Lodge, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)
Jim and I are from Rhode Island. We are both retired and love being in Texas ........ especially during those cold New England months. We like to take walks around the different recreation areas and sometimes at the end of a long walk we take a quick swim in the lake to cool off. Our old standard poodle, Guy, loves it too. But then, he loves everything and everybody.

What makes this Lodge unique
We enjoy the relaxing pace here at Hillcrest Lodge. I particularly love to watch the animal life in the yard. So many birds species! Quail ,roadrunners, bob-whites, song birds of all kinds. Plus we have deer that come in the yard and horses that sometimes come to the back fence to visit.

Thanks Mike, Glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again.
Nancy and Frank
very relaxing and enjoyable for the Rea - could use a few amenities in kitchen. A few cosmetic updates but it is a really cool old house so, got to go with that. very quiet too. I stayed on business because I hate hotels. was worth every penny
Sun Country Bass Tournament
Enjoyed staying at Hillcrest Lodge. Very quaint home with lots of interesting topics of conversations.
Thank you Barbara! Franks said you were friendly, left the house very clean. We would love to have you stay at Hillcrest at any time. Nancy
Nice house with easy access to lake Amistad and Del Rio.
House feels like Grandma's except with a trophy room. Frank was a very nice host that gave us a lot of good information about the area including scenic overlook to see the Pecos. Would be a good place for hunters or people looking to fish. The trophy room might scare small children unless they have grown up around a hunter. Overall, nice place with a very nice and knowledgeable host. We would stay here again.
Rustic, period Texas house, great view, very comfortable
I really liked, on a hill overlooking Amistad Lake. Very comfortable
Old quaint house, bad road
The road to the house was a single lane, rough, white rock road with brush on both sides. I was not happy having to pull my boat on this "road"!!
The house is old, solid built, all wood floors, walls and ceiling with peeling paint. It has modern furniture and appliances. I did not have a problem with the house, but my wife was not happy with the musky odor.
There are 8 dog kennels in the back yard, they did not bark much, but it was disturbing to our sleep at times.
Frank, lived next door and was always asking if there was any thing he could do to make our stay better.
Overall we spent most of our time on the lake and did enjoy our stay.
We are glad that our guests enjoyed their stay and hope that they will stay with us again.
I do have to respond to a couple of the things they said about the house and rode. The rode is about 1/4 mile from Rt 90 to the top of the hill where our house is located. It is a dirt road and there is brush on each side but the brush does not reach over into the road. Our guests had a pontoon boat which is, of course, wider than most bass fishing boats. We have not had complaints about the road before.
Next, I would like to address the statement about peeling paint on ceiling and walls. There is one spot in the corner of the living room ceiling where we had a leak and that spot will be fixed right away. There is not any paint peeling off of wall anyehere in the house.
Lake Amistad is a renowned large- mouth bass lake. Many tournaments to attend. Bird, butterfly migrations. Lake Amistad is part of a National Recreation Area.
