About Tara ODonnell
I've been coming to Donegal my entire life. My mother's family lives here. She left Ireland when she was 18 but her 10 brothers and sisters remained which meant lots of cousins to play with during summer and Christmas vacations when we visited. I met my husband in Donegal and although we reside in NY, we spend at least one week a year in Ireland.

Why Tara ODonnell chose Cleenderry
My mother is from Donegal, Ireland. She grew up about a mile from where my husband and I built our house in 2006. The property is a short distance from many of my relatives - aunts, uncles and cousins. It's the most beautiful area - very quiet and close to the beach.
What makes this House unique
Donegal remains a very authentic spot in Ireland. It's virtually the same as it was 30 years ago when I was a child visiting each year. The landscape is untouched and you have a great view of it from the heated conservatory which is mostly made from glass and faces the ocean. After watching the waves, you can come inside and relax by the turf fireplace. There is a full wrap-around patio so if the weather is nice, you can sit outside or BBQ on the charcoal grill.

Gorgeous views of the ocean and sunsets
A nice home with a great sunroom with lots of windows! It has a well equipped kitchen and the living room furniture is very comfy. A great place to relax after a long day of adventure and discovery in the Irish countryside. Make sure you get your grocery shopping in before heading to the house. It is quite a ride to the house from town centre.
Donegal is a beautiful, authentic county in the northwest of Ireland. The scenic landscape is breathtaking. Here's a video to give a better idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh29457_SgM
There are many festivals around Dungloe during the summer months with plenty of activities but it's also a great place to escape to the quiet of the ocean and the mountains. The people are wonderful so I always recommend spending time in the local pubs and restaurants to get to know them. It's the best way to enjoy Ireland's culture. There are plenty of restaurants that serve locally caught fish, local beef and seasonal ingredients. I suggest trying the BayView in Dungloe and the Lobster Pot in Burtonport. Within an hour of the house, there is world-class golf, hiking along the Blue Stack mountains and Mount Errigal, bays for wind surfing, and towns for shopping. There are beaches throughout Donegal. Closest to the house is Maghery Strand, my favorite. It's extremely peaceful. There's a pub and a quaint spa next to the beach.
