About the property

4 Bedroom, 3.5 Bath Home That Comfortably Sleeps 10

Experience all the beauty and hospitality of Montana, in this beautifully maintained 2700 square foot 4 bedroom/3.5 bath home, with a modern art deco style. This home sits high on the mountain about 15 minutes North of Columbia Falls, Montana. The home is only three miles from access to the North Fork River (a popular river for swimming, floating, fishing, and rafting) and is also conveniently located only twelve miles from the West entrance of Glacier National Park.

When you are not out and about, spend time relaxing on the wrap around deck taking in the scenery of this 5 acre, beautifully wooded property, with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains, and the Great Northern. There is plenty to explore in and around this home! Take a few minutes to jaunt up the hill behind the house, onto neighboring Forest Service land, where a cliff offers amazing panoramic views of the mountains, Bailey Lake, and Spoon Lake. Prefer to take it slower? Spend a peaceful morning in the canoe on Spoon Lake watching and listening to the Loon. If you are lucky, you might even see an eagle grab a fish out of the water. No kidding!

The home is an easy two minute walk from the Spoon Lake public access (where the canoe is stored), or if you are interested in an easy and beautiful hike, there is a trail just a little further down the road that goes through the woods, over the creek and down to a little beach, that is also public access (The owners prefer this access for swimming). The trail continues on around most of Spoon Lake, and up into the woods, to connect with the Canyon Creek trail system.

You can quickly get to Whitefish and spend the day at Whitefish Mountain Resort hiking, ziplining, mountain biking and much more. Spend the day shopping and end it with some fine dining. Glacier National Park is a totally amazing all day(s) adventure, and only a 20 minute drive from the house. Take the kids to the water slide park in Columbia Falls or go to the Family Fun Center and race around on the go-carts. If you are still up for even more fun go on a guided float down the scenic North Fork River and learn to fly-fish. Visit the Hungry Horse Dam and learn it's history. You can spend the morning picking huckleberry's on the property and bake yourself a pie! Huckleberry's can be hard to come by but not here. There is so much to do it's hard to list it all. End your day at one of the properties multiple fire pits, or relax in the hot tub. Gather your friends and family for a game of backyard volley ball, or horse shoes and enjoy breathing in some fresh Montana air!

About Shannon

Peter and I have lived in Montana for 17 and 30 years respectively. We enjoy hiking and sightseeing with our family, as well as continually working to make our property the best place to stay in our corner of the woods! Peter has built and designed three homes in the area: lodge style, contemporary, and modern. In addition to our vacation rental home we also own a hair studio in Whitefish.

Shannon purchased this house in 2007

Why Shannon chose Glacier Park

We chose this property because for its forest setting, spectacular views, nearby lake, and huckleberries!

What makes this house unique

Everyone falls in love with our property for the same reason: it has incredible views, awe inspiring sun rises, and amazing sunsets. If you are looking for a beautiful home and property to be your home base while exploring the area, then this property will not disappoint!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We, the Littlejohns, Melgaards, & Cyr families arrived about 3 hours ago. Soooo very much excitement going with the house and all the surroundings. As parents it is one of our joys in life to be a part of their lives and being with them. (Guestbook: I'll be back later...dinner to help with, Mother Littlejohn)

Saturday following Aug 1 =)

Our journey has come to an end =( Most were tired, some of us are home in Cleveland already - all have mixed feeling about going (but I could stay 7 more days at least) The world called Montana is absolutely wonderful, please take care of her. Thank you for making our trip comfortable, relaxing, and able to be enjoyed in the style we are accustomed. The world and the people therein are all to be enjoyed and loved.

Thank you!

The Cyrs, Melgaards, and Littlejohns

Wonderful in so many regards

  • 5 of 5

This wonderful home has a number of important assets. It's close to Glacier National Park, Columbia Falls and Whitefish. The house is spacious and really well equipped. The property lies seemingly alone in the forest. Spoon Lake offers a quick and relaxing break just a 5 minute walk away. And the owners are super responsive. A perfect getaway for anyone wanting to explore the beauty of Montana.

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

Two families spent a week at this beautiful house. We were 11 in total and the house accommodated us well. We loved the outdoor activities that the house provided. We climbed up behind the ridge and picked huckleberries, had loads of fun on the volleyball court, and the kids spent a few afternoons at Spoon Lake swimming. We ate all of our meals in and the kitchen made this quite easy. We loved the proximity to Glacier. The house is very well decorated and appointed nicely. Thank you so much Shannon and Peter for making our vacation so special.

Beautiful house with wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. Great house with tons to do for the kids, including bikes, fishing, and even hulahooping! It was an amazing location for glacier park. The house was in great condition and has fantastic views off of the balconies. We look forward to staying there again!

Lovely retreat for families with kids, 20 min from GNP

  • 5 of 5

Our family and another (total of 4 kids ages 10-13) had the pleasure of staying here for 5 nights recently. It is a beautiful, modern home, and a great place to relax after long days of hiking at GNP. There is a hot tub which the kids used daily. The adults favorite part was eating our meals out on the wrap around porch. The whole house is decorated nicely and in an eclectic manner. The bedrooms had comfy beds, pillows, and luxurious linens. The bathrooms were clean, and had soft toilet paper. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, cutlery, and dishes/cups. Appliances were top of the line. Overall, it feels like a home that the owners must use a lot too, and keep up to their own standards (not just for renters).

The nearest grocery store is 10-15 min away in Columbia Falls. Definitely ask the owners for the shortcut to GNP (takes 20 min vs the 40 min route our phone told us). Shannon was quick to respond and very helpful in trying to find something I thought I had left there. Also, it is huckleberry heaven behind the house (there isn't much of a marked trail, but it's easy to walk thru the woods and pick berries galore - don't be afraid of the 3 tiny tiny houses back there - they're under construction for future renters I think).

The only very minor issue which may have already been resolved is that the landscaping is a little overgrown when you first pull up to the house (shrubs growing into the walkway and stairs going up to house, grass on volleyball court and hammock patio was a little long). There were also 2 cute firepits with chairs, but we couldn't use them because of the hot weather and fire risk. We did walk to the nearby lake once to swim - it was fun to skip rocks, but the brown water couldn't compare to Glacier.

We really loved our stay here in conjunction with visiting GNP, and the owners have done a wonderful job. You would be lucky to experience it too!

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Looking east to the Rockies from the deck - and just about every room - we enjoyed a glorious sunset as the setting sun illuminated the mountains. Quiet, comfortable, thoughtfully appointed, cooking basics (like olive oil and spices) already there - and a hot tub, too!

Delightful stay. Thanks, Shannon!
