Patricia Rael is a member of the Rael Family. Her father was the historian of Questa, a school teacher and writer. Her mother and father raised 6 children. She remembers her father inviting the school children to enjoy the land.. At an Easter Egg Hunt, holding her dad's hand, she decided one day she would have a an affordable beautiful place in the country for people to get away from the city and have enough room to enjoy nature and each other.
Patricia Rael purchased this cabin in 1990
I was fortunate to have inherited this history rich property from my parents. One of the acres which is now the main house was an artist's studio converted to an open loft and easily sleeps 6 people
I enjoy the beauty of the mountains closeby, the large cottonwood trees, the small creek that weaves through the property and the serenity and privacy - a place of peace and space to relax and not be burdened by the city noise.
We had our wedding there last June. It was absolutely perfect! The photos do not do this property justice. Patricia went over and beyond anything we could have expected in getting the property ready for us. The property was beautiful and the creek gorgeous! We had our wedding and reception there. Plenty of room for the kids to play, huge dance area, and the reception tables and caterer. She even accommodated parking. The main house was perfect for the bridal party and stayed in the Casita for the first few days of our honey moon. It was too tranquil to leave. Our guests had a blast! We continually recommend this property to everyone we know. Thank you Patricia for all you did for us, you made it memorable!
We enjoyed our stay- Pictures were accurate. Pros: open concept, cozy, location good between Taos and Red River, creek on property was nice, very clean. We cooked 3 meals and had everything we needed. Nice that it's pet friendly. Cons: wasn't crazy about the housing around it. Definitely not what we expected. Flute in the kitchen fireplace didn't open properly, made breathing the first night difficult. We didn't use it after that and the other one functions properly. They have wifi, but it's terrible. DVD player didn't work so entertainment in the house for teens in the evenings was difficult. Brought the chrome cast for movies but wifi never would pick it up. I would recommend buying your groceries ahead of time. Not many options around the property. The price is what drew us in and I would say it's accurate.
This is a unique historical home with an open floor plan. When we first saw the home we wondered about its history. The ceilings are high, beautiful vigas, a large upstairs loft, two fireplaces, a country kitchen, and a well stocked bathroom. The washer and dryer came in very handy. The yard is large, private, and has a fire ring. The night sky is clear and great for stargazing. It was very quiet and we all slept so well. It was a great place to bring our adventure oriented family. We have been to Questa many times. Usually we camp but decided we wanted to rent a home in Questa. We are New Mexico residents and the family who came to visit us is from the East Coast. They had a real New Mexico experience. So much to do: fishing, hiking, Valle Vidal, the Gorge, Latir Wilderness, excellent restaurants and shops in Red River and Taos, and the best burritos ever at the Chevron Station in Questa (no kidding!). We do plan to return and we would absolutely rent this home again. Thank You Patricia.
No surprises here - everything as described and the owner is fantastic. If you're looking for a quiet, cool in summer location, you've just found it. Great central location for visits to the beautiful Valle Vidal, Red River recreation or Questa dining too. My wife & I enjoyed it immensely - highly recommended!
Had a nice time. Property was clean and convenient to Red River and Taos. Quiet location. Patricia was very pleasant to do business with. Would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay.
The place is soooo peaceful and comfortable. The drive from Red River to Questa is easy and beautiful. It's a true home away from home feeling, very clean and comfortable, and the owner, Patricia, is an absolute gem!!! Directions to the home are spot on. She makes sure you arrive safely, communications with her was like talking to your friend. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here, and can't wait to come back!
