamb, birds singing and other nature sounds.
I was looking at our potential Texas road trip map and saw how close Roswell NM was to our route. I was so glad that I added this Casita to our trip as it is just beautiful! Be prepared for the drive though. We'd got this marked on the sat nav and had an 18 mile drive down country roads (tracks) and came to our destination to see nothing but a gate. We went to the previous farm to see if we'd gone wrong, we hadn't, the farm was just another mile or so. We arrived to an empty farm, tried the Casita door which was open and found the welcome letter. Kim arrived with the dogs and introduced himself. The Bunk House was empty so we were able to nip between the two to play Checkers or pool which was a real bonus. The Casita is very cool, very private and a wonderful place to sleep. We had camp fires both nights watching shooting stars and distant thunder storms. On the day we left we had arranged for my wife to have a horse ride out with Kim which I think she is still smiling about today. She loved the ride and had a session in the arena with Tye which was such an experience for her. The dogs are a pleasure to have around, Biscuit spent most of the time in the porch unless it was time to work, Gravy would hang about and we also got visited by the cat a few times. Watching the horses in the paddocks and having the time ro relax and just chill was perfect. The TV didn't work but to be honest I was glad, this gave us time to enjoy family time together without a screen to distract us. The Casita is well laid out, has a kitchen with everything you need and was very clean. Just make sure you have supplies before arriving though.
Excellent choice as a unique and comfortable place to stay while in Roswell area or passing through. The ranch is wonderfully remote, quiet and lovely. The casita is delightful. It's country cozy/western design is tasteful and fully functional. Patricia and Kim are lovely and helpful hosts. My son and I had a wonderful two night stay there.
My wife and I stayed at the Casita with our three children (11, 9, and 3) for two nights. The Trip was everything we had expected and more. The Casita is beautiful, well furnished, and well maintained. My kids loved the loft. The ranch is beautiful. We loved walking around the grounds, visiting the horses, and getting to see cattle up close. My wife and two older children had a great horse riding experience, while I sat on the front porch reading to my youngest, played horse shoes, and visited the many animals. The fire pit was great in the evening and you can't beat the sunrise and sunset. Kim and Patricia are wonderful hosts and Kim even gave us a history lesson by the fire pit one night about Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County Wars, which was talked about by my kids for days to come. It was a highlight of our 10 days in NM.
This was the perfect get away for our family of 5! I have never been so relaxed, and the Casita was adorable. Amazing scenery! If you are looking for someplace out of the ordinary to stay, the Casita is comfortable, lovely, and a place to write home about.
Even with rain we had a wonderful few days, just relaxing and watching the horses run and "kick up their heels" and playing with the dogs Biscuit and Gravy. We stayed in the casita and had wonderful lightening shows the night we got there. Even with a low van we were able to navigate the roads. Kim and Patricia are wonderful, communicative hosts. The high point was horseback riding at sunset and seeing deer, rabbits and a turkey. Tye, their son, was the best guide ever. We have a "special needs 13 year old son who rode thanks to Tye's easy going manner....both our daughter and son loved the experience, as we did. We hope to be back for more horse back riding. Thank-You.
I absolutely loved the Casita. It was absolutely as wonderful as it is described. It was so peaceful and relaxing that the Chesser's have a life long guest. Any time I need to get away from some R & R, away from the hustle and bustle of life, this is where you will find me. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get away from the stress daily life for some quiet and relaxing time alone.....Heather J., New Mexico
