About Walter Barnard

This little cabin has been in our family for years. It has fantastic views, and offers quiet solitude away from it all. We use it for family overflow when the relatives come calling and are also happy to rent it as people request.

Why Walter Barnard chose MidCoast - Penobscot Bay

Located on the mid coast of beautiful Maine, this cabin offers an opportunity for a budget vacation in Northport, near Bayside, and allows you the opportunity to explore a beautiful state during peak vacation season. There are ample places to sail or swim, fish, sightsee, or find lighthouses. Or, enjoy the wonderful local restaurants, mid coast events, and nature's offerings.

Wonderfully peaceful spot with a gorgeous view of the bay! Next time we'll stay more than one night so we can enjoy just hanging out. Thank you so much!

Beautiful Views and Fair Amenities

  • 5 of 5

First of all, for the money, you will not find a place with better views of the ocean in a super quaint and adorable little seaside neighborhood. So, for that reason, I rated this 5 stars without hesitation. Also, Walter is VERY nice, lives nearby, and eager to help. The amenities, though, are sparse. Just go into it knowing that and plan accordingly. If you're cooking, bring EVERYTHING but pots and pans. Basically, they have salt and pepper. But again, we planned accordingly and made an incredible seafood dinner and sat on the porch overlooking the ocean while sharing some champagne. It was fabulous.

Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Great economical place to stay. The little red cabin was clean, quiet and has a nice little deck to kick back and relax on while enjoying the view of Penobscot Bay. Walter was friendly and very helpful but left us alone to enjoy the solitude. I also would highly recommend the Camden Harbor Cruise 3 hour Sunday lighthouse tour.

Another successful trip to the Little Red Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our second time staying here and just as majestically peaceful as it was last year. Absolutely no way you can get a better view for the price. It's the best place to escape from life to somewhere simple and rustic. Absolutely love this place.

Lovely little cabin with a great view!

  • 4 of 5

Rustic cabin from the early 1950's. Very basic bathroom but extremely clean and well taken care of. The bed is quite comfortable and it has a lovely front porch and small kitchen. Everything you need to make exploring the area easy. It is quiet and Walter is great.
