Enjoy the comforts of a large house with entertainment electronics on the inside, wireless throughout the property, and a lovely shaded backyard with a beautiful pool. This house is right for a large family or a few families who would like to vacation together--whether you want to hang out on the property or venture out to explore. It's in a lovely neighborhood where the deer roam freely through large lots covered with oaks. While you're situated serenely on a 3/4 acre, tree-covered lot in our quiet community on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, you're only 2 or 3 miles--depending on what direction you take--from two different Walmarts. So, we’re not far from civilization--if you know what I mean. We’re located a couple of miles from the 1604 Loop of San Antonio as well as Interstate 35, the corridor linking San Antonio, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Austin. You're in a prime location to see San Antonio and the greater area.

Our Home is a 4BR/3BA, 15-year-old executive home located in an outer northeast suburb of San Antonio. This spacious house has a little over 4000 sq ft of living space. There are open living areas downstairs with all four bedrooms and a bonus/media room upstairs. There are 6 TVs (incl 50' flat screen) with one in each bedroom. Most of the home is carpeted except for tile through the bathrooms, kitchen, and traffic areas. We enjoy a large park-like, fenced backyard where we have a beautiful lagoon pool and heated spa. A large circle drive and garage facilitates ample parking. The home has wireless internet, and one old computer available if you don't bring your own laptop. This was our primary residence for a long time and is equipped accordingly.

San Antonio: A Vacation Destination: So much to see and do... It's become a vacation destination for more than just Texans--if that wasn't enough. While this list is far from exhaustive, here’s a few things conveniently located nearby:

10 mins to Natural Bridge Caverns and Wildlife Ranch; 20 mins to New Braunfels, Schlitterbahn, nearest river tubing, historic Gruene; 25 mins to SA International Airport; 30 mins to Downtown, Riverwalk, Sunset Station, Alamo, Six Flags; 45 mins to Sea World, San Marcos tubing and popular San Marcos shopping outlets; 60 mins to Austin or charming Fredericksburg.

I (Jeff) retired from the US Air Force in 2010; my wife (Gale) retired in 2015 from teaching high schoolers. We've been married since 1984--to each other! Because our three children have flown the coop, we are now empty nesters and are spending time chasing them and their families.

Why Jeff Keef chose San Antonio

It's the right location--on the edge of San Antonio near I-35 in the direction of New Braunfels and Austin. I fell in love with the neighborhood when I started looking for a place to live following the completion of my USAF career and our residence on base. The property was perfect for my family of older kids who frequently entertained friends at home.

What makes this house unique

A quiet, large oak-covered neighborhood where deer roam freely, but so conveniently located to all that San Antonio and New Braunfels have to offer. I have never lived anywhere quite like this neighborhood.

I remembered some fond childhood memories when we pulled up and saw all the deer sitting in your yard. I remember deer roaming the neighborhood when we lived in Deerwood Estates in San Marcos. We loved sitting out by the pool (yes, the cool temps didn't scare off the kids) and having plenty of room for everyone. Thanks again for sharing your home and allowing us to rent it. It is beautiful. What a wonderful neighborhood.

This is a large 4000 square foot home and can accommodate up to 30 people easily for an event. There is dining space for 18 using the dining room, breakfast nook, and kitchen bar--add another 6 if you dine on the patio. There are simply plenty of options. With the ample parking, a large kitchen, multiple dining seats and 3 living/family rooms; you could easily host an event here. Note that all bedrooms are on the second floor. CAUTION: There is an open swimming pool in the backyard that is easily accessed from the rear door of the house. If you bring children, make sure you are comfortable with the need to properly supervise them.

Spacious, clean, well equipped!

From easy communication with the owners to an absolutely wonderful home to stay in, we could not be happier with our stay at Garden Ridge. The home was spacious and well equipped, from extra towels to mattresses. The living areas were cozy and the bedrooms were quiet and comfortable. The location was perfect for us to navigate between New Braunfels and San Antonio. We will definitely recommend this property to family and friends! Thank you for providing a true home away from home!

Great location and neighborhood. Enjoyed seeing the deer!

Short trip (3/30 - 4/4/2017) to visit my original home town (moved in 1966, so long time ago!). Enjoyed the stay at the property. Overall the home was lovely and in a very nice neighborhood. The deer were very fun to see. A few amenities were a challenge (coffee maker) and the upstairs was a bit cool for the time of year we were there, but we managed. Thanks to Jeff for all the well disclosed information about the property and requirements during our stay. We would stay again should we make another trip to beautiful San Antonio.

Peaceful & serene

We visited Garden Ridge for our son's Air Force celebration. The property was in a country setting in a very pretty neighborhood. We enjoyed the hot tub, grilling in the yard & playing games. There was more than enough space for the 3 of us : ) It was nice to have the extra space for our son and his girlfriend to be able to visit and stay for one of the evenings.

I'd highly recommend for families.

Jeff & Marilyn were easy to work with and very quick to respond!

We were also blessed with perfect weather - and the ability to utilize the beautiful yard!

Great layout and family friendly

Booked this house for a family vacation for 3 generations. Layout of house provided plenty of space for everyone. It was nice to come home each day after sightseeing to a place that felt like home. We were blessed with warm weather and took advantage of the pool. The only downfall was the too soft mattress in the master bedroom.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. Sorry your bed was not to your liking. We sort of have an assortment at the house. A few firm mattresses, some soft, and some in the middle. Like you, I prefer firm, but my wife likes soft.
