Simply stated - Casa Playa Bonita is spectacular. From the point of making our reservation to the last moments of our 10 days there - the experience was outstanding. The house is precisely as advertised with every amenity and convenience you could imagine. Located directly on one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Costa Rica, the house is also perfectly situated near great restaurants and all the activities that make the experience so wonderful (surfing, deep sea fishing, hiking, etc.). The owner is unbelievably helpful in orienting one to the house and provides a 'house book' that becomes the Bible for your stay. Filled with great suggestions of things to do and places to eat. The house manager (Yoko) is an excellent resource for setting up activities and for helping to navigate any issues you may have. Yoko alone is worth the price of admission. In addition, there is a couple (Blanca and Herman) who work at the house everyday and make you feel comfortable and pampered. They are wonderful and Blanca is also a great cook. We were a group of 7 (me and my wife, our 3 boys and a friend - all in their 20's, and my 85 year old mother). The place was perfect for everyone. We have traveled throughout the Caribbean for the past 7 years with the family renting VRBO houses. Casa Playa Bonita is far and away the best we have ever experienced. We will most certainly be looking to go back.
Beautiful, functional beach home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property in August 2019. Definitely one of our favorite vacations. The home is beautiful, wonderfully maintained by the house staff, and so functional. The bedrooms all open to the pool which was such a great flow. The kitchen is well stocked and beautiful. The living room was great for game night! The house lies right on Flamingo Beach. The sand is great and there are very few rocks in the swimming area. The beach was not crowded at all. We enjoyed the supplied boogie boards and kayaks. We snorkeled some by the rocks at the end of the beach. The owner was fantastic in providing ample information for us to prepare for our stay. We enjoyed a meal and appetizers at Coco Loco which is maybe a five minute walk down the beach. Enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the house and Coco Loco's. Yoko, the concierge, was helpful in setting up a jet ski outing as well as an adventure day at Hotel Borinquen. Hotel Borinquen is a two hour drive north into the mountains by the volcano, but not to be missed. One of the best ATV trips we've had, horse riding and zip lining. Lunch was included. Really a delightful way to end our trip. Highly recommend this property and plan to return!
Best House in Flamingo Area
This home is amazing! Beachfront property with 5 bedroom suites, incredible kitchen, TVs, Sonos, etc. The pool is incredible. Sitting beachside watching the waves was a highlight.
Great Villa, Average Service and Support
I hosted a corporate retreat last week, staying here for 4 nights. The house is beautiful and a near-perfect location. The property is raised a bit off the beach, which gave us the privacy we had hoped and a great view up Playa Flamingo. Everything is within walking distance! If it were left to just the Villa and location, it would be 4 or 5 stars. Here's why its 3-stars.
First, the ice maker broke. I was hosting 5 couples for our annual kick-off to the company's new year and celebration of last year. Having to go get bags of ice is neither convenient nor desirable, especially when we've run out early in the evening.
Second, we ran out of the bottled water supplied by the house on the second day. Maybe not such a big deal, but we learned of it right as dinner was being served. I guess I missed it in the contract, but I was then notified that the Villa only provided 1 5-gallon bottle to drink. Had I known or been notified prior, I could have made arrangements. At this point, were out of water AND ice, and it was only the second day. I was told that the faucet water was safe and fine, and perhaps it was, but its not something that I wanted to hear.
Third, the hot tub was broken upon arrival. It barely got above the temp of the pool. I was told that it was because of the sea air that the water couldn't be heated very high. Another bummer! I've spent A LOT of time in the mountains and never ran into the issue of a hot tub not being able to be heated due to the air. Service arrived the third day and fixed it. The hot tub was hot. Very hot! Like Bugs Bunny carrot and potato stew hot and we were unable to use the final night.
Chef Roy cooked 2 nights and was great! The meals were fantastic and their service was impeccable!!! Highly recommend him if you're thinking it. We found the breakfast options fine and the staff did a good job, however, it was a bit pricey as it was nothing special. The staff did a great job with the upkeep while. They're supposed to be there 8-4p, but we found that not to be the case, as it did cause an issue for breakfast one morning, which was added to our bill.
Its a great place! However, it did come with some disappointments. Nothing's perfect, but we expected more. Planning thru the Villa's company was confusing at times and a little frustrating, but they were great with setting reservations at restaurants.
We loved our stay at Casa Playa Bonita! We have been to a few villas as a family(6 adults and 3 children) and it was unanimous that this was our favourite. The accommodations and location are spectacular.
The pool/courtyard layout is gorgeous, and all ages made full use of the pool. At the ocean, the boogie boards were a huge hit, again with all of us.
The Oceanside terrace was a popular rendezvous for breakfast, lunch, coffee, drinks, board games, and just chilling.
Loved watching the flock of parakeets, iguanas, and critters scoot around. One very early morning I was enjoying my coffee watching the sun reflect off the iridescent tail of a turquoise browed motmot, sitting up in the yellow flowered tree...wow. Another day, a large iguana was climbing in the tall hillside tree, eating new pink flower buds. Checked out the urchins and snails in the tidal pools. Even took a picture of a beached yellow-bellied sea snake on an early morning walk (the most venomous snake in the world)!
What a lovely couple you have in Blanca and Herman. Although we do not speak Spanish, we were able to communicate simply. They kept things tidy and organized so we had no worries. Such beautiful people.
We had 3 dinners in the dining room, cooked by Blanca- so glad you recommended her as chef. We enjoyed all of them. None of us has had Gallo Pinto previously- Blanca's version was mucho gusto! Delicious seafood. For other dinners we walked down to Coco Loco and enjoyed the food there as well, very reasonably priced.
Some of the family went off to the zip lines, water-rafting, hiking at Rio Perdido. They had a good couple of days. We checked out the activities at Tamarindo.
My favourite was relaxing at Casa Playa Bonita.
Jimmy is a good person who was anxious to help us with any problems. Our mistake was to rent a car directly with Adobe, rather than through Jimmy. It turned out that Adobe did not honor the quote they gave us online. Although he is not responsible for our choice, Jimmy is still trying to sort this for us. I'm afraid we will have to write that off as a lesson learned. In any case, this little hiccup has nothing to do with our very enjoyable vacation, staying at Casa Playa Bonita. Thank you for helping make our time there truly memorable.
Pura Vida...now we know
A perfect beach experience!
We had such a fantastic time at your home! I think you have thought of everything. We have rented many homes through VRBO when we have traveled in the US and out of the country. Yours has been by far the best we have rented!
We loved Costa Rica…the location, the people, the beauty of it all. The set up of the house couldn't be better….everything is so well appointed and having Blanca and Herman there was wonderful. I don't think we could have done it all without Yoko's help! She is a treasure! We especially loved our sailing/snorkeling trip with Panache and we could not have lived without our trips to Coco Loco! Your suggestions were spot on! We loved the beach area and made well use of your boogie boards! We were there for 2 weeks…the first week with adults and the second week with our children and grandchildren. Although we enjoyed our trips away from the house, by far our favorite times were poolside and beachfront with our family and friends. It is a unique property. We felt like we were staying in a 5 star hotel by ourselves!!
We have the most incredible property on Flamingo beach. We are situated at the end of the beach so we have a lot of privacy. Every part of the house looks onto the beach. We are steps away from having our feet in the sand. There is nothing between us and the beach/ocean!!
We offer a full concierge service to our clients. We work with you prior to your trip to arrange airport transfers, car rental, tour activities, chefs, stock-your-fridge, etc. Our concierge will meet you at the house upon your arrival and will be available to you throughout your stay.
Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, boating, rock climbing, health/beauty spa
