Overview

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday cottage in Rindge - Cygnet Cottage

5 Bedrooms, 5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 12

The “Cygnet Cottage” began as a stable in the 1890s and has been lovingly owned and updated by just two families since. Today it boasts a spacious main house and guesthouse with beautiful hardwood floors throughout, country and antique furnishings, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Located on a protected cove of beautiful Lake Monomonack, the Cygnet Cottage offers peace and privacy plus endless opportunities for entertainment and relaxation.

The rental, which includes both the main house and guesthouse, is perfect for up to four families. The five bedrooms and four full baths offer comfort and privacy, while the large living areas and kitchen are perfect for entertaining large groups.

The main house has two large bedrooms upstairs, one with a king bed and one with a queen. Each has its own full bath. The guesthouse has two large bedrooms with queen beds, a smaller bedroom with two single beds, and two full bathrooms. There are also two very comfortable foldout beds that can be set up as needed in either house. Every bedroom has sweeping lake views!

The rental includes everything needed to make your stay comfortable and easy: high-speed wireless internet, fresh bath towels and sheets, beach towels, silverware and glassware, cooking implements and serving pieces, a gas grill, and washer and dryer. Also included are a ping-pong table, flat-screen TV set and DVD player, Apple TV with Netflix subscription, stereo with iPod hookup, fishing rods and equipment, board games and books galore for kids and adults. Both houses have central air conditioning, though due to the mild climate, you most likely won't need it.

The lake is steps from the house. There is a sandy beach area along shore, a 30 foot wooden dock, and a wooden swim float 100 feet offshore. There are two kayaks, two canoes, a pedal boat, a row boat, and an inflatable zodiac boat. Life jackets, paddles and all other necessary boating equipment are also provided. You can stay in the cove or head out to explore the 700-acre main lake. Native to the lake are loons, mallard ducks, beavers, painted turtles, bullfrogs, bluegills, perch, pickerel, bass and a great blue heron that frequently buzzes the house.

Feel free to email with any questions; the Cygnet Cottage is a wonderful place to vacation!

Beautiful!!!

  • 5 of 5

We booked Cygnet Cottage for a long weekend for our daughters' wedding. The houses were exactly as the pictures portrayed. Large rooms, that accommodated the 12 of us easily. Beautiful lake views from every window. The house was stocked with everything you could want or need. Everyone had a wonderful time kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and paddle boating. We would definitely go back again, it is the perfect get away! Thank You, David, for opening your home for others to enjoy!

Wonderful home at a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at the wonderful Cygnet Cottage and the house and guest house were just as lovely the second time. We stayed for two weeks and really were very sad to leave again this year. In fact, we have already reserved it again for next summer. What brings us back? Great house, well furnished in every room, lovely and very functional and clean kitchen, cabinets full of spices, drawers with lots of clean dishtowels, utensils, and lovely sets of dishes. The linen closet is filled with thick towels and 100% cotton sheets. And every bed is made and ready for our arrival. The guest house is separate from the main house so our guests have privacy and lovely rooms and there are two bathrooms in the guest house! All bedrooms face the lake so all of us can wake each morning with views of the lake that includes a morning mist floating over the water. Tara, the site manager, greets us each year with cheer and well wishes and presents us with a basket of local vegetables and a bottle of delicious olive oil. Boats, kayaks, even a pedal boat are provided and the dock and lake are clean and provide wonderful morning and late afternoon boat rides and swims. The property is gorgeous, very private and well maintained and the little beach was perfect for our granddaughter who is 18 months old. There is soft sand, shallow water and the water was warm enough for her to sit and play for hours. The surrounding area is abundant with hiking trails, grocery stores, unique shops, great restaurants (we usually had great meals at the house). And the local Kimball Farms' lobster rolls, fried clams and ICE CREAM are worth the trip to New Hampshire. We added some very special trips this year - we visited Keene and hiked at the Andrus Art Institute which includes over 100 beautiful sculptures from all over the world. There are mountains to climb, lovely trials in many places, several state parks nearby and Peterborough is a gem. David obviously loves his New Hampshire home and it really shows in his choice of decoration and care for his houses and property. We cannot thank David and Tara enough for giving our family and all of our guests such a very special vacation. We have been home for almost a week and we still miss this real paradise.

Family friendly, peaceful, feels like home!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a vacation on a lake we could share with our family and friends in the area. Cygnet Cottage provided just the right spot! We had our adult children and their 3 1/2 year old daughter stay with us in the house and more friends and family stayed a night or two in the guest house. We enjoyed the boats (kayaks, canoes, paddle boat) on a daily basis. I especially appreciated the serene surroundings, finding peace from my stressful career. Our family has thanked us for helping them create lifelong memories for their children.

The cottage was clean, well furnished and very homey. Tara was very good at preparing the cottage for our stay and available when needed.

We highly recommend this cottage!

Book this place NOW!!

  • 5 of 5

If we only had one word to describe this home it would be SPECTACULAR !!! My family wanted to do something special for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary, so we decided to all get together for a week of fun and relaxation. This places felt like a celebrities summer home. Spacious rooms, walls of windows looking out at the lake, plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms to accommodate our family of twelve. We never felt cramped there was plenty of rooms to go to and relax, nap, read or surf the web. The kitchen was equipped with everything you would need. The deck had a chair for everyone with a large grill to use. The beach was clean and stocked with kayas, canoes and a row boat. David has plenty of life jackets, fishing poles, floats and noodles for everyone to enjoy. We saw some beautiful sunrises in the morning while watching the fog lift off the lake. Spent our days on the deck and beach, and evenings we were around the fire pit watching amazing sunsets while making smores. The house was well off the main road with only a few houses around. Only one house across the lake. You feel like you are on a private island. The house is in a cove off the main lake with only a few small fishing boats going in/out. It was very peaceful. Just a few feet out with the canoe/kayak and your can see all the action. Grocery stores, gas station w/ DD and a Walmart 4- 6 miles from the house. Tons of places to visit. David and his manager Tara were great. Quickly responded to emails/calls and made sure your were enjoying your stay. We had two young children and never once did we hear " we're bored... there is nothing to do." They were wiped-out by the end of the day. No need to look anywhere else... book this place NOW!!

PROS: very large, very clean, well equipped, local food markets, Walmart, gas station just miles away. Great places to visit: Kimball's Ice cream, Keene NH, Stonewell farm, Mt. Monadnock, Millers State Park, Cheshire Rail Trail, Cathedral of the Pines(mins from the house), Colony Mill Market Place, Luca's Mediterranean Café... and so much more. If you have someone on a Gluten free diet there is a pizza place called Pizza Haven that has GF pizza just minutes from the house.... it was good.

CONS: Not enough days in the week. I wish we could of rented this home for a month.

Thank you David for opening your home to us and Tara for being there if needed.

Fabulous Place for A Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

We rented this wonderful property for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. Everything - everything - was perfect. Ages ranged from 6 months to 63 years and everyone was comfortable - we put the 3 young couples with toddlers in the guest house and the main house was the hub. On Friday, one group hiked Mount Monadnock; the others sat on the beach and did some swimming and canoeing. Even in mid-September, the water was warm enough for swimming. David (the owner) and Tara (the property manager) were delightful and accommodating. Come Sunday, we didn't want to leave. I fully expect some or all of us will be back. I'd recommend this property without hesitation.
