Herb's Home was perfect for our NOLA vacation. The house is located in a picturesque New Orleans neighborhood walking distance to most places, including restaurants, grocery stores, coffee shops AND just a 5 min. walk to Jazz Fest which was amazing to be so close to all of the action. We took short taxi's rides to all of our favorite Music Halls, hung out in the back yard and really enjoyed the place!!! Getting to know Herb was awesome too, he knows everything about the city and it was really helpful to have some local advice.
Herb could not have possibly been more of a gracious host. Even before we got there, he was helpful with tips on the weather and how to get around town. Upon our arrival, he was there to greet us and spent several minutes giving us the lay of the land. The accommodations were perfect. We were within walking distance to a bus stop, restaurants and a grocery store. In fact, we purchased 3 day bus/trolley passes which made it all that easier to get around. We used Uber a few times as well. And even Herb gave us a ride one morning down to the WW2 museum (well worth a visit). I would recommend the Lagniappe Suite to anyone planning a visit to New Orleans. Especially if you want to feel what it's like to live there.
This home was beyond anything I thought it would be. It began with our pleasant host showing us the home and area. It was just my sister and I and we felt more than safe and at home. I ran every morning to city park (exactly 1 mile to doorstep to NOMA). I can't thank Herb enough for taking the time to show me our surroundings so we would feel part of the neighborhood. Herb gave us his contact info and made us feel comfortable to call him if we needed anything at all. Thankfully, we were more than equipped with anything we would need thanks to his thoughtful hosting. Beautiful home, beautiful neighborhood, and gracious host.
We had an amazing stay (6 days) at Herb's house and he made my wife and I feel right at home. Definitely recommend staying here!! His house was close walking distance to the city park for Voodoo Fest and a short ride from the French quarter and garden district. We are genuinely sad to have to leave. Thank you Herb!
After speaking to Herb over the phone, I knew this was going to be a great trip. Herb provided us with everything we could possibly need including helpful tips for getting around NOLA, places to eat, things to do, and history of his hometown. The property itself was quaint, well equipped, and comfortable. I loved making coffee in the morning and heading out to the covered outside area to read with a view of tropical greenery through double French doors. Later in the afternoon after running about town, time was enjoyed in his backyard garden under dappled sunlight. The location of this place was perfectly situated. We were within walking distance of coffee houses, cafes, restaurants, an approachable cemetery, and a lovely park and art museum. Cable cars that will take you into the heart of the action were also within walking distance. It was hard to zip up our bags to leave. Without a doubt we will be back to NOLA, and we will definitely check to see if Herb's property is available. Thank you for such a great first experience!
Herb was so helpful and generous- the home is lovely, easy to find via Maps, and very central to everything most want to do while staying in NOLA. Parking your car is easy and safe. And free! You are 5 blocks from grocery, coffee house and neighborhood restaurants. I would not recommend the Italian one, though. Pricy and food/service not quality. Easy access to bus lines and streetcar stop. Very easy and convenient to use Uber, which was new to us and suggested by Herb. He is very knowledgeable about his city and extremely generous and welcoming. Furnishings are gorgeous and everything you need for a quick weekend or weeks long stay. So much to do and enjoy in the city. Highly recommend Lagniappe and definitely want to plan another trip!
Herb's house was the perfect place to stay. Great location in a quiet neighborhood within close proximity to the French Quarter and other New Orleans attractions. Beautiful accommodations and a fabulous garden room and garden to enjoy. A quintessential New Orleans home: elegant and funky at the same time. I am a native New Orleanian and was home visiting, I could not have picked a more perfect place to stay or a more perfect host. Thanks Herb for sharing your paradise with me!
Walking distance to several New Orleans festivals including the Jazz and Heritage Festival and Voodoo Festival. Also close to City Park which includes the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park & Storyland, boat & bike rentals, the Botanical Gardens, the Bestoff Sculpture Garden, Golf, Tennis, Canoeing, Parkway Tavern Cafe, NOLA City Bark, Equest Farm, New Orleans Museum of Art and the free and awesome Sculpture Garden (a must-see!)
