Perfect is how my family and I would describe it; perfect location, perfect house and the perfect vacation. My wife’s family has been vacationing at Pine Point for over 40 years and my children have been vacationing there all their lives. We have been fortunate enough to always find nice rental homes, but this home definitely exceeded (and redefined) our expectations. Julie and Ryan gave us a tour upon arrival and were both great to deal with and very helpful. The views from the master suite were fantastic and with the ocean just steps away it was very relaxing to fall asleep listening to the waves crashing. The bed was extremely comfortable, in fact it was the first time in forever that I did not find myself longing to return home to my own mattress after just a couple of days. The master bath offered a luxurious spa tub, a shower with options that we eventually figured out and a great ocean view. The steam and shower on the main level also offered options that made bath time more entertaining for the children as well as the adults. In my opinion the elevation of the upper deck offered the best ocean views (although the view from the lower deck and main floor of the house was also beautiful) and it was a great place to slip away and read or sit and relax with some morning coffee. My children and their cousins really enjoyed sharing the bunk room and had a great time throughout the week playing musical beds. On the main level the home offered top of the line amenities and appliances, including the ice machine (which never let us down). The screened in porch was very convenient, it was used by the children for dining and by the adults for a pong competition on the long table. The children also picked-up quickly on the pong game, but their beverage of choice was restricted to the non-alcoholic variety. The lower deck offered huge amounts of space, beautiful views and ample seating for relaxing or outdoor dining. The lower deck proved to be a great place to share some cocktails with friends on Thursday evening while watching the Old Orchard Beach fireworks display. The BBQ grill was tremendous and was easily able to handle enough food for the entire family, both in quantity and variety, and not having to worry about changing propane tanks was also very convenient. All of the features, amenities and conveniences of this home added to the experience, but the feature of this home that actually made the experience for us was the proximity to the ocean – perfect.
Pictures of this home though accurate do not do it justice, you need to see it in person. Walking from the front entryway into the living room with the glass wall and doors onto the large lower deck or the master bed room again with a glass wall and sliders onto the upper deck both over-looking the ocean make you stop in your tracks. The open layout of the ground floor allows both an easy flow from front door to rear deck but also has private spaces for reading, music listening or game playing.
Ryan met us (8 adults and 1 child) at the house and gave us a tour, explaining how the state-of-art kitchen and bathrooms (glass showers, Jacuzzi tub, etc.) and A.C. operated. Ryan was both very friendly and attentive, answering all of our questions always with his friendly smile.
The views from the master suite were fantastic and with the ocean just steps away it was very relaxing to fall asleep listening to the crashing waves. The bed was extremely comfortable, in fact it was the first time that neither my wife nor I did not find ourselves longing to return home to our own bed. The big upper deck, both covered and exposed to the sun, provided us with a space to retreat to for reading, relaxing or sipping our favorite drink while looking at and listening to the ocean and waves on the beach. The large lower deck comes with very comfortable furniture, with seating for 6 and a large BBQ grill which was put to good use!
This house has the perfect location, nice quiet neighborhood, steps to a beautiful beach, minutes to restaurants and entertainment. Old Orchard is just 2 miles away and is a great place to go for activities yet sitting on one of the decks or at the beach one would never know how close it is, other than the Thursday night, over-the-water fireworks! For general shopping the Maine Mall is a very quick 9 mile drive away with a very large variety of stores in the immediate area.
The kitchen offers top-of-the-line appliances all the way to a self-standing ice maker and an automated coffee maker which was put to very good use!
To say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the house, amenities, very helpful owners and location would be an understatement. We enjoyed ourselves so much we have already booked a week next summer!
Everything as promised and better. Quiet, friendly neighborhood with fantastic food, shopping, and activity amenities nearby. World class beach. Terrific for fun, work or relaxation. Ryan and/or Julie always available for an explanation of how things work and any questions.
The week went by way too fast! Julie and Ryan have a wonderful property on Pine Point with a gorgeous beach setting, steps away from the water, with all the accommodations of a 5 star resort. The listing description is accurate but doesn't truly capture the warmth and comfort of this beautiful seaside setting in a quaint New England community. Our arrival was met with an immediate reach out from Julie and Ryan who added their own personal touch to our stay. They were extremely gracious and made themselves available 24/7. Everything we needed during our stay was available from the linens and towels, to the beautiful modern kitchen, to the recommendations to Scarborough's wonderful family restaurants (it's worth the 5 minute walk to Baylees for the lobster rolls). The customer service was exceptional. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing week on the beach. Thank you again Julie and Ryan. We look forward to seeing you next summer!
We rented the house because of the beach access listed in the description. We were informed 2 days before we arrived that the beach access was down the road because of conservation of seabirds. We were fine with that. We should have been told that information as soon as the homeowners knew it.
The house had plumbing issues from the previous renters. We had to deal with the homeowner, plumbers, and FedEx pkgs the whole week of our stay. We also didn't have use of all the bathrooms as stated. The homeowner acted like it was all our problem.
The kitchen has plenty of dishes, pots, etc. We had to purchase spices, oil, salt and pepper, condiments, etc. there were none in the house at all.
There aren't enough towels with a group unless you want to wash them everyday. We suggest bringing your own beach towels as we did.
Also, when someone rents the Master bedroom they should be provided with the key so when the door blows shut you don't have to call to have someone come unlock it for you.
The setting is beautiful. We loved the beach and having lobster everyday.
We can't though in good conscience give a better review because of the homeowners attitude and the house issues.
My family was visiting from Canada and I wanted them to experience the beaches in Maine and this house was amazing. The owner, Julie, was so hospitable and lovely. The location is right on the beach with beautiful views of the ocean. The house had everything we needed, including materials needed for a lobster bake. We were able to bring my dog along and he loved the place as well. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat.
Pine Point is Maine's premier beach. Privacy and fabulous views but just a short drive from the attractions at Old Orchard Beach
