My name is Theresa. My husband and I purchased this property over 13 years ago and we are now thrilled to be able to share it as a vacation rental with others. My family has been on this lake for generations. My mother grew up as a resort owner's daughter. My father's parents owned a private cottage near the resort and that is how my parents met ... the rest is history and my family has been on the lake since. In 2009 we completely remodeled the home, adding on, or should I say adding up. We designed a unique 3 story home. Not too big, not too small. Although I am a 'lake girl', I like to be comfortable, and not into 'ruffing' it unless I am on a mission trip. The home has a bit of luxury but very homey at the same time. It is a one-of-a-kind, and I know you will love it as much as we do.
Theresa purchased this house in 2001
Clitherall Lake about 2500 acres and a maximum depth of 70 feet. It is one of the cleanest lakes in Minnesota. There is an abundance of fish - walleye, crappies, northern pike, sunfish, bass, and more. We catch them right off the dock day and night. Wonderful lot on 100' of lake shore, the home is less than 30 feet from the lake and just a few steps down to the water. There are many loons on the lake. Eagles swoop over regularly, and an abundance of birds to watch. Flowers all around, and a herb garden available to our guests.
Perfect location. Only a few miles from the fun summer bustling town of Battle Lake. Less than 300 feet of gravel before you get to the home (no long gravel roads to deal with). Use of a canoe included, and a 18 foot boat/115 yamaha available for rent. This is a family lake...NOT a party lake...This lake is not suited for loud music and reckless boating. Residents and vacationers at this lake enjoy peaceful mornings and still nights listening to the loons. Although there are resorts, boating and fishing, it is not overly crowded. Fishing and sightseeing and family fun are the main attraction on the water. Please keep our beautiful lake clean and infestation free...Do NOT bring in boats from invested waters that have Zebra mussels and like. Boats maybe inspected and subject to a fee by law for infested boats.
Thank you for sharing your lake home with us. We all enjoyed your home and all the extras you have included. We were discovering new items to do even on the last day of our time. Every one in our family is interested in coming back next year if your lake home is available.
Our 4 year old grandson caught fish after fish from the dock. Every one did catch fish from your dock. The boat lift worked perfectly. The kitchen was easy to work and had surprises for new kitchen tools to use. We even left saying "I am going to get one of those". We had plenty of room for our family to come together but also have some quiet time away. The great front room was cozy and was a short walk to the lake, with a walkway! Great design and planning! The new picnic table was perfect.
Again, thank you for opening up your lake home for us, we had a memorable time.
Love love love this place. The house is beautiful and the owner Theresa keeps the house fully stocked for your use. The view, outdoor seating, fire pit and clear water were perfect. We so enjoyed our coffee time and reading time inside and out. Theresa cares about your stay. She wants you to enjoy her home and the lake. That is important to her. Anytime we had a question, Theresa was a text away. She helped us out with our boat. Highly recommend this place but yet I don't want others to know about this place! Thank you Theresa!
October weather held out for our stay at this home. Activities outside included fishing on Clitherall and Battle Lakes, playing in leaf piles, sitting in the hammocks, and a sunny walk thru the charming neighborhood. Once inside, it was time to relax! Lots of room for everyone to spread out for quiet time, then gather for meals and games. No corner went unexplored and once you see this home for yourself, you will realize there are many corners! A must visit!
There was space for everyone and something for everyone to do at the Hans Lake House. We thoroughly enjoyed the home, inside and out. The kids spent hours jumping off the dock into the clean lakewater. We took advantage of the fishing boat to catch a few meals. In the evening, we would relax with smores over the firepit. Thanks to Theresa's suggestion, we tried Justice 2 for lunch…and then went back again most afternoons for proper espresso drinks. We enjoyed every minute of our magical vacation and hope to come back next year!
The property is impeccable; clean, lovely furnishings and lots of space. It's not bare bones like some places. Theresa has done a fabulous job thinking of small details to make your stay the most enjoyable it can possibly be. The lake is beautiful and clear...lots of fish! Battle Lake and surrounding towns have excellent restaurants (Stella's and Zorbaz our favs) and fun activities. We took in the turtle races and tubed down the Ottertail river. We will definitely be back! Also a plus...Fergus Falls is short 20 minutes away so if you're in desperate need of something it's an easy trip.
We gathered with our family for the second time at this Clitheral home to celebrate Christmas. It is the perfect amount of space for us. The kitchen is spacious and fun to cook meals in, the beds were comfortable and the view out the sunroom window is beautiful. The house is clean and well maintained with great amenities. We would stay here again and highly recommend this vacation rental.
I was part of a group of 7 women who picked the most gorgeous 3 days to hang out at this property. The home was very inviting and looked as described on line and as per Theresa the owner. We took part in the Pumpkin Festival going on in Battle Lake that weekend. Got to visit the highlights of this quaint little town. Mostly we enjoyed sitting lakeside and by the camp fire. Plenty of space and a well equipped kitchen. Theresa was very reachable and arrangements were very smooth. Would recommend to others.
