Frances Stokes purchased this villa in 2005
Luxurious privacy , minutes from Magens Bay, nature, American Paradise, sailing, golf, birdwatching, snorkelling, stand up paddling, scuba diving, fresh mangoes, papayas and .... so much more
Serendipity Villa has one of the very best locations in St. Thomas. It is in a gated community minutes from Magens Bay, the Mahogany Run Golf Club , and many of the top restaurants and bars on the island.
Wow What a wonderful setting. So much more than we expected. Look forward to the week ahead.... The week has been a wonderful adventure . We have been to the Caribbean many times. But this setting is truly the most breathtaking. Many Thanks!
It’s time to return to reality. Family recipe: Drink of the week: Island Time:
Rum, cointreau, tonic water, splash of fresh lime.
Staying at Serendipity was the ultimate vacation experience! We had a large group of 20 and had plenty of space for all of us to be very comfortable! ( There are actually 3 separate houses, all connected for space and togetherness) The property is out of this world...even better than the photos. Each room is spacious with incredible views and awesome common spaces too...the best views I have ever experienced, and I have travelled a lot! The villa is clean and decorated nicely! Anthony, the super fun and joyful manager was so hospitable..checking in daily and accommodating all our needs and had lots of suggestions to make our stay amazing! If you have a large group and this villa is available...look no further...Serendipity is the best large villa I have ever experienced! Happy trails!
Serendipity is a wonderful hideaway. When you arrive and descend the driveway, you know you are somewhere special. The views are magnificent. We brought in family for a 5 day wedding celebration. Serendipity provided the perfect balance of togetherness and ability to get away. We used all 7 bedrooms and nobody was disappointed. We had meals prepared by local professionals and our own amateur team. Both experiences are well accommodated at Serendipity. The kitchen is very well stocked and there is plenty of space for group meals.
We had a small maintenance issue and it was quickly resolved by the on call maintenance.
This is a great place for families or groups to relax. It creates a good base from which you can experience all of St. Thomas. Many family members asked if we could make this an annual event.
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a group of friends. Stayed 5 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The property is great, the location is awesome - hovering over the rocks on the north side of the island. Impossible to get tired of the views - morning, day and night. You can hear the waves as you sit out on the porch enjoying a morning coffee or an evening cocktail. We had 5 couples and two singles. Everyone said their beds were comfortable and enjoyed the views from their room (note: two rooms - Hans Lollick and St. John don't have quite the view other rooms do, but still nice). We catered a few meals from PassionFruitCatering which was recommended by the owner, Frances. They did a great job. A bit pricey for what you get, but that's more a reflection of costs on an island. We bought groceries and prepared most of our own breakfasts/brunches. We thought Cost U Less was best for supplies - middle of the island. Kitchen is very well stocked re pans, equipment, etc. We like to cook and found everything we needed. Had a few meals out, The Grille at Mahogony Run was very close and good casual spot, Old Stone Farmhouse was best meal of the trip - lives up to the hype, Fresh Bistro at Yacht Have Grande was nice lunch spot. Once again all recommended by Frances. In fact, every recommendation she made was spot-on. We also arranged for a spa day. Boel with SpaToGoVI and her therapists came to the villa for an entire afternoon and were wonderful. Back to the property - follow the owners recommendations and be sure to rent 4X4 vehicles. While we did arrange for a taxi to get us to and from dinner a few nights, you'll want to have your own vehicles for the duration of your trip. Roads and driveway at the villa are steep A little intimidating at first, but totally manageable and safe. Magens Bay is an easy 5 minute drive from the property. Here again, we went with Frances' advice and rented from Amelie Car Rental - cars were new, clean and service was excellent. Decor and furnishings of Serendipity are nice throughout the property. A little dated in some rooms, but in good condition. The place was spotless when we arrived, all spaces and bathrooms very clean. There were some basic supplies (TP, shampoo and bodywash, towels, etc) but nothing fancy. We made good use of the beach towels and coolers provided. Overall, the place is fantastic and a good price. We looked at many villas to accommodate our group of 12, so glad we ended up at Serendipity!
Our family of 14 was easily accommodated in this spacious, well appointed villa. Every detail had been thought of and every preparation made to make our stay memorable and special! Frances went out of her way to decorate for Christmas and even left the ornaments in a basket by the tree so our kids could decorate it themselves! One of our very favorite outings was to Water Island at her recommendation. Any questions that came up before or during the trip, Frances or her property manager were immediately available to assist.
The property itself was immaculate and beautifully furnished and decorated. We never got tired of wandering from one comfortable chair or hammock to another, taking in the different breathtaking views from each one. We also enjoyed some extra special touches like the library with over 600 books, the outdoor shower, the very well equipped kitchen (in terms of appliances, cookware, bakeware, and dishes), and the ice maker and coolers for extra food storage and beach days.
We would wholeheartedly recommend this property to any family or group of friends looking for a truly luxurious experience at an affordable price! Thank you Frances from the entire Joslin family in New England! We hope to see yo again in the future.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Serendipity. Josée, who we met up with to show us around the place, was very accommodating and upon discovering we had brought a case of champagne and couldn't find a bucket, ran out to buy one and bring that and several more flutes for us. The views are great from every room and everyone had a lot of space for themselves if they wanted to be alone. We had the room with the outdoor shower, which I didn't enjoy each time I wanted a shower (my husband liked it but I had to shower in a bathing suit because folks outside could see you) and would recommend you put kids in there maybe since they loved it and kept asking to use it! Overall, it was a great trip and I'd recommend Serendipity to small or large parties - great stay!
Had a FABULOUS time at Villa Serendipity this past May for a 7 day period. The pictures do not do this Villa justice. The scenery is totally breathtaking as you awake to the sunrise and the waves crash against the island. There are not enough words to express how wonderful it was to sit on the deck with the constant breeze from the Ocean. Did I mention the views from every bedroom - I cannot say enough about the amenities that the house offers from the kitchen having everything you will every need to cook a meal. And definitely get the house stocked with provisions so that you do not have to venture out the first night there looking for groceries. And a other travelers have mentioned, get a 4 wheeled drive car. As the roads are very steep and narrow including the driveway. But after a couple of times of going in and out of Peterborg we got use to the inclines. The first time driving was an eye opener as you had to also stay to the left. But all in all you will be very happy with the Villa rental. There were 16 of us and there was plenty of room.
Serendipity Villa is a 3 pavilion waterfront villa in one of the most spectacular settings on St. Thomas. It offers a peaceful haven with stunning views, luxurious accommodations, and total tranquility.
Located on the Peterborg Penninsula, in an exotic and unspoilt site, the villa faces out to the British Virgin islands, Hans Lollick and the famous Devil’s Triangle at the nearby Mahogany Run Golf Club.
