Steinhatchee Getaway - Beautiful Home With Guest House

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bath With 1 Bedroom/1 Bath, Sleeps 6

Our Steinhatchee GetAway home has 2 Bedrooms with 1 Bath and a 1 Bedroom /1 Bath Guest house. Both will sleep 6. The house has a large screened porch and another porch that is not screened. A fish/scallop cleaning area is in a screened building with picnic table and grill. The home and guest house sit on a large lot with grape arbors, fruit trees, large oak trees and many large palm trees. We are only about 2.5 blocks from Roys Restaurant, Public boat ramp, Crabby Dads and Ideal Marine Supply.

The Steinhatchee River is a short boat ride to the Gulf of Mexico where the coastline is virtually untouched and protected with saw grass. Excellent fishing on the flats for Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel, and Red Fish. Offshore Grouper, Snapper and Amber Jack.

Scallop season (July 1st-September 25th) marks Steinhatchee's busiest season. It's great fun for the whole family. Just bring your mask and snorkel.

Very Nice Property

  • 5 of 5

Clean & comfortable vacation property. House has everything you need for a relaxing week or weekend in the Steinhatchie area. Near to the public boat ramp, bait shops, marinas, & restaurants. Will definitely go back again as soon as we can . Owner was very helpful & easy to work with. Thanks

Cozy little getaway

  • 3 of 5

Cute, cottage feel to the property. Nice layout and functional. WiFi strength needs addressing. Owners were very apologetic and attentive when the hot water heater didn't work, and had it fixed within a day. Great location to everything in the area, a block from the river. A little to difficult to find in the dark as GPS didn't have exact location. Very nice to have the additional apartment for my teenage son :) Looking forward to returning for scallop season!

House was old-Florida adorable , LOVED the screened porch and natural buffer from other houses.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sieinhatchee partly thanks to the cute house itself and comfortable sleeping quarters. We LOVED the adjacent wild woods and old rural character, and even walked some in the neighborhood at twilight. The native Florida trees and plants and large surrounding 'insulating' green space gave such privacy and quiet and even morning birdsong. My only tiny grievance was the extremely late check in and early check out times, which I feel strongly should be modified by an hour on both ends to allow for full enjoyment of the property. Amazing how much difference a single hour would make...

Nice clean home with everything that we needed for a fantastic stay at Steinhatchee

  • 5 of 5

This home had everything we needed and more. There are two porches on the home, a guest house that is a nice getaway from the house. There is a large fire pit with two large swings by the fire pit that we enjoyed after scalloping and fishing. The screened in fish cleaning room has everything we needed to clean our scallops and fish, including chairs and a picnic table. We really enjoyed scalloping.

The kitchen is well equipped. the beds are comfortable, internet and dish TV are provided.

The home is a short walk to Roys Restaurant and Crabby Dads. The public boat ramp is a couple of blocks from the home We had plenty of room to park our cars and boat trailers at the house.

We will recommend this nice clean home to our friends and will be coming back soon.

Disappointed. Very dirty, live and dead roaches everywhere.

  • 1 of 5

We had a very unfortunate and uncomfortable stay. The house itself was dirty. We reached out to the owner, Joe via email. At the time he called my phone which I did not receive as my phone bit the dust that weekend. No email received. After speaking with Joe the following week I could feel unwelcomed tension on the phone so I tried to make light of the situation and talk about the storm heading our way. Joe mentioned his son had stayed at the rental and he gave his son the option to clean it himself or have the house cleaning service come and clean it. His son opted to clean it himself. I feel like if we're paying $100 for a professional cleaning service for others that's what we should have received as well. The smell was almost unbearable and there were live and dead roaches everywhere. It was so bad we we're not comfortable cooking or even eating in the house. We have decided to make this a yearly trip as the scalloping was a great time but unfortunately will not be booking this rental especially considering the poor response we received. Joe did ask if we stayed at the house as he would refund us if we did not. We did end up staying as we had no where else to go. It was the end of scalloping season everyone is booked. A simple apology and a clean house would have went a long way. A pro to this rental is that it is fairly close to the boat ramp.

Owner's Response: We have owned this home for over 15 years and have never had a problem with roaches. Jeannie left me a message at 12:22 AM after arriving and I saw the message the next morning and tried to call her , sent a text message and email and she did not respond back. Jeannie did call me until about a week after she stayed at our house and said the house was dirty, had roaches, and smelled bad. My wife and I went down to Steinhatchee after talking with Jeannie to check the house and there were no roaches and the house was clean and there was not a bad smell. My son and his wife stayed at the house before Jeannie and they always leave the house very clean. My son and his wife said when they left the house it was very clean. I do not know why Jeannie would leave a bad review, I guess Jeannie is mad with the world and is the type of person that does not like anything or anybody. We have always maintained our property and everyone else that has stayed there has loved it. Several people come back everyt year.

Nice place in a great quite lication

  • 5 of 5

There is definitely a water leak, the house had a moldy smell, but we lit some good smelling candles a aired the house and the smell improved. The location and set up is great. The nights were very calm and quite. I would definitely recommend and bring scented candle for the first day. Don't need after that

Owner's Response: We appreciate the 5 star rating! Thanks for letting us know there was a water leak. We called a roofer and there was a shingle that had blown up that caused a minor leak The Roofer has repaired the shingle and the water leak is stopped. So glad you enjoyed your stay.
