We expected an English speaking on site manager and although Abdou was very helpful if we had not had our daughter who speaks and understands a little French we would have been lost, specially when a storm cut out all electricity for a day and we had no water at all for the same amount of time. It also blew two hot plates on the stove top which took a week to repair. Luxury retreats should not send English speakers to this villa - it would be a nightmare of communication and there is a lot one needs to know eg alarm for pool, intercom for electric gates etc etc.
Absolutely professional service during booking process, information flow, care taking at location, location/house itself
My wife and I invited a bunch of very close friends to spend the week with us in Provence. The house is very nicely furnished in every respect from pot and pans to Wifi Internet. We found it very peaceful and yet convenient to get to the sites to see in that part of the world. We comfortably slept 11 in the house.
I'm so pleased with Luxury Retreats. The website was very accurate with plenty of pictures of the property. Everyone I spoke with was well informed, helpful and readily available. The house was well outfitted with towels, toiletries, cleaning products (but low on automatic dishwashing detergent and paper towels) and kitchen utensils and crockery. The follow-up prior to leaving and during our stay was reassuring. I will definitely use Luxury Retreats for all my rental needs and will recommend you to all my friends.
We had a good time, nice villa, kitchen poorly equipped, staff too attentive at times, would
have been nice to be within walking distance of a bakery. Flies were a nuisance, perhaps the septic tank is too close to the house. Towels weren't changed when bed linen was changed. No potoato peeler, bread knife and temperamental coffee filter. One of
the "en suite" bathrooms has no loo so it was necessary to walk down the passage.
Villa Boulbon is a delightful villa. It has most things that you need, lovely furnishings, good beds and lovely grounds. It is located in the countryside, 20 minutes outside of Avignon. It is extremely hard to find with no markers. However, once you find it, it is delightful. I would definitely suggest a GPS system with your rental car. Abdu is the on-site manager but does not speak English so we had a communication problem. Fortunately, not much went wrong. We did not request a meal upon arrival or any stocking of groceries but was charged 220E for dinner and ingredients when we arrived which was unexpected and very expensive for 2 baked chickens and a casserole, Otherwise, we had a lovely holiday. I would highly recommend Villa Boulbon. Pascal and Laura were a great help in making the booking process easy. Any correspondence was answered immediately.
Many thanks to them both!
