|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Want to get away? Sit on a large rocking chair porch and look at miles of hills and trees and the three horses and 2 cows in the front pasture? Want to walk on 41 acres of land or lie on a hammock, under a magnolia tree, and hear the sound of cow bells? Want to eat outside, either on the porch, or the patio, or inside in the dining room or on the antique country table? Wake up with the sunlight streaming in, and usually a few deer visible in the 2nd pasture. Or look over at the small pond, where frogs are making that great sound. Do you want to sit in the sun-room listening to music, with the fireplace and the 'entertainment' system, or in the living room, with the wood burning stove, and the floorplanks that are 140 years old? And then, when everyone announces they are starving there is the large, beautiful kitchen, open to all the views, making chopping a delight, or the back to basics charcoal BBQ. Best of all, at the end of a day of antiquing, fishing, swimming in a lake, kayaking, playing minigolf and seeing a movie, settle into a HUGE bathtub, and just soak.
For us, this place is heaven. We hope it is for you too.

I am a General Manager of Broadway shows, and my wife is a College Admissions Consultant. Our son is currently at Yale and is a Whiffenpoof of 2015. We love art, music, theater, traveling and good food.
The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2009
We fell in love with this property and the easy 2 and a half hour ride up the Taconic to get here. The house is open and airy, yet with fireplace and woodburning stove. It has a fabulous kitchen and we love to cook. It's peaceful and serene but close to stores, restaurants, minigolf, and movies. We love the combination of 'things to do' and just feeling secluded.
The antiquing is great, the nearby drive-in is retro, lots of great restaurants and the nature is beautiful. Watch humming birds feed from your rocking chair on the porch. Go to Hudson, Catskill, Hunter, Woodstock, Albany or just stay put.
A must-see view for anyone visiting! A family wedding brought us to the area and we were most fortunate to find Peter's home available. Great location to our venue site and the other properties we rented. The cows across the road were most entertaining and the sound of the Swiss Cow Bell was quite calming! The front porch view at night was awesome, as you could see the city lights shining from afar. We did not get to spend a lot of time at the house, but it was equipped with anything you needed. No TV service was the only downfall, as we enjoy the nightly news. A charming country home!
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay in Peter's home. The home is beautiful, artfully and tastefully decorated. The home is close to Hudson so there was lots to do and great places to eat nearby. My favorite things about the home is that I felt I was a guest at a relatives house, the cats took to us well, and we enjoyed the hammock under the tree. The beds were extremely comfortable as well. I would definitely come back when heading up there again. Loved it!
My family and I have never visited this area of New York and we were pleasantly surprised. The property is among rolling hills and is beautifully situated at the crest of a hill with a view of the pasture and mountains. Although it was too chilly for us to enjoy the porch, this feature is an added bonus. Just to the left of the porch across the way is where the farm animals live, (no bad smells!). Small children would be charmed by their presence and my daughter loved visiting them. In preparing for this visit, imagine your good college friend allowing you to stay at his place for the weekend. This home is very charming and certainly lived in, complete with slippers at the door for use. There are beautiful wide planked floors and lovely antiques. The beds were comfortable and there is both a fireplace and a wood burning stove. What I enjoyed most about this home was the ecclectic mix of little figurines and other collectables reflecting the owners love of dogs. Many little surprises and a nice collection of books to enjoy. We never did figure out how to use the TV, although there were instructions. The owner is very thoughtful and we found we lacked nothing for the duration of our visit. This was a pleasure for me and my family!
My family had the pleasure of staying in Peter's home over the Labor Day weekend. The house was exactly as described. The house is perfectly appointed with a beautiful view. The morning sun comes streaming into the bedrooms when you wake only to greet you again as you have morning coffee on the porch with a view of the horses and the horizon. The hammock was well used as was the picnic table for meals outside in the evening. Thank you for a lovely weekend!
My husband and I (and our Min Pin) stayed in this marvelous farmhouse for 3 nights. Coming from a very, very urban environment, this house was just heaven to us, with its sweeping views from its mountain top location, the serenity, the farm animals nearby and the spaciousness of the house itself, all added to a perfect few days. The owners were very responsive and friendly, which made the experience even more agreeable. Loved every minute of it and will plan to return.
This is a really lovely getaway, a fairly short drive from NYC but like another world. The farmhouse is a wonderful combination of old architecture and modern conveniences, very clean and beautifully furnished and spacious with a large eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace, and family room with woodburning stove in addition to the comfortable bedrooms. Plenty of room for your family to hang out together or to have alone time, whichever you feel like doing. During warm months there is also a picnic table and a hammock under large, shady trees.
You can sit on the big, comfy porch and watch the sunset and the horses grazing in the paddock right in front of you with the barn cats purring on your lap if you let them. My two dogs loved exploring the pasture and the woods, full of intriguing critter smells and safely distant from traffic.
Very close by you can find a variety of very good restaurants (and pizza and burger joints if you prefer), antique shops, parks with hiking, swimming and boating, lots of local history and culture to check out. The owners, Peter and Ahna, are friendly and helpful. All in all a sweet deal, highly recommended.
7 golf courses within 30 minutes, visit historic homes of Hudson River painters Frederic Church and Thomas Cole, Bronck museum in neighboring Coxsackie, hike to famous Kaaterskill Falls or site of Catskill Mountain House, 2 gorgeous state parks with lakes, boating and swilmming nearby
